the new triton 2017 4x4 has the same Mivec 2.4 engine with max. power output of 133 kw (178 hp), 430 n-m of torque, 3.5 tons towing cap. and also has super select II 4wd system with sport mode. the most important thing here is the engine efficiency at 38-48 mpg depending on the driving condition
I have to say, my dad owns a Hilux and it is slow, but in Malaysia, people buy that car because it is cheaper, reliable, and spare parts are available everywhere. They use the Toyota Hilux to carry oil palm and that L200 or Triton as we called it here are no match. Even the Ford Ranger are no use because spare parts are really expensive, less buyers but I admit it is a safer truck than the Hilux.
My family friend has this car. Mitsubishi L200 year 2015 but previous model 2,4Td, (100kw),manual .I itself have a cheap old car, but I am car enthusiast and I´ve driven many cars. Expensive cars, cheap cars, sports , sedans, coupes, 4x4 off road , custom ,hot rod cars and so on. Many different brands. I have to mention that the Mitsubishi L200 2015 as well as , and certainly the last also, are one of the best 4x4 cars at all ! So their quality, driveability , techniques, visibility, economy, very comfort seats and so on ! It is a versatile car that is designed for large loads - 3 ton to tow trailers, etc. Mitsubishi L200 has very good and precise maneuvering and handling at slow speeds (much better than the D'Max Isuzu, Toyota, Ford...). Steering precision at highway cruising speeds are also good although more turns! Better turning radius! Compared to other cars of the same class : L200l has much better driver seating position, large and a better outlook from the car windows, large and very good viewing angle mirrors . Mitsubishi L200 moves much better and accelerates better than described in the technical data! Do not forget to 4x4 cars to drive only the first 1000 km on the transmission gears permitted speed in this period and the transport of all positions (2wd, 4wd, 4wd low-)!So 4x4 cars serve you for many years very well ! Metal body and frame parts are of better quality and strength, as in many others, the same class of cars. Cabin plastics are harder and more durable. I'm about 179cm tall and L200 for me is much more comfortable than the seats on several, a lot more expensive cars ! Few days ago , in Estonia: L200 stood -24C frost degrees in about 16 hours, and the engine start-up in half-turn engine rotation ! Excellent car, excellent price and excellent buy !
The Amarok in this video was the older 2.0 TDi, because the V6 wasn't introduced until late 2016. So of course the L200 would be faster, but the Amarok V6 would spank the L200 anyday.
Mitsubishi L200 is Excellent universal car ! Quality is much better than many other same class cars ! Driving position and visibility and so on and on .....!
Mitsubishi should really introduce their truck to the US market. The new Colorado has revitalized the midsize pickup market here. It'd be nice to see the VW too.
Glad the Triton become better. And i like Mitsubishi also because they had great history in racing ("Dakar Rally" and "World Rally championship"). Mitsubishi are sometimes underrated from people including me before, but from my own experience with my relatives, I had opportunity to drive and also become passanger in the mitsubishi Montero Sport for long journeys and i'm feel comfortable & feels not too tired better than in my honda CR -V and toyota Fortuner(in fortuner sometimes i feel dizzy & queasy , maybe because of the suspensions & body movement). And montero sport's horsepower & torque are great enough for overtaking on the motorway and climbing/ hill roads, & Fun to drive also. But still every car has it's own weakness, test drive personally orwith freinds or family. Peace :)
Liked the video, but the whole point of low range, is it to be really low. And we have just parked a boat on a trailer up a hill in a Hilux, so we now why the very low range gearbox is important.
I think the race is unfair, of course the l200 win it is the newest of the three. A properly competition will be the l200 with the new Nissan navara that has 188 HP and new Hilux, both have not been released in the UK yet.
So are you going to redo this when the new Hilux , Navarra and Amarok turn up, in 2016 with a fully loaded 3500kg trailer now that would be a fairer and probably more enlightening than comparing a 3 year and 9 year old design and engines with only the first of the new pick-ups coming out one the next 12 months.
Try to do this with this L200 and then we talk... "Hilux with 305,775 km (190,000 mi) on the odometer was subjected to extraordinary abuse. This consisted of driving it down a flight of steps, scraping buildings, crashing headlong into a tree, being washed out to sea, and being submerged in sea water for four hours, driving it through a garden shed, dropping a caravan onto it, hitting it with a wrecking ball, setting its cabin and bed area on fire, and, finally, placing it on top of a 73 m (240 ft) block of apartments that was next destroyed by a building implosion. Although it was now suffering from severe structural damage, the truck was still running after being repaired without spare parts, and with only typical tools that would be found in a truck's toolbox, such as screwdrivers, motor oil, and an adjustable wrench"
+skybluesky1000 shorten gear ratios (usually by half or so), so you get more torque multiplication from the gearbox. it's for the heavy stuff (mud, or towing really heavy crap on bad terrain, etc).
Because it is more readily available. I live in Iraq, leave a g63 AMG out there and don't lock it, It would not get stollen. Leave a hilux, lock the doors, steering wheel and the gas pedal, it disappears. Most hilux's come with the stupid 2.7 petrol engine here and there very few L200's and navara's. So they steal hilux's.
Mitsubooshi!! Lol Chris gough reviewing the Pajero back in the 90's. I know this because I bought a 93 Pajero a few years ago and looked up the old top gear review on the web. Nice to see Matt sliding down the same slippery slope that top gear went down. Moving from consumer advice to car based entertainment and losing nothing in the process. Lol go on son!!
For the most part these vehicles are pointless unless you are a farmer who has to carry 4 people and kit. Or work off road. They are trying to combine too much into one vehicle and ends up being a bit compromised in a lot of areas.
proper testing, americans do it all the time with their pick-up trucks it should be done more often, drag race everything that has wheels is proper journalism
missing the chev s10, ford ranger and the nissan frontier i think the s10 takes it. ironically, the brazilian mid-end flex direct injection version is the fastest with a 0-62 time of 9.2 seconds, while these diesel ones hover around 10~13. btw never buy the amarok. i have one and it SUCKS at being a pickup. it can't handle anything without breaking and parts are expensive as fuck for no good reason. depreciates hella fast too. terrible. and the worst thing is that you'll freaking love it for the first 6 thousand miles because it's so confortable and drives so well for a pickup. hilux on the other hand might not be a performer, but it never lets you down. mine (a 2010 2.5l diesel, which is WAAAAAAAAY slower than any of these with a 0-62 time of 19 seconds) has over 100k miles on it and never went wrong. and it's not like we take easy on it. it does its fair share of heavy work. looking to buy that s10 next.
just because it says invincible on the side doesnt mean it has the most power. toyta purpose built the 3.0l with less power so it would be a low stress engine, in turn more reliable.
the Mitsubishi is simply the best of the three in all terms, offloading the vw and the hilux are simply no match for the l200
Amarok all day long. It actually feels like a car to sit in and drive, and not a tractor..
the new triton 2017 4x4 has the same Mivec 2.4 engine with max. power output of 133 kw (178 hp), 430 n-m of torque, 3.5 tons towing cap. and also has super select II 4wd system with sport mode. the most important thing here is the engine efficiency at 38-48 mpg depending on the driving condition
my grandpa has a 1996 l200 still running like new
Car names in Philippines
VW Amaraok (Same)
Toyota Hi Lux (Same)
Mitsubishi Strada (L200)
That VW is so dirty, it makes pornstars blush!
Test which one is producing the highest emissions...
1st place for the dirtiest pick up goes to the VW
+Laurynas S. that'd be funny if the Amarok was affected in the first place.
+Laurynas S. Nobody gives a shit!
Protector of the Republic It was a joke, having in mind VW emission fraud with their diesel engines and in this video Amarok have a diesel engine.
who fucking cares?
Mitsubishi the best , the oldest japanese manufacturer and jet fighter manufacturer

Milarepa thanks for the info. This could help me in decision on choosing which pick up to buy.
Nice to hear ! This is a good car! This new model is even more economical!Lloyd G
Im actually surprised since the Amarok is faster than a Wildtrak, L200 must be quickest of the bunch then!
The Amarok in this video was the older 2.0 TDi, because the V6 wasn't introduced until late 2016. So of course the L200 would be faster, but the Amarok V6 would spank the L200 anyday.
I have a L200 Trojan
2..5 Remaped to 210 Bhp and I love it
Mitsubishi L200 is Excellent universal car ! Quality is much better than many other same class cars ! Driving position and visibility and so on and on .....!
you know you know, hilux/fortuner and innova( in indonesia) its same engine..with 2500cc.
The first gen d4d fits the innova but not the Fort. Even my Mitsubishi Koda managed to bully the Fort.
UPDATE!!!
We want the latest 2.8 litre Hilux, the latest 3.2 litre Ford Ranger and the latest 3.0 litre VW Amarok V6.
PLEASE!
Siear the hikux conquest vs strada 2019. The hikux got smoked by strada
Mitsubishi should really introduce their truck to the US market. The new Colorado has revitalized the midsize pickup market here. It'd be nice to see the VW too.
More fun oriented videos like this one! :) It looks like you have fun and it's definitely entertaining to watch.
What was the point in the low range race? Both cars would have performed fine in AWD High...
would still buy the VW
I love my hilux 2.8D...
Glad the Triton become better. And i like Mitsubishi also because they had great history in racing ("Dakar Rally" and "World Rally championship"). Why does the UK and the rest of Europe get the all-new models of these pick-ups much later than South East Asia and Australia?
Liked the video, but the whole point of low range, is it to be really low. And we have just parked a boat on a trailer up a hill in a Hilux, so we now why the very low range gearbox is important.
Where is Ford Ranger???
Navara??
Toyota Hilux used to be a great pick up that lasted forever, now average at best, even the bodywork dents by just looking at it .
Why wasn't the isuzu Dmax included in this video
Where is the new HIlux Revo 2015 ..why use the old one
Too much Lockheed TriStar distraction in the background :)
Seriously you didnt get THE NEW FUCKING HILUX?
That's right the new King Revo with his crown TRD.
L200 is the best my opinion
Try with the new hilux, new Navara, X class 350D (V6), Amarok V6 and the last Ford Ranger. It would be interessant yeah 😬
what about the Ford Ranger?
why don't you try the new hilux with 2.8 and 6 speed then you will be losing in the all categories
Well, there's no 2.8 Hilux
Andreas Lie wake up , the 2016 comes with 2.8 turbo diesel with 450 nm of torque
Not out yet then...?
They cant do a test with a vehicle thats not out on the market yet you know...
Andreas Lie it is out of market man , I know 3 friends already bought it
L200 is the number one of pick up trucks.
And whats the new mitsubishi's 0-60?
Pickup with Paddel Shift??
Hilux seemed rubbish, but i saw a woman driving it, so maybe not quite fair comparison if its that woman who did the other drag race recently. 02:46
+MS No the Hilux is slow.
+MS Yep I thought exactly the same. I wonder if Matt was driving one of the other cars, if he would still win the drag race.
Pls wait for New Hilux 2015 which has already been launched in Canada and Australia.
khm ... what about the Ford Ranger 3.2 ? ..
Slower low range is better as you have more torque for towing or offroading
Mitsubishi has been my favorite car so I just got myself outlander 2023 sel
Check them 10yrs later and see which one held up.The Hilux is still the best of the three.
I think the race is unfair, of course the l200 win it is the newest of the three. A properly competition will be the l200 with the new Nissan navara that has 188 HP and new Hilux, both have not been released in the UK yet.

100% of 20 kilos of pm10 was produce by the same car... which one?
that vw has the same Passat engine?
Drive it like you stole it...
2:46 was that a female ride the red hilux ?
Yes, thats why The hilux lost.
@@leanytb9287 i don't think so as you look at the specs the Hilux is down on everything
Mitsubishi, it’s fast but will it last !
where is the new hilux?
Try to do this with this L200 and then we talk...
"Hilux with 305,775 km (190,000 mi) on the odometer was subjected to extraordinary abuse. topgear did this test right?, and btw. you can't compare a new l200 to a 80s hilux. maybe the new hilux dies before the new l200
OK ITS OK, WHAT U SAY IS SO STUPID, 305,775 KM!! AJJAJAJA WHAT A JOKE, JUST CHEK L200 DO MORE THAN 1000 000 KM AND NO CRY, TOYOTA FAN BOY DETECTED!
Turn off the TV hahahaha!!!1
Now try this with the petrol engines. I'd love to see how it goes
whats the low gear thing? I've seen some car have it but I have no clue it does.
+skybluesky1000 shorten gear ratios (usually by half or so), so you get more torque multiplication from the gearbox. it's for the heavy stuff (mud, or towing really heavy crap on bad terrain, etc).
+GraveUypo does trucks also have the L gear as well or does only pick up trucks and cars have it?
+skybluesky1000 Trucks have gears spliters and other things. Low range is just a different final drive so to speak.
Who buy these cars for speed? No one!
you guys should have used a 3.0 manual 2014 hilux from england
This adds to the mystery of why ISIS prefer to use Toyota trucks.
Because it is more readily available. I live in Iraq, leave a g63 AMG out there and don't lock it, It would not get stollen. Mitsubishi power😂😂
Imagine what a rubbish is the 2.5 liter hilux.
Why is Toyota so slow?
The Nissan Navara should be there. With the 3.0 turbo diesel 190hp or 230hp. It would be faster.
+Miguel Pereira (CarsOnBoard) Agree. The new Hilux is out in many markets as well.
why dont test these cars another way like pull some hevy thing.
truks dont design for acceleration
Anybody else notice it was Rebecca Chaplin putting the Toyota into low range?
Chevy Colorado vs vw amarok vs Mitsubishi Triton vs Toyota Hilux plss
what about the Ford Ranger

Awesome. More of this. It is fairly entertaining!
Aye because i want to buy a pick up to do a couple of drag races in, WIT!
we used to have an l200 (chip tunned)... but than my dad bought a outlander instead. :(
So i happen to like the l200s,
But I'd really like seeing it up again the ranger or the navara ..
Smoked already by mitsu
its not true come on amarok had 1/4 miles on 16.5 sec where is justice ?
You forget the new Nissan Navara,it has a 7 speed gearbox
Sponsored video against two main competitors, which are probably much better cars.
L200 Triton is a best
Mitsubishi is best
Where's the ranger ?
Phil Elvambuena Still in the jungle lol
that's why mitsubishi is a 12x dakar rally champion,,
I live in the US and we don't have the hilux, amarok and l200 yet we are the lovers of pickups ironic huh
because im bored and i like Auto Express
Best economy? I would give that to the d max.
toyota hilux is best for hauling and loading heavy weights. best by far
I'm a Toyota guy. I buy a pick-up for hard work, reliability and durability and not for speed or comfort.
Why?
MIT TRITON LATEST MODEL MOST HANDSOME
I like the Ford Ranger... about the same class as these
new tecnology l200 vs old tecnology hilux . ıf you try new hilux 2.8 you will see the best
The new Hilux is still slower
proper testing, americans do it all the time with their pick-up trucks
it should be done more often, drag race everything that has wheels is proper journalism

looking to buy that s10 next.
Sponsored by Mitsubishi.
They are actually sponsored by vw.
1:12 Mitsabooshy powaaaa!
nissan?
That's Matt from car wow
Try it again after Toyota have the new HiLux here!
Chris Chilton the 2.4 Mitsubishi triton has much powerful then 2.5- 2.8 and 3.0 hilux revo ..
The nissan navara smallest engine is more powerful than all of these. so why no nissan navara.
"mitsuboshi powa" almost ended me
Why would you want a faster LOW RANGE
He obviously never owned a 4wd before cause he understands nothing he didn't even test the reliability the hilux isn't cranked up like the others
For low range, the slower the better...not the other way around...!
Mitsubishi the best king number One champion
just because it says invincible on the side doesnt mean it has the most power. toyta purpose built the 3.0l with less power so it would be a low stress engine, in turn more reliable.
