@@RunawayMattCass just FYI Cracked corn and calcium is all they need... they will get every insect on the property for you. Try NOT To feed "LAYER PELLETS" Gov Conspiracy and Tractor Supply ... layer pellets caused the hens to STOP LAYING. AND "CRACKED CORN" Will give you the best and tastiest eggs
Just keep an eye out for hawks and owls or you'll be getting more hens sooner than you anticipated. The electric fence is great to keep raccoons, opossum out
Stop eating thier children 😂😂😂😂 nothing BEATS fresh eggs. it was fun watching you SCRAMBLE to put the door on. ( see what i did there?) Lol Puppies seem to be good around them.✌️❤️
I'm glad it's all coming together for you'll I really like ur chicks eggs at home no better than that biscuits gravy a great breakfast I like Tenn beautiful state
Now your homestead feels and sounds alive. Love the colors on your roosters and hens. They are gorgeous ..beautiful babies to come. Thank you for showing how to installl the chicken door. I am about to install mine. The coyotes on my farm know and watch for when I am gone and came right into the house yard and took 5 chickens. I now lock them in a big yard covered in so they have a safe place while I am gone. How about Nigerian dwarf goats next. Lol I have seven and they are just like puppies. Did you know the NG milk is so rich you can make butter as well as cheese. And they add a whole new level of fun, color and noise to the homestead. Cow panels work great to keep them contained when they need to be. Love your channel ..blessings to you and your new flock.
OMG that was such a heart warming relaxing video to watch. Maybe because I’m older but the hawk joke reminded me of Foghorn Leghorn. Good job Matt. Love you guys and stay safe.
I want to have chickens again but I want them to free range because we have so many ticks. Issue is, the one adjacent neighbor that I have would probably have an issue with them visiting their yard. Also, I'm almost convinced they are smart enough to avoid going into the road that's 75' from the house to the road. You have me thinking again 🤣 Enjoy them! They are so fun to have around. I had mine "cooped up" and in a small run and it was just not fun.
really like your videos and what you all do. i hope to live off grid soon, Im 63 years old and live in arizona, any advice would be helpful. i too want chickens and a big garden. you all are great, god bless.
Hey you 2 .... here in Northern Europe we use woos chips in the chicken coops .... when puttinf down a big pile, it's good for all winter, the menour mixed with the feasies will also help keeping warmth in the coop during winter .... we clean them out every spring and autumn/winter .... and it's already to kickstart the 'hot' composting
We tried the door that y’all got and we weren’t very happy with the results. It wouldn’t open in the morning and wouldn’t close at night. I finally spent the extra dough for an Omlet door (after trying 2 other doors). It has been on the coop for 2 years now and has always worked perfectly. I put 4 AA batteries in it when I installed it and 2 years later the batteries are still at 70%. Might want to take a look if you have any issues with the one you have.
happy mothers day chicken mom.can't believe how unafraid they are to jump up on your lap already. really had me laughing - unexpected. As Matt said good content..
Oh my gosh! Sorry but that was funny! Your hens will eat anything, so garden scraps you can feed them to your chickens. Your coop turned out well. Love your new deck...
Regarding the Bantam tandem. With chickens, only having one hen for one rooster can lead to aggressive and abusive mating techniques from the rooster. They express their desire to mate by pecking the hens around their head. If there is only one target for his affection, that can lead to injures for the hen. Just something to think about and watch for.
glad your back, didn't know you took two weeks off, check twice last week! ? so are you going to build a cabin this year just asking love your content!
First Rule of Everything... you always feed and care for your animals First, then yourself. LOL. Also, a little worried about future predators on your homestead. Hawks, bears, coyotes, raccoons, foxes etc.
Yes nice chickens and roosters but don't turn your back on rooster cause I have one and he's nasty It gets me all the time And the Automatic door Opener They're good But if half of them stay out and half of them We'll stay In And you don't know that they're out The animal is going to get him That's why I let mine out and let him in I'm right there all the time 3 beautiful people stay safe stay healthy and stay happy And we'll catch you on another one my friends
That was hilarious why would you let them out while you are eating. Just keep moving the fence around. We never just let them have free range of our whole property. We just moved the fence.
Your dog is pretty well harmless to your chickens it's your cat you have to watch out for if your hens become laying hens and hatch out diddles cats just love to go after diddles and kill them.
You don't let them out til the food is gone... or throw some cracked corn B4 you let them out
That was our first time eating outside with them around haha. We will definitely take that advice!

They don't like you eating their future babies before they are born.
You two are handling it well and have some really good ideas I'm proud of yous
Love the chickens 😂 have a good day Mike
Great footage of "Farm-to-table!"
It feels like home
look nice and green spring is in the air
Love the automatic door I’ve had 1 for 2 years now no more going out in the rain

17:15 Fresh, but washed🐣
Looks like they all passed the float test. For hard boiled I've found fresh farm eggs have a different peel.
eggs are good!
Lay a piece of linoleum inside coup to make it easier to keep clean, the auto door is a great idea......

Looks like you need a dog pen to sit in to avoid chicken pecks!
That was so fun! 😂 🐓
Chickens are so funny!
😂🤣😂 Matt the chickens just love you
OMG that was such a heart warming relaxing video to watch. Maybe because I’m older but the hawk joke reminded me of Foghorn Leghorn. Good job Matt. Love you guys and stay safe.
Some good looking gals ( hens ) lol
Do you have to worry about the rain? Maybe you could put a little canopy over the top of it just a thought.

Enjoyed the show! Thanks for providing chicken.
Awesome video God Bless you and your family Amen
Ain't nothing like fresh yard eggs!!
I think the chicken just wanted to sit in your lap and say hello. When you shooed her away, that's when she pecked the plate.
How is the automatic door powered?

Now you know what the old folks did for intertainment Chickens
👋👋👋 Mornin Neighbors
MORNING :)
Hey guys don’t know if you know, but Banty chickens are wonderful “watch chickens”. They scream cackling when predators are around.
Are the screws protruding on the back side? I think Stetson is happy to have a job.
Congratulations for all you have accomplished in under a year! :)
I squirt mine with water to keep them away. Now all I need to do is pick up the hose and they go running
Could have chicken an dumplings for dinner he keeps jumpin on you 😂😂😂
What about overhead predators?
😂😂😂
The chickens might need some protection from birds of prey

Chicken, learning curve. Don't eat with the chickens... lol
Nice I’m living in a camper it’s 2016 so I’m comfortable I’m 61 single but going put deck on too yours look good 👍
Everything is so Spring green! Atali is much better behaved than your chickens. Now you need an automatic doggie door.
First Rule of Everything... you always feed and care for your animals First, then yourself. LOL. Also, a little worried about future predators on your homestead. Hawks, bears, coyotes, raccoons, foxes etc.
She wanted her baby back... So, do you plan to produce more chickens and eat a lot of chicken, or just eat a lot of eggs for your protein?
Yes nice chickens and roosters but don't turn your back on rooster cause I have one and he's nasty It gets me all the time And the Automatic door Opener They're good But if half of them stay out and half of them We'll stay In And you don't know that they're out The animal is going to get him That's why I let mine out and let him in I'm right there all the time 3 beautiful people stay safe stay healthy and stay happy And we'll catch you on another one my friends
Hint feed them first...lol
That was hilarious why would you let them out while you are eating. Just keep moving the fence around. We never just let them have free range of our whole property. We just moved the fence.
Nothing like poop in your breakfast !!!
Your dog is pretty well harmless to your chickens it's your cat you have to watch out for if your hens become laying hens and hatch out diddles cats just love to go after diddles and kill them.
