i like the creativity of niche aesthetics, i like seeing a particular mood or concept played out. i think the problem lies in confining yourself to a niche aesthetic. sometimes you wanna be girly, sometimes edgy, and just bc you wear one thing that day shouldnt define your entire career, hobbies, or personality. we're all three dimensional humans who have a variety of interests and dont fit into all one box. i feel like this is more for younger teens (or terminally online teens and adults) who feel like having a set aesthetic would make feel like they have their life together.
i also think with so many niche aesthetics they can often dilute a unique subculture and strip the style out of its original context to the point where it's just boring or rely on the fact the person is skinny. like you know when you go on tiktok where people are just combining words and just saying shit bc wtf is clean goth go outside

About signature pieces, my boyfriend pointed out I have I signature outfit + makeup. He named it blackout since is a black bustier, a black skirt that looks over used, black tights, my knockoff docmarten boots, a bunch of bracelets, a choker + a necklace, fun pair of earrings (I tend to use spider ones), black lipstick and bold eyeliner

I never thought abt having a signature piece but as you mentioned it I realized that most of the times I wear crescent moon shaped earrings and a pearl necklace☺️

I live in Germany, so obviously can't talk about the US, but here it definitely seems like niche aesthetics are dying, because everyone now - at least in my city - wears nearly the same black outfit head to toe, even to the club.

Another amazing video and I loved all of your points. I've started making so many of my clothes- mostly crochet and some sewn. I make a lot of my jewelry, and I look for very unique pieces. I get so many compliments on my "style." I think my aesthetic is all over the place, to be honest, but wearing a crazy top that I crochet and being able to say "I made this" feels really fun. I just moved to a place with some fantastic vintage stores and rocked up to New Years with a Barbie-pink beaded top with shoulder pads that I wore over a little black dress and I was SO proud of my vintage find.

Very CEREBRAL video. It was evident that you put a lot of thought into this one. It was intentional, one of your buzzwords, on your part. You spent the first couple of minutes apologizing, though--I'm nobody, blah blah blah. You didn't show CONFIDENCE, your main buzzword. Dion, you have 10,500+ subscribers. We look to you for advice, insight, etc. We have confidence in YOU. Now to substance. Well, I sort of already did that. Intention, effort--there's an art medal you may be familiar with, L'Effort?😃 Yes, when you make l'effort "when you go out in this world" and when that is apparent, you are ipso facto stylish; when you dress, however you dress, with CONFIDENCE, you are ipso facto stylish. On specifics, I LOVED the "bold outerwear" suggestion. You are so right that it transforms the wearer into a nested doll, there are layers to it, layering being your ninth "instantly stylish" suggestion. For guys in the business suit world, this is a question, not rhetorical, Is a bold necktie outerwear? Or a signature piece? An accessory? That last would be my guess. DIY and tailoring--yes. When you wear something that fits you like it was made for you--because you made it for yourself or it WAS made for you (bespoke) that gives you unspeakable confidence. I really loved this vid. A zillion thumbs up!
