What a trooper! Who cares if you find anything on these miserable rainy days. The treasure is in your attitude, smile and the yes the contagious inspiration you spread with each of your outings. You are extraordinary! Please keep the videos coming.
Fun video! Very atmospheric weather the first day. Beautiful hedgerows. I especially love the narrow lanes between the two hedges like the one on which you were walking at the end. Thank you for sharing!
Still catching up. 1:40 looks like a book clasp. That was quite the rainstorm and just like the one I got caught in at Detectival. I was within 500 yards of getting back, but I sheltered under a hedge instead. Interesting about the hedge dating and a beautiful shilling found there.
hi Ellie... credit to ya for braving that rain..i told myself a good few years back that...when rain is forecast, i wait for a better day which isn't usually too far away, & the items that are in the ground aren't going anywhere...just waiting for your next visit, i'm ex military & i spent the first 3 months of each year for 4 years on exercises in Norway...doing stuff in Minus 30 - 40, so when people over here in this country complain about it being cold...phhff, what a lovely place you detect on...stunning countryside with a sea view... all the best to you, GL&HH Gordon.
I actually don’t mind the rain. I work outside as an artist. That was a bit heavy for a few minutes! But I’m not afraid of weather I’d much rather be out than in. 😊
yes Ellie.. me too, an artist eh.. i like your idea of the loops on a length of leather ! i may have to do that, i used to paint landscapes in watercolours, all the best chuck & take care x @@miss_detectorist
Wonderful video. Love seeing the beautiful countryside! I had to laugh at your comment about your Georgian coins being " not that old" Just a different perspective! Here in the US/New England finding what we call Colonial era coins are some of my biggest thrills in metal detecting. You have such a fantastic opportunity, to find REALLY old things!
I must apologise for that I meant comparatively to the ancient hedgerows many of which are well over a thousand years old! Also the day previous I was thinking Bronze Age so I was kind of in that frame of mind! Believe me a Georgian coin is STILL a welcome find every time 😊😊😊
No need to apologize! I fully understand, simply a matter of perspective. I love your enthusiasm, driven by the mind boggling possibilities in those fields. 😁
Your not crazy, just young. I did the same thing in my younger days hunting arrowheads and other artifacts. It's raining here in North Texas near the Red River, and I'm inside with the fireplace going. Then again, I still envy you. 😊 BTW, I agree with the pistol theory regarding the sheet metal that may have been bent. It always amazes me how we find these one off pieces scattered about. I do love a good mystery.
So glad I watched this latest vid, Saturday morning I found a large lump of bronze about the same size as yours, (quite deep with a cracking signal), I did tell the Farmer that it was possibly a by product from smelting, you've just saved me a bit of researching. Cheers, keep up the great informative videos.
I was thinking how magical a rainbow must have appeared to the ancients - the colours are so intense - they may not have ever even seen some of those colours!
I've tried detecting in rain like that and didn't enjoy it lol. at least you got your kit dried out for the following day and got out in the sun 👍. as for your hot water and lemon, I used to work with someone that drank hot water and that's it 😳. each to their own I guess. #LP 🤜🤛👍
Totally agree with you and in the past I have detected in every type of weather from blizzards to baking hot sunshine. If you are ever near Brill in Buckinghamshire you are more than welcome to join me for a day out on one of my permissions. The beers are on you afterwards though 😀@@miss_detectorist
My first thought on that enigmatic object was for it to have been a book clasp, enjoyed your video, though nowadays i'm more of a fair weather detectorist, good onya for braving the rain.
Hi Keith from Rakaia South Island Newzealand I really appreciate your enthusiasm with that rain we are in the middle of our summer down here the ground is so hard and dry in possibly to dig so having to spend my time out on the beach not to bad 😊 keep the videos coming and the information you give us is great keep it up .
Well done detecting, horrible weather though to be in and I know as I work outdoors for a living , used your promo code today at LP to buy my digging tools and other accessories that I needed, I have a brand new equinox 900 sitting in its box as I’m currently off work ill. Hopefully will be out next month on my new hobby.
Ah that’s brilliant bet you’re really looking forward to getting started! Hope you’re on the mend soon and thanks for using my code hope you got some nice goodies!
@miss_detectorist I've noticed on other detecting channels over the years bronze axe head hoards have been found mainly near old walls and boundaries. It's thought they weren't just hiding them but it had a symbolic meaning. Anyway good luck Ellie 👍

The Devon lanes carved into the rocky soil are really beautiful and in a few weeks will be covered in wild spring flowers 🌸

Hi. Every time I see a rainbow 🌈 it reinforces how amazingly beautiful this world actually is 🙂. Greetings from Amsterdam 👍🇳🇱
I was thinking how magical a rainbow must have appeared to the ancients - the colours are so intense - they may not have ever even seen some of those colours!
@@miss_detectorist yes. Can you imagine what they thought? Who knows? All sorts of wonderful tales and superstitions 🙂
Good finds at least they were'nt can tops and other rubbish. Stay safe.
No bottle tops this time but there’s always next time 😂

I love a hot water and lemon 🍋 I just never made friends with coffee or tea (I’m weird like that) 😂
A true trooper........🙃🙃😉
I consider myself lucky to be out in it and not stuck at an office desk like I used to be, staring out of the window wishing I was in the rain!

Just how many wooly hats do you own ? Must be a name for that ! touque-a-holic perhaps ( we call them touques in Canada) 😃🇨🇦
I do love a woolly hat 😂 we call them beanies here 😂🇬🇧 I always have room for more. 😂
