Thank you this really worked for me. My 2006 CLS 500 was making all sorts of suspension noise. I had the sway bar links replaced which was necessary, but still lots of suspension creaking and clicking. Repair shop recommendation was to replace other suspension components starting with lower control arms $1394. I decided to give your approach a try; used WD40 Specialist Silicone Lube ($9) and found a Jiffy Lube which agreed to do it for me ($60 plus tax). Result =95% of the suspension noises gone almost immediately. Thank you! Saved over $1300

Thank You for your very valuable info input also Sir. I, myself not being a mechanic and without being able to find a rack to use, hopes we're futile to none as no repair shops won't do this kind of work, as I've been finding out, they only really just want to literally "rape" someone in only replacing parts !

Our car was garaged for a while since the injector needs to be replaced. When it got fixed, rear creaking sounds came out all of a sudden! This is perfect for us! Temporary fix for ruined bushings for sure. But this could easily be a preventive maintenance especially on tropical weather heavy sun and rain would ruin bushings.

  • @wholeNwon

If silicone spray doesn't work well, try putting some AT205 Reseal in a spray bottle and applying it to the bushings. Usually takes a day or so to work but more durable than silicone.

Some people in the comments are misleading by saying you eventually need to change the parts. In some cases you do but sometimes the noise is debris, corrosion or rust build-up between a bolt and nut or area by which the bolt portion proceeds. For example, the hole where your outer tie rod bolt/nut goes into the steering knuckle can be loosened, cleaned and ubricated to get rid of the noise without changing the part (sometimes I even use sandpaper to clean the stud part of the tie rod so that it fits smoothly back into the steering knuckle). Only this process takes a little more than spraying and you should have some automotive mechanical skills (as you may throw your alignment off if not done properly).

Without looking at the car in person I couldn’t say much for the other suspension parts, but looking at the way the front bounces up and down after you stopped pushing on it, I’m fairly certain you need new front struts and mounts. Especially if the front end dives excessively when braking, and bounces up and down multiple times after hitting bumps.

I did this BEFORE seeing your video. I inspected our 2008 ford edge for the same squeak and came to the conclusion it could be the lower control arm. I sprayed it and it disappeared. Now, the symptoms of a bad lower arm is clunking, tire wear, steering issues, etc. None of that has happened on our edge but we must keep a close eye on these symptoms or lots more money will be spent on repairs.

  • @johnpickle9684

That is only a temporary measure as you will need to get it fixed eventually. As a rule-of-thumb it is sensible to keep all moving parts lubricated to prevent the costly trips to the garage over the years with any vehicle.

When I change my oil at 5000 miles , while on a mechanics lift . I liberally spray 303 Protectant on all rubber and plastic components underneath . It has been said to spray the silicone into a styrofoam cup . If it starts bubbling up , it was the negative effect of the propellent . Then to use a silicone spray that won't have that effect . Because if it does the propellent will degrade the rubber over time .

I finally brought my W221 out of it's winter hibernation and it squeaked like a horny Asian student. $5 CAD down on the silicon lube, vigorous spraying then leaving it for a couple of days and bingo, no more squeaks. Instead of replacing an entire suspension arm, you can just buy the bushings and ball joints then take the arm off and the it and the bushing to a shop that will press the new ones in for you. I'd guarantee you for that $500 arm, doing this probably would've been $100 or less including the shop labor.
Also to diagnosis where the squeak is coming from, you can spray them with water which will stop the squeak for a bit which will allow you to confirm which bushing is squeaking instead of having to fire the parts cannon.

This is only a temporary fix as soon as it wears off and you go through puddles of rain and snow the noise will come back. The bushings are worn so eventually they're going to have to be replaced. But you can also use spray Grease and it will last a lot longer than just a silicone spray. Everything's a rip off with these cars today they can make the bushings last for 50 to 80 years but they don't because they want you to replace them just like the brake lines they can make everything rust free but they don't because again it's all about money money money that's what the whole world is based on. Actually it's based on everything is a ripoff

Then they wonder why we have so much pollution and all this go green crap is Bullchitz. They should put laws into place, where parts will not need repair for more than 10 years, so this way, it creates less waste, less pollution do to less recycle and Manufacturing plants to make these parts, over and over and over.
By allowing cheap non lasting parts, go green is a Hoax by all means.

Yeah that's really smart. Spray the crap out of everything near your brake assembly.... Screech... Smash, bang, boom,!!
I'm not sure what happen officer, my brakes didn't work at all. But my suspension was soooo quiet.. Please don't spray any kind of lubricant with such disregard anywhere near your brakes for your safety. Sometimes just taking your car to the carwash and spraying all of those areas with the tire cleaner and then hot soapy water will get all the brake dust of which is what causes some of that in the first place.

If your bushing is squeaking and spraying it with lube takes care of the noise, dirt was likely able to get in already. I don't think spraying it with lube would make that problem worse.
