I've always loved this particular piece. Bach has the ability to take your emotions across the full spectrum in just 3 minutes. From light and bright to deep and introspective. And Rondeau once again absolutely does this piece justice. Certainly one of the best interpreters of Baroque harpsichord music around.
We all must be so lucky, that we borned after Bach and not before him... otherwise we wohld miss all these epic music things.. May be somebody knows which BWV it is? And many thaks to Jean Rondeau for playing of course!
To me, the beginning sounds like a glorious sunrise. It got me thinking whether the two parts represent day and night. The second part (from 1:35) does resemble twinkling stars at first, and is overall a bit darker than the first part. It also ends with the same chord as the beginning of the first part; where sunrise begins. I could be wrong, I don't know anything about it, but that's my impression. I would expect that kind of esoteric stuff from classical artists.
your interpretation is a bit much too happy compared to mine... I sense it a bit more nostalgic and desolate, longing for somthing that never came... I will now try to hear it through your interpretation.
"Die Allemande nun ist eine gebrochene, ernsthaffte und wol ausgearbeitete Harmonie, welche das Bild eines zufriedenen oder vergnügten Gemüthes trägt, das sich an guter Ordnung und Ruhe ergetzet." (J. Mattheson, Der vollkommene Capellmeister, 1739, S. 232.)
Always best to ask when you don’t know. Ignore those who put you down for asking. I think it’s a modern copy of an 18th century French harpsichord with a beautiful tone. I hope you are up to grade 8 by now 😀
Though this is supposed to be a dance number, I wonder how the Great Bach imagined people dancing to this?🤣🤣🤣🤣 No, disrespect to the great master, though.
I'm a guy, and I like scruffy. Nice piece of Gallic eye candy. In the live "Beauty and the Beast, one of the household has been changed into a harpsichord. Rondeau playing the Royer "Vertigo" could very well be a living harpsichord.
Oh, connecting ‘decency’ with wearing a tie puts you in an archaic and questionable category, Richard van Egneem: neoliberalism is truly not longer a desirable status. Furthermore, Rondeau’s performance here is at a level that surpasses that of concerns with ties. I suggest: listen to the art again and learn.

Chiara and thank you for your postings too.
It’s a pleasure to hear him playing so good, so young and wonderfull

Very nice ,a dream of harmony and peace 🌺🎶...Bach
Quelle juste interprétation, quelle plénitude !

Enjoy watching you play almost as much as I love the music. Perfect musicianship!
Un interprète tout bonnement exceptionnel... Un moment de grâce

Jean grandioso Bach eterno 💐
What a wonderful harpsichord, played to perfection. I must learn this piece.
A flat E flat and B flat. Why not write it in the key of C ? 😀
Really excellent, played with much feeling and sensitivity! Bravo Jean :)!

symmetry happens often in Bach, especially in the Suites ; your interpretation is poetical and beautiful
What a beautiful interpretation, extremely poetical as another comment said!
your interpretation is a bit much too happy compared to mine... I sense it a bit more nostalgic and desolate, longing for somthing that never came... I will now try to hear it through your interpretation.
I agree with you. I see this kind of 'stories' in each of his cello suites too.
Fantastic!
Tempo ..perfect.
C'est tout simplement très beau. Merci Jean
J'aime bcp bcp bcp ce que tu fais
Wonderful!
Excellent performance, beautiful audio and video. I will certainly look for more from the aptly named M. Rondeau!

Bravo! Merci Jean! salutations des Etats-Unis
May be sharon would like to know who made this particular instrument?
To which I might answer Anthony Sidey who works in Paris, I think.

Can you credit the BWV number (namely BWV 815), please?
Do you know where one can find the complete suite played by Rondeau?
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ♥
can somebody please tell me what that instrument is???? I'm preparing for my grade 6 piano exams and these stuff come for aural tests.....
It is a harpsichord, dominant instrument of the baroque era.
+enoch sharon Hmmm... so you are preparing for grade 6 piano exams and you don't even know what an harpsichord is? Interesting...
Dude, chill.
Always best to ask when you don’t know. Ignore those who put you down for asking. I think it’s a modern copy of an 18th century French harpsichord with a beautiful tone. I hope you are up to grade 8 by now 😀
Ah grade 6. That's my next one. I expect you're on 7 or 8 by now?
Bach’s idea of a dance is one of the funniest things!
Ha ha, that's what I thought. He's the God of music but sometimes.........😂😂😂😂
Though this is supposed to be a dance number, I wonder how the Great Bach imagined people dancing to this?🤣🤣🤣🤣 No, disrespect to the great master, though.
He didn’t; it was the form, not intended to be danced.
@@waynesmith6784 Really? How do you know?
Vikram, there are many, many simple books on the Baroque Era in music for beginners.
Beautiful music! Dude needs a haircut, though (or a comb, or something...)
Dude can appear as he pleases so long as he plays like that! And, to be sure, dude can appear as he please anyway.
@@waynesmith6784 Very true...my apologies. Dude has all the right to uncomb his hair as he pleases
Why is the harpsichore out of tune
Baroque tuning is about half a step flatter than today's tuning
It isn’t- Baroque Tuning.
Bach looked better than him.
You’ve seen Bach?
Playing is beautiful, BUT his body movements and facial grimaces are gratuitous, and detract, imo, from the musicianship.
can he have the decency to wear a tie for his performances??scruffy sod...
Lol so true XD
It takes all sorts......
He was very decently dressed for this performance in comparison of how he is usually !
