I think Run DMC were the ones who set it off. Naturally there was never any conflict between these types of music; it was individuals and tribes. Whites against blacks, etcetera, choose your hate skirt!

@@sallylauper8222Yes, it was Run DMC, but it wasn't so much when they did "King of Rock". It was more when they collaborated with Aerosmith for the rap version of "Walk this Way" in 1986. That marked the first time ever Rap and Rock collaborated together.

I grew up in Aberdeen and I I still listen to both of these bands. Metal Church cut their first album at breakwater Seafoods in Aberdeen. Me and my homies weren't listening to Nirvana. Kurt Cobain was known around town for being a lush. And for acting like he was entitled. On my street in the projects. We would literally be listening to Metal Church The dark. Put on some Body count or some Mentors. Throw in some Masters of Puppets. Or some Ice T. Then wash it all down with some Mix-A-Lot he's had some master pieces. We never even thought about him being from Seattle. We just felt like that was top tier beats and lyrics. Still number one in 21. Motherfucker had two platinum records before today's rappers were a gleam in their daddy's eyes. I love the Return of the Bumpasaurus album. Shit! Hip hop Soldier, Posses on Broadway, Bremalo, Monsta Mack,Swap meet louie,Buckin my horse, Ainster, the list of songs that I have committed to memory goes on and on. You know your that fucking good when a white welfare head banging stoner kid from the Harbor is still bumping your shit 30yrs later. I'm proud of the music I listen to. I like music with intelligent lyrics. And pounding beats. The style and desire of a true Iron man. So fucking good till this day.
