    This comment comes from somebody who had flooding due to an incorrectly done downspout. PS, your videos are great and the shed looks awesome. I suggest you rethink that downspout so that it drains away from the foundation. Here in Utah I think the building code around drainage says it has to be 6 feet away from the foundation wall. There are a lot of ways to do that, most of which would make a super useful (and probably short) video for your viewers. Don't let this simple fix turn into something you wish you'd done. Just a friendly suggestion :) :) :)

      @@EvanAndKatelyn For sure. I ended up trenching away from the house so I could bury mine. I also dug a drain at the end of that run and put a bunch of pea stone in it. Sounds like a lot, but a week prior I had a window well that was 1/2 full of water because of the way the downspout was. That window goes to my shop, so I fixed the crap out of the drain situation.

    • @colinhawkins8265

      @@EvanAndKatelyn For what it's worth, there are a lot of homes in my area that don't obey the 6 foot rule either. Since building codes change, it's possible the homes you saw in your area might have been obeying a different old code or none at all when they were built.

    • @Snakeplisskin440
      @Snakeplisskin440 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, I think the general rule is 6 feet from your foundation? We had an issue with our house where a previous owner pretty much buried the drains for the gutters in the flower bed next to our house. So we put in a drain along the side of the house that ran to the back and into the drain pipes back there. The sump also runs into that now so everything drains away from the house, yards away.
