Nice to see someone reacting to the real AC/DC other than bloody Thunderstruck! AC/DC has been around for decades but everyone wants to react to bloody Thunderstruck, nice to see someone has some balls to react to the earlier stuff, fantastic mate!
Bon Scott the greatest front man in Rock & Roll. what ever the hell IT is he had it in spades. flash the smile and give a little squeal and he had ya in the palm of his hands! Greatest era in AC/DC history. Powerage is a kick ass album too!!!! just saying.
Love that you are going back to the early years! Definitely right about the bluesy sound! A lot of their early stuff was very blues influenced. Angus, talks about being influenced by some blues guitar players, as a young man. Keep up the ACDC, I am here for it!
Song made me half deaf back in 1977. Standing too close to the left-stage baffles. Belgium, Kontich, October 1977 did that. My ears remember. As does my bladder. The vibrations, you know. I was sixteen and I will always remember. Because they're the days to keep a hold of. Those don't come back, gotta hold 'em close. Memories is all we're left with, in the end. Hold 'em tight baby.
Classic album opener. I can tell your really feeling it in your reactions and your reviews. Hands down the best ROCK N ROLL band on the planet. Bon was a fantastic lyric writer. His use of double entendres is classic. ROCK ON!!!!
This is probably my favorite album by AC/DC. This level of rawness came from them recording the songs together, in the same room. Music today is not recorded this way. And Angus had his Marshall JMPs cranked up to 10, combined with thin studio acoustic walls, unequipped for such power, created the raw and “fizzy” sound of this album.
Ahhh, I love this whole album. I would lock myself in a room, steal my big brother’s album and listened with headphones. My mom would have had a fit if she knew I was listening to it as a very young kid.
Bon's voice was so expressive. He could emote, his voice could strut, it could leer, swagger, convey mischief. Another Australian band, The Radiators, had a song called "Gimme head".
I have mad respect for you for pronouncing “powerage” correctly! Every one says “power age”, but it’s “Powerage”. Bon even says so in an interview. He was the GOAT, this song rules (all of his stuff does)
So glad to see your going back to the beginning! Alot of hits from both Bon and Brian. See if you can find the live video of Let There Be Rock with Bon dressed like a priest. I'd read that on a jump he did on the video he broke an ankle or leg, not exactly sure which.🔥
As a young boy I studied violin and viola in school, this album changed my entire life. I was constantly in trouble, rebelling. It was the early 70s and everybody was rebelling. My parents were alcoholics and my older brothers were getting into drugs. My oldest brother bought this record the day it released,, brought this album home and I remember him cranking that record to 10 on his Sansui Super tuner! I was simply awestruck with the sound! Like nothing I'd heard before. I knew then that "GUITAR" was what I was missing. From that day till today I've bought and learned every AC/DC album ever released foreign and domestic! IVE LEARNED EVERY SONG NOTE FOR NOTE AC/DC has ever released studio and live. This band , especially Malcom & Angus, taught me that to accomplish something it takes effort and concentration, with those comes memory then ability, then understanding and finally feel. That pattern of thought has taught me to apply that in every aspect of my life from my wife and children to my beliefs and morals. I also admired Angus for being pretty sober his whole life. With a band full of drugs and alcohol the band teased him for drinking tea and smoking cigarettes. I'm 57 now, I haven't been drunk or tasted alcohol since Dec 24 1989. Drugs are not and never will be a part of my life! This band taught me what TRUE GROOVE IS and by following them all my life I've seen the STUPID THINGS THEYVE DONE (both individually and as a band) and also I've seen the FORMULA FOR THEIR MUSIC AND THEIR LIVES AND HAVE LEARNED ALOT ABOUT WHAT "NOT TO DO"
Depending on what release your following the original vinyl album track "crabsody in blue" was dropped I think for US release, make sure you listen to that track too, its a belter. Good call on the soul and blues in Bons voice too, this is my favourite DC album, it swings like no other and it is just raw power...was also the first album I ever purchased (along with high voltage) 2nd hand from a cousin when I was 10. 40 years later its still makes my heart leap when I hear it, brings me right back. I know every second of it like the back of my hand. Enjoy the ride my man, youve picked the right one for this, youre a DC fan for life now.
i love that your doing the whole album like this. it's going to be a fun ride for the both of us. if you did every bon scott album in this way i would be here for every song. side note: acdc is my favorite band of all time. bon scott is my favorite vocalist of all time angus my favorite guitarist and not enough can be said about Malcolm the best rhythm guitarist of all time by far. malclom also wrote almost all the riffs for the band that gives them that unmistakable acdc sound. when your not hearing the picking of angus that sound your hearing is coming from malcolm the greatest rhythm guitarist who has ever lived.
