- Walking (and kayaking ) Ben Lomond on a perfect winters day. You may not recognise this route up Ben Lomond ! A slightly different train for the walk....
We kayaked in over Loch Lomond and ascended pathless , rough, boggy terrain to reach Ben Lomonds Northern Shoulder. From here we headed into the quiet northern corrie and ascended high up onto The Ptarmigan Ridge. Never saw a soul until near the summit and eventually joined about thirty others on the summit. A different way up -BEN LOMOND but not as you know or recognise it! As always on Ben Lomond in these condition ice axe and crampons were essential. A fun adventure and a mirror lat Loch Lomond to kayak back across.

Great video! I’ve been suffering silently with depression and this was my first Munro a few months back, and it was the best decision I made to make this mountain my first Munro! even tho the weather conditions were horrendous and other walkers were turning back, still hounded on and made it to the summit without the proper equipment 👌.. breathtaking views well worth it..!
Hi David, it is a great mountain, sometimes the hills are great for many reasons . I hope you are ok and getting up some more hills and mountains (even though the weather at the moment is rather challenging!!)

What no wind? We got blown off on our first attempt with winds of 70+, couldn’t keep our footing. Went back the following year, winds to 60 or so but we made it! Thank for the film.
haha yes - one of the few days when a Scottish summit has light winds !! these days are to b savoured!!

I have walked Ben lomond a few times always in the summer 6am start doesn't matter how many time you walk it, it's a different picture every time. Great video as usual. Not trying to tell you what to do but you should have a sponsor to help with your costs like Visit Scotland, show them a couple of your vids and they just might be interested. Hi Rich, thanks for the comments... sounds lik a grand trip up Ben Lui- its is a bit of a hike up Glen Cononish to the hill itself. I met Wayfayer summi camping last time I was up here in the snow (and with a grand inversion) and he was camping on the northern top - looked like a good spot (I think he has a video of this if you can find I)! Enjoy your trip and birthday when it comes :)

What an expedition Murray well done! At 6:41 i mind i was there at one winter and it was all rock solid ice, Even with crampons etc i was bricking it. One slip and i was offski lol! Great film mate, peter :)
Yeah - crampons and axe were essential today too - saw too many people struggling and no signs of axe or crampons. I always, always pack both in any weather between October and May!! Been caught out in May before when one side of the mountain was green, however the other (hidden side) was hard ice and neve - never left my crampons in my car again!!

It's the opposite for me. I use text callouts when I'm telling people about camera settings. The trouble with saying them to camera is that I would always end up using a slightly different shot with different settings to the one I thought I was talking about on camera! Keep up the good work. :-)

Thank Jeg, I have a sony nex 7 and a new gopro 6 that I am currently using for my vids :) The GoPros stabilisation is much better then the old one I had and the only gimbal I have is attached t the Mavic Pro :)

The Montane is great (its a 40L - I think). Just bought a 32 litre low alpine sack too which is superb (mountain supplies in perth - cant remember the name of e sack though)
