Ellie the semi circle thing looks like a clan brooch like braveheart wore. The thing with a hole perhaps a lock cover? Gorgeous treasures can be found when you brush off the mud. ;) beautiful day and hunt. I could nearly smell the sea.
WOW.. What an awesome find halfway into your video. That broach is so very special and personal. Half the fun of finding unique objects is researching what that are. Congratulations Miss D.
O my goodness what a great find and so much info on it too. Its really beautiful and must be one of your favorite finds. I really enjoy they way you search and show us all what you find out about the finds. Thank you Ellie.
Lovely annular brooch Ellie. Strange how many times signals increase when you decide to leave the field, it's as though the field doesn't want you to leave.
Nice museum piece that brooch. Consider yourself very fortunate to have access to thousand of years of history under your feet. I live in Canada where a Georgian copper is very rare find( I found one) .I enjoy your videos keep up the fine work , Cheers!
Thanks Andy! I know how fortunate I am - I found two coppers yesterday and reminded myself how lucky I am to have the chance to find a range of objects. Hope you’re on my subscribe list!
The 2 letter Rune, could mean " FÆ" that will be wealth or rich in both Old English and Old Norse. The "F" is turned the opposite way to make it more artistic! A fantastic find you got there! Greetings from the Viking in Norway!
I found the slate in the sea on Scilly, beneath an old fisherman’s cottage - they often wash up there and make perfect little canvases for my paintings. This one was a colour chart I made recording the colour palette for the winter beach on the islands there.
WOW What a find , those markings would have fooled me they definitely look Scandinavian or pictish. Well done again ,a most interesting place can't wait to see what you unearth next.
@@Joe-B1 that would be pretty good wouldn’t it! I had a quick scan about but might pop back down there today although with 17mm of rain forecast.. perhaps not 😂
Gosh Ellie that piece of brooch is fantastic, when it first came out of the ground I was sure the design would make it from the Saxon period, but I have been wrong before. I recently found a horse pendant which turned out to be medieval, and not Saxon as I thought.
What a great find. Well done !!!! Annular brooch for sure, and medieval for sure, the runic letters are typical viking, so what datation do you guess? I found a part of an annular brooch too lately, with latin letters dating 13rd-14th century probably
Hi Liz I’d love to know which bits you recognise, I’ve posted an image in my Instagram if you’d like to see a still shot. There’s also (in my stories) an image of another brooch found elsewhere in the U.K. which is exactly the same except complete!
Hi there do you believe this piece to be earlier than the 1100-1400 AD / it’s possible that the listing I found is not correct so I am grateful to hear your ideas!

Thank you very much and you’re so right - I love the research part although I won’t take the credit it was one of my detecting group that pointed me in the right direction this time!

What a fun find, and on your way back to the car no less! Good reminder not to turn off the detector too hastily.
Absolutely right!

Hello!!! This is fantastic thank you so much! I had hoped a Viking would pop in here and help me out and here you are!! Thanks again
definitely medieval runes rather than Anglo Saxon or Viking as your O rune didn't exist back before the medieval runes, cool find
Nice find, and nicely displayed on a Cornish Delabole Random Rag Slate. I wonder if the rest of it is around there?

Nice
Thanks 😊

I had rather hoped they were Scandinavian but anyway still medieval is a very cool find!
Another super vlog and thanks once again. Love the wonky key at 6.10 😁😁😎
Yes it’s very cool just need to suss out exactly what it is …
@@miss_detectorist fingers crossed 🤞you find the remaining part of that wonderful brooch. Best of luck.

The only Celtic coin I've found was on the way back from the car (where I'd gone to change batteries), a beautiful silver 'unit' of the Dobunni tribe!
Fantastic!!! I hope so much to find one someday… 🤞
Great video! 😁🤘🏻

It definitely tricked me but I’m still thrilled with it! Lovely markings 😊
Top vid ,Ellie.
I have a house in france and I am going to try and see if I can get permission s out in france,
Good luck I hope you can secure a permission, I’m not sure on the rules in France but hopefully you can do it!

They suggest 1100-1400AD in the description for the other brooch found in the north of England 😊
Hi!
I love your videos, good luck further!
The object with the hole is probably part of a Roman riding spur.
Greetings from Austria!
That’s very good of you to share a clue - I will look up what they look like! Thank you so much 😊
I'm pretty sure you'll find a suitable match. This type of spur is rare, really good find!
I am fairly sure that some of the edging has old Norse script which I recognise

Runes younger version from 800➡️1100 where wiking influenze stopped Normanns took over.

@@miss_detectorist Historical influence
Of Wikings wearing out after King Knut.
Maybe Runes has survived into mid 1250
Max. Nice vid
go back and find the rest of it!!
As soon as it stops raining I’m there! I had a quick scan about but nothing so far …
Lovely video and i like the way you research.A grammatical tip(sorry )but it's not gold gilt it's just gilt.
Ok, thanks - I wasn’t sure if it was visible so I wanted to mention the gold colouration I could see but will take care about that in future 👍🏻
