I can't resist commenting. That was one of the most beautiful, poignant, and well-put-together travel videos I have ever watched. The choice of music, the narration, let alone the outstanding views. I have to pinch myself that they were filmed by you as you did the journey and not with a film crew. Matthew - thank you for all the effort both in cycling it, filming but also lovingly editing it into something that is simply stunning. I was wowed by it all but left with a tear as you mentioned the couple e-cycling it. Award deserving.
Really appreciate your comment Martin. You loose some of the enjoyment of riding when you have to spend hours filming and stopping. It's a price I'm willing to pay right now so I can document this beautiful country by bike. It would be nice to get some better angled shots but with the magic of edit and music the flow and story over rides the lack of a camera crew.
I did this exact route in 2015, and the descent from Trollstigen is still one of my life's highlights-- I remember riding down with tears streaming from my face at weight of it all: the beauty, the stillness, the unity of the universe. Your video of the landscape was as beautiful as I remember, which is really saying something. Thank you for taking the time to pick good angles, charge your drone, and edit with such respect to a place I recall with such fondness.
Traveled Norway for 2 months in 2015 and Road 63 was part of the journey. Dalsnibba toll was closed so hiked (had no bike) up the 4.6 km road to the top. While at the summit 2 cyclists made it up, they were stunned by it all. It is a must if there, the views, the feelings and memories are irreplaceable. Everything Matthew said about it is spot on.
That opening is just speechless and encompasses everything that I love about Norway, travel and road trip. The music was just racking my brain and I had to literally go and scroll through a playlist until I found it; Dexter Britain “The Time To Run (Finale)”

What a joy to watch your videos. We spend our holidays in Norway cruising the fjords in our campervan this yeay and we are already longing to get back to this beautiful country. After seeing your fjord series, we are even longing more. Congrats on the filming, editing, and narrating. Amazing job. Also tons of respect for your endurance and hardship climbing those magnificent mountain roads.
That is one tough climb. And people should know: In July the traffic from Geiranger up to towards Dalsnibba is dense. There are buses, campers, campervans and cars everywhere. On those small, narrow roads that certainly drains extra energy - as if needed. If you're riding there in July, you ought to start early in the morning. 6 o'clock or something.

When I visited Norway for the first time, 47 years ago, I said to my parents that was the country where I wanted to live (I was 11 years old at that time :-) . Living there hasn't happened but looking at your videos makes me understand immediately why I said that a long time ago... Thanks for sharing !

I discovered your channel over the Christmas holidays and was totally bowled over by the stunning landscapes, beautiful and challenging roads and also, the superb editing quality and narration of your videos. I've toyed with the idea of cycling in Scandinavia - having cycled in Ireland, France, Belgium, Switzerland - and of course the UK where I'm based - but it has always seemed to far, too remote and (I thought) too cold for cycling. Your videos showcase a country that seems perfect for cycling and has (sometimes) pretty good cycling infrastructure along main roads, with penty of quieter roads where you can get lost in a dreamscape of rocks, fields, fjords and waterfalls. I'm seriously thinking of giving Norway a go, but there is one thing I wonder about more than anything else - what's it like for midge?
Bob, everything you write is so true about Norway! The infrastructure outside of the cities could be better at times but the government is spending money adding more cycle paths each year. I'm glad my videos have given you a good impression. Norway is the most underrated country to cycle. This is why I spend days/weeks editing these videos. It's always great to hear someone thinking of cycling in Norway. It means I'm doing the job I set out to do. Safe travels, thanks for your insights.
There are midge's in certain areas but in general it's not a problem. The coastal route is mainly midge free. Some inland forest areas with lakes can be a problem in July and August. But it shouldn't put you off cycling Norway.

I’m doing this route for my holidays, and i’ve enjoyed enjoyed enjoyed it so much so far!!!!!! Norway is BEAUTIFUL (I’m from the Netherlands and well….). I experienced today just as you described so yeah definitely very good videos 👍👍 I felt bad for the cyclists i passed that cycled trollstigen the other way around… Much thanks for work!!!
I know, them days in the Norwegian mountains with no clouds in the sky = paradise! 🚴🏻♂️☀️🏔. But when the rain comes just remember the blue sky days will return and you'll appreciate them even more :).

I absolutely adore your videos! You've convinced me to come to Norway on my next cycling trip. Do you have any advice on a good 1500kmish route? I'm tempted to do the far north from the Lofoten to Kirkenes, but this Fjord route looks incredible too!
Lofoten and the north are pretty flat. It gets very remote and barren after Alta. Fjord Norway is extremely hilly with numerous climbs. It all depends on what you want. They are both incredibly beautiful in different ways.

Note, 2021 was a very good summer in the fjords. It won’t be all blue sky days. Expect wet days but still beautiful!
