- In September 2023, 43 riders cycled 100km up and down Trollstigen, Norway's most famous road. I hired a drone operator for the day and he captured over 45 minutes of incredible footage. The original condensed film and story can be found here: • The Day We Tried to Cl...
This is the 'unedited' version of only drone shots. Sit back and watch the adventure unfold in 4K HD as we climb and descend Trollstigen together.

Truly staggeringly beautiful. My brother John and I planned this for 2020 but covid came along and stopped us. In 2022 we decided on a tour of the Alps with plans for Norway on hold for 2023. Our John, 57, devastatingly and suddenly, died just a week before our Alps trip, our bikes rides together ended forever. And my second brother Tony, 41, died on his bike in 2007. Both of them gone. I shed tears watching this. My heart burns with pain that they won't be with me when I do it next year. But I will do it next year. Thank you.
People live on in our memories and our hearts, my friend. They will be there. Ride on.
Cheers izen.@@izen10100
You should ride anyways for the memorial ❤. Just do it
will do mate! @@equinistrahorses6221
On top of your regular videos, more like this would be incredible. The length of the vid, drone footage, plus tidbits of info are fantastic.
It's inspiring to see so many cyclists come together to conquer such a famous and challenging road in Norway. The drone footage added another level of stunning visuals to the already breathtaking scenery. Great job capturing the essence of this epic cycling adventure! 🙌🤩
Thanks 👍
Lucky 43 pioneer group riders! Wow! Good bike mojo to get the weather right.
It's always sunny at Trollstigen. 😅
Beautiful video. Best I have seen on the Trollstigen. Even better that it showed cyclists riding up it. A++++.
No words can describe the beauty. Thank you.
I only can say wow wow wow🤩, incredible what a stunning shots/views 👍 this ride was out of this world ☺️ respect for all the cyclists and you Matthew for making this real and taking us from all around the world with you on this epic event, with this video. We were at Trollstigen a year to early Sept. 2022 🤣🤣
Awesome thanks so much for sharing ❤🏴
Glad you enjoyed it

(Great drone footage❤)
I did this ride on my MTB, starting and ending in Åndalsnes, 14 years ago. On the way up I noticed that my disc brakes needed adjustment (I had almost no braking ability) so I decided to do that before going back downhill. It turned out that the brake pads were actually all gone! I had to ride down again with my seat very low, one foot on a pedal and the other foot trailing/dragging along the asphalt. Since this was in the middle of the day, in July, I also had to avoid all the cars, trucks and buses.
When I got back down I rode directly to a local bike shop and got my brakes fixed!
It was still a beautiful trip, made even more memorable by that little technical issue...
I guess they say what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!
By far one of the most serene and spectacular cycling video so well captured that few scenes are worth an award. The score added icing on the cake and I enjoyed every bit of it. I literally got lost into it and still there. Wow!
Really nice to hear, thanks!
Wow! Stunning!
Wish I could like this a few hundred times! ❤💙💜💛💚🧡🤎🩷🩵
That was amazing. Well done.
That was truly breathtaking thank you 👍

You've outdone yourself Matthew! Unbelievable... Can't wait to ride this myself.
Amazing fottage!🚲

Later this year we will announce next years event,
There is one bad thing about this video…. I can only like it once.
That makes me want to ride in Norway. Such a beautiful video.
Join us next year!
@@matthewnorway I already thought about that.
Wonderful😍
Beautiful! Thank you.
Visual poetry
I love your videos. 24/7 commuting on a e bike alldays ,all sesons.for 11 years. Green like karlsberg beer 😊Cheers!
Simply breathtaking, as you say. Thank you so much for yet another wonderful film. Happy memories for me. I was there in 1970, when I was 12.
Sensational video and accompanying music. I feel a Norwegian magnet captivating my handlebars here far away in New Zealand
Norway is the NZ of Europe :)
Wow such incredible drone shots, really captured the essence of the day. Thank you again for organising the event, it was a real pleasure to be out there riding with this great group of cyclists
Thanks, Jan Erik, I look forward to next year ;)
I've been trying very hard to reduce my 'screen time' recently. It's very difficult when such spectacular views keep popping up on youtube. Thankyou Matthew ✌️
I think these sorts of videos are acceptable screen time :)
Just what I needed today, thank you ❤
Fantastic drone shots! So nice to relive the experience from the drone angle. Already looking forward to next year
Thanks, Dag, same here!
👍👌👏great video, thanks for sharing
incredible footage and riding
Magnificent.
Visually stunning! And with the score meditative. Also fun to see so many choose to go both ways…..what a workout.
I like both your styles: the newer more cinematic videos and your historic narrated first person perspective. Very cool! Thanks!
Many thanks 👍
WOW !!! 🚵♂️
Thanks very much Matthew, you've done it again! 🚴♂️👍
Edit; just reached the end where it asks "The World's Greatest Road?"
I've cycled in many different countries and I can't remember a tarmac road that beats this one for scenic beauty!
🙏
Trollstigen is been smother already, in the 1990 it was more like a road you find on Senja, Troms😃
Beautiful drone shots!
Thank you Matthew for these fantastic views and shoting! What a road, have to cycle it one day. Maybe next year.
Remove the word 'maybe'!
❤🔥🤙
Beautiful video 💚
What an amazing video. I can't find the words to say how wonderful that was. I was crying watching it. Steve
Stunning - invoked many memories - many thanks to all involved
Great video Matthew, would have loved to be there but was a few 100km north near to Brønnøysund. Autumn is a fantastic time for cycling in Norway, less people and amazing colours. Your video brings back amazing memories.
A few years ago there was a sign in the cafe at Gudbrandsjuvet "Os gallwch ddarllen hwn gallwch gael coffi am ddim" They had a Welsh guy working there, I had a free coffee 😊
If you organise a similar event next year I'm going to try and be there, old, slow but I can do it 😅
Speed doesn't matter; you're welcome to join!
Nice filming
❤❤
Stunningly beautiful. What a day it was. Love reliving it again :-) Thank you
Look forward to next year Graeme!
Awsome landscapes, hope one day ride this habitáculo ROAD.
We will be going there in June.
Cycling in the metaverse
"The old road to the left..." yet I have cycled on that (undamaged) section in 1998.
Good work son. Nominate a day each year, and let the people come eg the first Saturday in October (for example).
Work in with other major events eg The Oresund Bridge Run June 2025. I am coming over to do that, so a week later would be good for your ride.
Depart 14 juillet 2024 pour moi c magnifique , par contre je suis en moto 😂, belle Video 😊
I don't know what to say. I can see the touch of God on It.
what drone do you use?
how r u?. interesting . later-Matthewnorway~
