Excited!
In case of win do you ship also to Europe?
Scamming on whatnot.
Id love to attend, but its the middle of the day for me while working :(
just wanna take this moment to say that your hair is beautiful
I haven't watched the video yet. It just went up a minute ago. But before I see the review on my decks, I just want to say that I hope everybody out there reading this enjoys them ❤
Ya done real good. 👍
I had a brief heart skip when I read 10% playable out of the box. WHAT DID I DO WRONG??? 😆
Me after watching the review: 😭
I really like the deep clue sea deck, great job with that one :)
I hate you Gavin. First time I ever bought a Commander set, there was a time I couldn't bring myself to pay 25 dollars for a starter deck and now look at me! But there all so interesting to play with! I couldn't resist!
16:50 Prof confirms they’re 10% playable right out of the box!
100% of the time they are playable out of the box 10% of the time.
He also said he can't do math. You are kinda lucky he didn't say they are potato out of the box.
a 10% guarantee that a new player will enjoy the game is a solid margin for a precon
OK, it's time we created a petition to retroactively errata all merfolk to "Vedalken Fish"
Markov meme continues to battle the algorithm against unalive mysteries
I hope this trend continues - Ixalan and now these are what I’ve wanted as far as reprint equity form commander precons since I started playing commander.
So so good
IMO these are some of the tightest commander precons in a while. They remind me of when we had the yearly precons. I snapped up blame game b/c I love goad but I hope to get all four eventually!
Same, I'm really tempted to get all four lol. I think I'll just settle for Deep Clue Sea. I was brewing a clue deck already and this one just seems great value, I especially love the subcommander of the deck.
Agreed. These definitely seem to all be hits with relevant reprints and mechanics.
Deep clue sea is a blast to play, especially upgraded! It just spanks the table hard, and literally out of nowhere!
Disguise, is super sneaky and sus, which is its charm... I love flipping ginormous attackers that hit like a truck!
“A double feature that doesn't suck!”
I see what you did there Prof
What’d he do?
@@zealouslyonpsychedelicsTook a shot at Innistrad Double Feature - literally just a mash up of the whole Crimson Vow and Midnight Hunt sets with a black/white filter over them. They were originally advertised as going to be a curated draft experience, but apparently that was too much work.
@@Onattamatooh ok thanks!
Tbh, i loved double feature.
We did it, Fam!
I'd love to buy a markov manor commander deck, shame it's only Karlov
prof i would love to see you play the precons after these videos, just a normal shuffle up and play with them, it would make it so much easier to look at decks
He has to play them to test them. He could turn it into a low edit video to show rough gameplay for each deck. It would have to be low edit though for the video to be timely.
@@ninjaman0003exactly that, or hell, id be happy if it came out a few days later, im english so i cant get mine till the 15th at the earliest cos wizards doesnt like us, they tell us it releases on the 9th but gives us another week delivery
You would love Paymoneywubby’s magic channel who just yesterday posted a commander game with the MKM precons.
ill give that a look thanks
@@TermsOfServiceWTF
I may be one of the few that super hyped for deadly disguise, a mechanic I never see at the table and it always produces a fun board state as your opponents look over and just see a bunch of face4 down cards not knowing what you could have, really hyped to see it in action and do some devious things
Morph hyyyyyped
Yesterday someone in my pod bought this precon and we played two rounds against it. It sems pretty good and certainly a lot of fun for both the pilot and everyone else!
This is the one I picked up. Really hoping to figure something out using it
You will see the mechanic a lot the coming months. Same with Kadena in 2019, but as she is strictly better there are still Kadena players out there (like me 🙃)
I picked this one up even though I have a Kadena deck, because I love the morph mind games and they have very little colour overlap.
Kadena encourages a more controlling playstyle with the discount on the initial cast leaving the flip-up timing to you, alongside the nature of Black and Blue morphs being more reactive and controlling. Kaust on the other hand wants you to be aggressive with it; the mana discount only applies if you are attacking, and Red and White morphs tend to be more proactive as well.
Loving the light trolling on the name. Phenomenal running gag, gold star, no notes *chef’s kiss* 😘
Yeah, cause YT algorythm is running wild on a word "mirder"
@@arhixvelshadowwithin I meant the markov/Karlov replacement;)
I played a couple games last night with Revenant Recon, and I must say I was blown away with how well the deck functioned. There are a ton of great synergies, and with the surveil mechanic you have consistent filtering, so I never felt stuck like some precons are wont to do.
Love watching these, I use them to help me suggest new people towards decks at the LGS I judge at. Also waiting for the Behind the Campus video that will be super informative.
Love the humor you add to your videos. Keep up the great work Prof, you're a gem and light to our community!
One of my funniest decks is the Strixhaven Breena, with a "look over there" strategy, which I make attacking my board worst for you then it is for me, and I reward you when attacking others... the Blame Game seems to do it even better with few adjustments. Now I'm really considering switch decks.
I will grab the Revenant Recon deck if I get the chance. Surveil is such a satisfying mechanic and the deck construction seems to take advantage of it in multiple ways. I must say it is refreshing to see Toxic Deluge, Jeska's Will and so many other format staples actually printed in these decks.
Wow, thanks for the information, professor. I've been thinking of getting one of these decks for a while now and this helps with that
I appreciate these videos so much. Calm rational fun analysis of new product. No doom and gloom and no over the top fake excitement. Prof is the type of person we need more of in this world
16:50 woah they're 10% playable! Wow! Guess I just need another 90 playable cards...
Wow just saw a lot of people have already mentioned this. Whatever, I'm still super original and cool and liked by everybody
@@hamlet8179I love you hamlet8179
I was able to pick up Blame Game, I'm so hyped to upgrade it! I've been trying to build an angel/goad deck since I got into Magic a few months ago, and I feel like this is the perfect deck for me.
I just picked up deep clue sea. I was debating the mirko deck but i just love the one I got. I would love a video on good upgrades to each of these precons! Thanks for the videos :)
These are the most solid precons I've seen in a while, really nice job
I just realized the true reason WOTC pushes out a new set every 5 days. It's to keep the Professor in an endless loop of making videos about the new set so he can't go back to critiquing them!
I picked up the Bant and Dimir decks, since i felt like those face commanders were a bit more generic in what they wanted the deck to do, and so offered a wider range of upgrade paths. Definitely happy with both decks - solid reprints and great gameplay in both for sure - but after seeing a bunch of games that Boros deck really pops off.
Thanks for the great review of these products!!
I was gonna pick up necromancy for a zombie deck I have anyway, but it being in that plus all the cards I've always dreamed of for a dimir deck focused on what Dimir does best like spying, espionage, surveiling etc is just icing on a delicious if small cake
Glad to see they are 10% playable right out of the box! Only 9/10ths missing for a playable deck!
Was about to write the same 😂
Thank you for all the wholesomeness you bring to the scene, Prof.
Awesome builds. Precon techs are Really improving and high quality. Those reprints too. Wow.
I ended up buying all four of these decks for about 35 a piece, and i feel like it has some great value.
Where did you get them at 35?
@cathalmolloy2002 ordered them pre-order from a shop called Gamer's Guild AZ.
Whoa, is that a playmat you are opening the boxes on? Art looks amazing.
Gavin killed it; happy to see precons are improving
A good start of the year for mtg. All of these decks are quality products. We get amazing and necessary reprints (good job wizards), an easy deck for beginers and 3 more complex ones, more original cards per deck so some intersting card for old players.
Intereting also that we get to explore some underused mechanics like clash and morph and its variants.
The only thing we need to see is if they printed enough product for the expected player interest,
Ghirred conclave exile was my first precon, if you see the deck list now you can see how commander decks have improved by the years. I upgraded it with most of the commander cards from precons (someone REALLY loves populate) I really enjoy playing him.
These decks look like a lot of fun! I was trying to decide which one to buy and this video helped a lot.
Also Prof’s tie is fantastic. I would design a BANT Merfolk Commander just got that tie. Your move Gavin…
Great to see you Proff ❤
Honestly my main issue with the MKC decks (I have Deadly disguise and Deep Clue Sea though I'm yet to put them through their paces) is the inclusion of Temples/scry lands over the new sexy surveil lands.
I know that I want to keep one untouched as a precon to play against newer players or in lower power pods, but unsure which direction to take (probably) deep clue sea in. Very tempted to throw the kitchen sink at Scooby and Shagette Doo (Sophia, Dogged Detective) but the drawing cards matter theme that the deck is currently centered around is very tempting to expand upon.
Lets go! Been waiting on this one!
I'm really wanting to pick up the Bant precon. My LGS had it for 60 last night, a little too much for me.
Same here.
Bought all 4 of them for 150 euros, which is around 38 euros each and my god does it feel good to impulse buy sometimes.
@@pascalsimioli6777I preordered at Games Island and got all 4 Decks for 130€, since I ordered them before anything about them was released. I made a real good deal there.
That is horrible. I got mine for $45 at mine.
Sounds like you need to find LGS that doesn't treat you like a prison wife
I cant wait to see an episode of what you would add to upgrade these decks they look pretty darn good
Great video as always, love the intro.
this set was my first magic pre release/event as a whole and it was awesome
I managed to find a deal on TCGPlayer for all 4 decks at $150, an I impulse bought them immediately. Really glad to see old powerful cards like Reanimate, Jeska's Will, and Adrix and Nev get solid reprints, and I'm hoping to have a game night with these decks sometime soon.
I hope this is a sign that going forward Wizards will be putting good reprints in Commander decks going forwards. Of course we have to wait for the next set to see if we get three data points to make a pattern.
Hey Tolarian! Love your videos! Just wanted to let you know that in this video particularly the music/voice volumes seems to make it feel like I have to strain to hear you talk a bit. Might just be my setup but maybe worth noting for your editor in the future.
The naya sneak deck is SO much fun. I also got The deep clue sea deck. I’ll play that one on our next play session.
Lmfao love the shock lands intro bit!!! xD
I tested deadly disguised out. I found it quite enjoyable with many huge beasts on the battlefield after some turns (of course all of us playing precons) but my friends found it hard to get around it. This compels me to affirm that precon is also for more experienced players.
Seedborn Muse and Brash Taunter in these precons is sure gonna be a hell of a time
Video showed up in my feed eight when I got all 4 decks at my door. Today is good
Man, what a great tie!!
The fetchable manabase reprinted here is a step up. I am totally happy with fetchable lands for my casual decks, expecially in green. I just hoping to see more colorless options to fetch landtypes.
Picked up revenant recon on friday and i can say that it was super fun to play. I would say for anyone getting into commander and are considering buying any of these decks, you’ll be happy with any of these decks. Read about them and pick what’s interesting to you because you can pull off amazing plays with any of these.
Haven't watched this yet, but I went ahead and got the Deep Cle Sea because of the nice synergy and reprints, and the Blame Game since it seems like a lot of fun 😅
Didn't wait for your vid, because, you know, markups.. so bought them all right after the decklist were published. Price for the set went up over 5% the next day
Ive already bought them & im watching this now :)
Your memetic random chaos energy is so fun. Never change.
Thank you professor.
I went and bought the naya and dimir ones before watching 😂 but I'm really happy with the contents for dismantling them
Anybody else miss when they used to do challenger decks? I kind of miss them instead of the torrential horde of commander decks they release with each set
And Fat Packs with books. Nobody could write fast enough to keep up with all the releases anymore lol.
@@ksimon6485 Chat GPT enters the fray
Lmao that ad break nearly broke the Prof
10% playable? Expected at least 29.
I feel the same way about Mardu minotaur tribal that you feel about Bant merfolk.
I bought the deadly disguise one. I find it lacks in card draw, which is easily fixed with the addition of a few nice cards from the main set.
I’ve just bought singles for the set… maybe should’ve waited for it to release but I’ll be glad to have some good bulk un/commons and a mole god
Deep clue Sea is a fun tinkerer for long term players, but if you shove all the relevant cards from the Dr Who blast from the past deck and a few classic edh spells, it's an easy upgrade.
I was going to buy deadly disguise strictly for Duskana and a handful of other 2/2s. After seeing that the deck has multiple other cards I've been wanting to buy as singles, it became much more worth it!
Blame Game looks fun to play. Plus there’s some good white reprints and a few cards I’d like for a Kardur, Doom scourge deck
Really love that tie Prof 💕
Only Prof could be entertaining enough to hook me into an eighteen minute video about a set I couldn't give a rat's ass about. What an absolute king!
Nice vid, as always. Hopefully I preordered the rite deck, for “regular” price, before this video aired. Lol
I'm somewhat new to magic, ive been playing here and there but I wouldn't saying im new. I purchased the deep clue sea and its probably been my favorite precon so far. Even though my lord of the rings are still my favorite. Deep clue sea just seems to ramp really well, end game I miss triggers but its a ton of fun lol
I'm really hyped for Revenant Recon
Nice video, although there were 2 typos in the final conclusion
I love your tie.
They brought back my boy chulane
I'm happy even though I still wish they had given him a mention in the return to eldrain set
OMG I love your tie!!!!
Great video as always, Professor. It didn't quite have the weight that I was looking for. Something a little Heavier would be nice, something that Hits harder. Perhaps I am demanding my pound of Flesh. I still appreciate your conviction to making timely and informative videos about our favorite TCG's that we all know runs in your Blood. Thanks for all you do!
(Sorry, my coded language didn't make it through. Any content inbound for Heavy Hitters, Flesh and Blood?)@@TolarianCommunityCollege
Gotcha.
The Prof doing Portland proud as always. Looking forward to the video.
Hey Prof, what shelves are those in the background?
"A double feature that doesnt suck. we got there Fam!" had be cracking up! gold.
Iva gotta say that i started MTG a month ago, started with revenant recon and i gotta say the deck is impressive as it is from the box❤ I was able to beat prped commander decks made and played by friends who have played for years, so gotta give WOC a big thumbs up for it😊
The first couple minutes reminded me of a commercial on Rick and Morty lol
My girlfriend loves the pre con commander decks and has been buying the master packs of 1 of each deck since commander masters it's a blast honestly
Doom Whisperer is just one of my favorite cards.
“Ask your parents” makes me laugh and cry at the same time on every review video.
I'd love to see you release a video about the dud commander decks from years past
Love the votos deck so much possible card draw might add a few cards I reviewed from winning at a draft even last night.
Tcc posts new video, immediately forgets what I was planning to do and plops down to watch on TH-cam
Blame game looks like a great “throw creatures at peoples faces” deck. I hope to get a chance to play it.
Also I really want a compilation of Prof’s intros just slooowly getting slightly more chaotic as it goes on.
It's more of a 'let others throw creatures at each others faces deck'
My uncle's name is Mirko, so seeing his name on the face commander of the Dimir deck is extremelly funny to me 😂
I got really lucky and the card shop near me was selling all 4 together for 130 bucks
Calling us out with that closing statement :p
Preach for the Bant Merfolk, Prof. We want our Lorwyn merfolk in our decks!
I've been wondering what your thoughts are on the precon commanders from card kingdom?
Yes, these decks are cool. I bought the red green white deck and it looks awesome out of the box.
The dimir deck and the clue deck are very well made.
The other two are fun but you probably need to invest a good amount in them
Really bummed they didn’t make the disguise deck simic. Really was hoping for some more blue morph love
Didn't Gavin make a post on Twitter or something that there was going to be a Bant merfolk commander in this set but wasn't going to be a Merfolk matters commander? I could have sworn he put out that disclaimer and I wouldn't be surprised if that's why they avoided using the merfolk type
