- In todays video we cut the entire stock exhaust off of the 3.6 VR6 Passat exhaust (resonator delete,
muffler delete) and replaced It with a fully custom 2.5 inch, X-pipe, True dual straight pipe into two
valved mufflers. This set up gives the VR6 a deep and aggressive tone below 4k rpm and screams
above It, Although its deafeningly loud with the valves open, when the valves are closed Its quieter
than stock!

The vr6 is hands down a top 10 best sounding engine of all time. My wife has a VR6 Passat as well. I’ve been begging her to let me do the exhaust but she’s like “I like my car quiet”. Some just don’t get it lol

Wanna know a secret? lol, When slowing down in 4th @ about 2000 rpm, downshift with paddle to 2 quickly to second and then floor it. Best backfires man, do it in my all the time haha. Great sound, maybe I'll do this to mine one day

Does your GT or anyone's consume a lot of engine oil?
@tutaramuje Mbahuma All engines have oil consumption. Considering idle time, city driving/ stop and go, or if you simply drive hard. If the burn off is excessive, you may have other issues. Previously owned a 2012 Passat with the 3.6. It indeed consumed its fair share of oil. Usually needed a top off at roughly 3-4k before reaching my next oil change at 5k. Currently own another Passat with the 3.6 and always have some oil in trunk just incase. Just try not to dog her all the time 🤘
You guys have done EXACTLY what I have been wanting to do for YEARS on my GT same exact setup I’ve thought up in my head COUNTLESS times hahahaha GREAT video and great sound. Almost not even thinking this was any sort of VR6 the sound is so mean lol lol and you can now even control it. Amazing. Wish I had the cash for this 😢

I need this
Been wanting to do exactly this to my GT too. I’ve seen a couple now but they always sounded meh. This is absolutely perfect. I was looking at Varex or Valvetronic mufflers. What did you guys go with?
It’s always hard because I watch videos of both and some sound great others sound absolute shit. Also can’t really tell because of different cameras and such.
Any info helps. A truly amazing project and amazing custom work. Very jealous I don’t know anyone around me who has that talent.
The exhaust note is definitely enhanced by the x pipe, we went with Amazon mufflers that are no longer sold although we just put some Ali baba mufflers on our LS430 and they do the same trick. Full straight pipe with an x pipe does the magic for the exhaust note and valved mufflers for the control 👍. If you want the link for the mufflers it’s in the comment section of the ls430 exhaust.

That sound only comes up if you shift with your foot to the floor, above 4K rpm. Loudest at redline.

All this work and effort to make the car sound like it's broken. I guess you don't know the difference between loud sound and good sound. By just cutting off things you make it sound loud, but to make it sound good, you have to replace what you cut off with something better. Fbucking teenage Americans....
