honestly i don't like what's happening with the workers etc, but this world cup opening was proably the best ever in my opinion
@@danemon8423 no one likes what has happened to the workers but when we have the British government judging qatar for this is full of irony because the British treated South Asian migrant workers(my grandfather being one of them) in the 60's like shit.

What a lovely reaction. I got a lot to explain here because I can understand why a lot of what happened there would flow over people's heads.
1. The flying fish is the whale shark; Qatar has one of the largest habitats of whale sharks so it's being featured a lot around Qatar during the world cup.
2. The man with white head cover (called Shmagh in Qatar) is Qatar's youngest entrepreneur Ghanim Al-Muftah, he is a youtuber and philanthropist, he was born with caudal regression syndrome. He is one of the very famous influencers in Qatar.
3. The sword dance is the Qatari folk dance called Ardha. Not sure tho if the swords are real or not.
4. The music played during the drums show is a shoutout to each of the 32 nations participating in the world cup.
5. As you guessed it, they paid homage to the previous FIFA songs and mascots.
6. The "ghost" is the FIFA 2022 World Cup mascot, called Laeeb (a slang means professional player). It is said they got the idea from Ghanim Almuftah, yeah the one in point 2.
7. The guy featured by JK is Fahad Alkubaisi, an icon in the Qatari music field, a perfect selection for this song, that's my personal opinion.
8. The old footage of people playing football are real footages of the Prince Father Hamad, it is said he was unaware they would play that during the opening, a heart touching moment indeed. Hamad is the one who signed the t-shirt. And yes the one next to him is the current Prince of Qatar Tamim.
Ohh (8) no wonder he look so happy when the camera focus on him! I was wondering what's the story behind the clip! 😍😍 That is so beautiful! And the selection of Qatar as this year's wc host is PERFECT! After all we have been through, covid, war, economy downturn, psychological problems all around the world, we really need a perfect host for the most anticipated event after all these challenging happenings. We need a host who can promote PEACE to the whole world. And I just LOVE all wc 2022 songs with all beautiful arabic singers 😍😍 its just so amazing 😭😭

Just to enlighten you, you really should have watched the intro because it introduces the characters in the show , second it’s not a ghost 👻 its a mascot featuring Qatari traditional male head piece called guotra , thired the man dancing with the swords we’re holding real swords and they were professionally handled this kind of dance is also traditional and men practice it in weddings celebrations.

14:20 Is where the local of each country Football chants along with the countries names in each of these countries languages. Meaning when they were saying Japan they said it in Japanese language and included a Japanese football fan chant.
26:20 this part the Amir of state of Qatar surprised his father with old clip when they used to play football in the sands and asked his father to sign on his shirt.

Actually, the old video they aired when the kids were playing football is of the president of Qatar when he was young. His son prepared this surprise for him and brought the exact same t-shirt his father was wearing in the past. You saw him giving the t-shirt to his father and making him sign on it. His father was surprised and happy by that action! 😄🤍

I really enjoyed both opening and closing ceremonies. BBC can go to hell. There was alot of jealousy involved as well. Where is all the noise now? Yet more people will visit Qatar and learn about it. Only good will come out now hopefully

It is just my guess but the whale maybe symbolizes dreams and goes for them; because in the MV of the world cup's song "Dreamer" there was a whale also. The beginning maybe like a movie but I think they wanted the world cup opening not only about music and dancing that's it. They tried to put the idea of following dreams, then there was a nice message about how football and world cup unites us and it was delivered by one person having special needs and the other had accident and lost his hand and both of them are inspirational people and most importantly so different but in one stage delivering one message surrounded by a lot of people from all over the world. I love the world cup for this also, how people from all over the world come together just to celebrate and enjoy one sport.
I liked also how next they put parts of songs from pervious world cups which is beautiful and nostalgic to remind of them. Also they put names of countries that held previous world cups. They tried their best to put many deep sides. And also there was the fun and the dancing and joy of world cup which we all love haha
