You should look into the fuel pump. Changed mine in a 214k mile 328i, and it definitely made a difference. However, i did change mine because I kept noticing the car's 'eagerness' after a complete refuel. Seems like the sheer weight pressure was helping a dying pump
Found you because I just bought that same bumper for my track car. I have 2 328i sedans, one a 97 and the other a 98. Both have the ZF 5-speed and one takes MTF and one ATF per the labels on the transmissions. So, you gotta look on the actual trans to know. These cars are pretty good to work on but just hard to troubleshoot sometimes. I've found just cleaning the MAF periodically helps and I've also had a host of problems I eventually sourced to a cheap and easy to replace failing coolant temp sensor. Keep up the E36 content!
My e36 compact in 1st gear and rarely in 2nd gear, the clutch or transmission is having issues, like it's jerky and the whole car just speed slow speed slow pretty hard
Hey Logan! I followed your advice today. Hooked up a smoke machine to intake on my e30.. found a huge vacuum leak from the oil cap. Replaced it and my cold start is smoother than ever. Ty ty!
WOOHOO! nicely done - those dang vacuum leaks are everywhere and nearly IMPOSSIBLE to track down without the right tools, good on you for getting out the smoke machine.
Great video!, just as a heads up for next time the oil filter holds more oil than you think so pulling it out before draining the oil will help get all the nasty out of there 🤌
I am currently sneaking around the kitchen whipping up a PB&J like the degenerate goblin I am, and 3:12 scared the bejesus out of me when you said my name haha. Glad the car is perking up a bit!!
@@logan-taylor yeah, I've gone through 4 sensors, one being hella that didn't work when the car was cold and lasted half a year max, not even Continental/VDO works, only the original one does, and it makes a night and day difference on performance. If you use BMW software it will throw a code for it when reading the ECU.
Man I miss my e36 the e46 is alright but e36 is just the perfect bmw, you should get a Rktune or revmatch tune it’ll definitely give you about 10-20 hp
@@clutchtribe4094 alright thanks for the tips - values are way up but based on the e30 market went i don’t think e36s will drop in price any time soon (unfortunately)
As the M52 family of engines is based on a Siemens ECU, every sensor needs to be Siemens/VDO. I mean every sensor. Crankshaft, Camshaft, MAF, O2. If you're replacing parts and you put in a part that is not Siemens, the engine will run and drive, but you will be missing out on performance and fuel consumption. Camshaft and Crankshaft sensors will degrade over time, you will not really notice, up until they give up and you can't turn on your engine. Before changing my Camshaft Positions sensor, i had owned my E36 for about 4 years. In this period i noticed that on decceleration the engine had a slight burble and pop overrun. After changing the Camshaft Position sensor with an OEM one, the burble and pops went away completely. This is one sign of a degraded cam sensor. Engine pulls a lot better and much better fuel consumption.
@@backnd_2329 ah, if it’s not shutting off better just take it out overnight. It likely won’t drain your battery basically at all (it’s such a small power draw) but better safe than sorry
@@logan-taylor I ended up buy new ones they were not so bad in terms of prices in south Africa. But I suggest that you look into them, make sure they spray according to specifications

I’m glad to see people from Seattle the 206 being on TH-cam! We have to do more car meets!
Agreed!
@@logan-taylor where do you get your car mods done I’m in Seattle with a stock gs300
@fly_with_t.y.5654 in my garage! there are more shops up north of seattle a bit, it just depends on what you’re looking to do.

@@logan-taylor right. Vacuum leaks remind me of trying to eliminate interior squeaks. Fix the loudest so you can hear the next 🤣
hahaha the never ending pursuit
What smoke machine you use?! Thanks
Pro tip there Dave🙏 plus the fuel cap, I heard it can cause pressure leaks if not replaced
What a beautiful e36 man always loved the verts. That colour combo is pure elegance.
thank you so much man that’s so kind!

thanks so much!!! I appreciate it
The original e36 fuel filter has a BMW logo on it, as do all OE parts. Your fuel filter in Dory was manufactured in 2007 judging by the date on it.
yoooo this is expert detective work thank you
@@logan-taylor I'll update you in a week or two on if I have an original in my 1995...I see a BMW logo peeking out....
I have a 92 e36 325 is 5 speed I enjoy this thanks 😊
Fire vid as always 🔥🔥
thank u thank u 🙏
That hella cam sensor is shit sadly, the only one that works is the genuine bmw one that costs like $160
i’m honestly glad i didn’t install it yet - when it comes time i’ll go with BMW, thanks for the tip

Wait it's a BMW and you're looking for codes that aren't there? Are you sure there's an engine in the car?
hi what fm transmitter is in your cigarette port? thanks
Anker ROAV! It works pretty well overall, no complaints.
