I live 1 hour from the Basilica of Nossa Senhora Aparecida here in Brazil, and my community is dedicated to her. It is very beautiful to see how all nations are in unity through the Holy Catholic Church, and it is very beautiful to see such strong devotion also in this basilica in the USA. This news makes me very happy. I am Catholic and Brazilian. I have received many graces through the intercession of Our Lady of Aparecida. It is important to add some details to the story told in the video. According to tradition, the fishermen were unable to catch any fish. And they were in a hurry, because they had been threatened by the local authorities. When they were about to give up, one of them cast his net and first caught the body of the image and then, casting the net once more, caught the head. Yes! The image was broken, in a river. What were the chances of finding the body and the head afterwards? It is said that, as soon as they put the image back together, the river filled with fish and they caught a great catch. There are several stories about the image of Our Lady of Aparecida. For me, the most precious was the following. When there was still slavery in Brazil, a slave was running away and went to take refuge in the little chapel where the image of the Virgin was. The slave had chains on his hands and, seeing the image, begged the Virgin to free him from them. Then, just as the foremen were about to capture him, the chains broke. This story became so well-known that, it is said, Princess Isabel (daughter of the second emperor of Brazil) accepted it as confirmation that it was Our Lady's wish to end slavery in Brazil. This would have been yet another reason for Princess Isabel to support the abolitionist cause and be the person to sign the law that formalized the end of slavery in the country. Another interesting fact is that Our Lady of Aparecida is, in addition to being the patron saint, the queen of Brazil, as requested by Princess Isabel - whose family lost the throne shortly after the abolition of slavery was signed.

I love the commentary in the end that the different apparitions of Mother Mary help us to see better who she is and the God she introduces to us, and Our Lady Aparecida message is all about blessings to the ones that go to God through her with faith and simplicity, the poor, the humble, she blesses hugely everyone who asks her, and I’m sure USA will have so many blessings through Our Lady Aparecida from now on, she is there to bless this country everyone there who is in need and don’t know what or how to ask but have faith, she is the mother of those ones
And it is funny because many other apparitions are about warnings and messages but in Aparecida is all about blessings to the humble who asks with faith, and she make so many miracles everyday here in Brazil, you guys have NO IDEA!!! Just a small correction: the original statue is made of clay, not wood. It was originally polychromed (painted), but lost all of its color due to having remained submerged for years.
