I think that she promotes Civilian Cyberware, a novelty really, Kiroshi is the way to go, no one should skimp on opticals 📀📀📀📀 plus privacy is a valuable commodity, so the product she has showcased is a pass.
Well the hardware would belong to you but the software that runs it would be owned by the corp. That's basically what all those EULAs you agree to when running a program or app on your computer or phone for the first time boil down to. That said, there might be ways of "jailbreaking" your implants so you can replace the proprietary software with open-source software that isn't owned by a corporation. I suspect its standard practice for ripperdocs to use open-source software in the implants they sell since said proprietary software might have some really nasty DRM built-in.

It woulda been so cool if you could switch optic brands and it changes your hud. Like Arasaka eyes bring back the prologue hud or if Dynalar eyes had the Johnny Silverhand hud. Or if each brand’s cyberware was geared towards a certain build-like Arasaka towards stealth, militech towards assault, Moore for melee-and having multiple of the same brand gives you a buff. So much wasted potential.

Face plates are a common implant, as they make it easier to replace optics and other neural implants. Also, you can do nearly anything to your face plate, and get a new one if you don't like the results! (warranty may vary, don't get crazy until you read the fine print)

They maybe saw the sales and pre-sales figures as CDPR being cashed up, might have thought that CDPR aren't the most popular atm with all the lawsuits and anger a lot have over the game allegedly not performing as expected and thought.... "here's a good target, they might want to cave in early to avoid more bad publicity, might just give it a go for some quick cash" Or, more simply, there are bots and scripts running around the internet that search and test for known vulnerabilities all the time. Plenty of sites round where you can download them. If they find a vulnerability, the load an exploit for the hacker to use. That's why all the OS's constantly put out updates and security fixes. CDPR just got unlucky (or someone got lazy) and the bot found them.
