Hi! We're Nick and Jen, a retired military veteran of 14 years and professional dancer/entertainer at Coyote Ugly Bar. Together, we decided to sell everything and break free of the glitz, glam and chaos of city life to move off gird. We live on our 20 acres of remote land in the mountains of Southern Utah.
We’re trying to be as self sufficient as possible by installing all our own utilities and doing everything DIY with as much modern technology as can make happen. Living off grid is about the freedom to build our own path one plank at a time. Life, indeed, is Elevated Off Grid. Come along and see what life is like as we continue to build our property and adventure around Southern Utah's mountains.

Usually a layer of crushed rock goes in the garage and compacted. Then plastic moisture barrier to keep water from weeping out of the concrete, then rebar. 5” thick with the rebar will handle everything. 😊
What happened to vapor barrier? Seems like extra work to layout rebar only to take it back out to install VB.
@ victoryoutdoorservices. Check out there videos to see correct way to do concrete.
You may want to consider putting some gravel down and a vapor barrier before the concrete. Also, because you get snow and stuff you should put a drainage into the concrete.
Thanks for your service to Our Country my fellow comrade. Thanks for service another video y'all.
What a cute little excavator! That a good project. One that I plan on doing some day! Cool video. 👍❤️ You guys have a good trip!
Tonka toy haha. Looks liked you were having a blast😅
Wado/Thank you for your service Brother. Semper Paratus
Hi when are you going to finish the outside of the house😮😮
Charlie is such a cool dog! He is a hoot to watch as he runs around with so much energy having fun. I love using small excatators too, but never used on that small. Too bad buba was't around as he would have loved it. You made good progress and I look forward to seeing you on the next vid. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

In regards to a host challenger has been selling alot to youtubers they have a drive on one with wheels if you want to move around matts off road fabrats has the regular style sleeperdude has the roll around style good luck enjoy the videos dave from brantford ontario canada
Soo funny seeing you on that Mini excavator, they do the job!!. Youre on You tube so why not go on search and put in How to lay concrete, you will find you need a Big plastic sheet to cover floor Before laying Rebar, and a box around the holes you dug,!!! Love the support you give Jen, and Charlie with his massive Energy!!.😬🙄 Thanks for the video. x x
Mark somewhere or write down the measurements exactly where the footings are. Or you could make sure you put your studs in the new concrete for the car lift before it cures.
Don't forget your moisture barrier! And gravel Or take a picture of your footings location!
The mini mini is pretty handy! When I did my garage floor I didn't tie it in to the stem wall, it's just a floating floor. Maybe I did it wrong but I am not sure what advantage there is to connecting the floor to the stem wall with rebar?
My lift is in fiber infused concrete 4" thick, No issues, also, when you drill the holes for the bolts to hold the lift, make sure the rebar isn't in the way. I prefer concrete wire, yo can drill through that, rebar, won't happen through rebar! Also, lif is too close to the doorway, needs to be like 12' away. Also, should have plastic down as a vapor barrier, and have some gravel on top of the dirt
Let me guess T&A lol, they are good people.Have a blessed trip.
For the WH, you could just run a couple of 45° boards from the platform back up to the wall framing while doing the floor.
Love it guys and Nick and Jen cant wait for the next step❤️🇨🇦
Gotta love those excavators there just so much fun to operate. Great job great video
GREAT job guys
OSiyo yawl, That looks like a hoot. I want to drive that thang. The music is awesome. I wish I had a third of yawls energy.
Nick, save the bark from the oak, soak some in water a couple of days before you bbq and add the wet bark to give a nice Smokey flavor to what ever meat you are cooking on the grill, I know it works great with my Weber, sorry don’t know how it would be with a gas or pellet grill.
build a shelf for the water heater higher up call it good..
Thank you for your SERVICE ! Ret. USN now live in Paradise-LV
Good Morning. How are you guys doing today? Hey, looks like you're guys are doing a good job. Keep up the good work. You guys should have one big huge water tank instead of all those 4 water tanks. That way, you make big wanna be so much better. And we're going to have to waste all that extra water. But here's have a great day. And you're blessed both of you.❤❤❤❤
built in China stove with problems. Hope you get it sorted out before the holidays. Great job on the wood shed.
that looks like so much fun! projects.... I love em. Stay safe.
Well it was tiny but mighty! LOL Easier than hand digging!!!
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing
Check out challenger lifts
For me that's a weird place for the HW heater. Unless you build a cabinet around the unit it is exposed to the elements from the doorways. If it's staying there, build your concrete platform now to whatever level your floor is to be with a slight angle to allow for drainage, then drill a drainage hole to the outside with a piece of tubing that leads the water spillage away from the foundation for at least 4-6 inches. Use a tin pan under it, seal around the drainage area to ensure leakage doesn't go under or behind the pan. Again, I'd enclose it for insulation purposes so that it doesn't have to work so hard to produce the hot water. Hard to write it here and explain it in a short post.
ok a cord of wood is 4x4x8 so that 4 feet tall 4 feet wide and 8 feet long and that is cord of wood and Nick thanks you for your service and want you are a hero you might now think that but you are
I love that mini excavator!!
When are going to put the siding on your house?
Years ago when I was working construction. They were making a park up at big Bear Lake. Besides running a water pool, which is like a scraper except smaller. They had me running a roller because you had to go to these walkways between the trees. That was a smallest narrow roller. I have ever ever seen that long run myself. I was a young younger woman back then working construction. But it was like playing on a Tonka toy. It was so cool. And also pulling water out of the lake into the water was a 5000 gallon smaller water. All things were off-road. Watching the fish jump out of the lake as you’re pulling water into the water pool. But running that roller, so narrow so it was like 1 mile or less it was such a crazy feeling. So I can understand how he feels on that because it’s not just like the one that I was on. Yes I had to run a larger roller in the old days, but this was so small and narrow, and it was like a Tonka toy so enjoy.
I wonder if it would buck as much if the plow blade was facing the other way?
Bucking because the hydraulics on those Chinese excavators are not smooth at all. Can guarantee that if he had a Cat, Kubota, Bobcat, he could operate it much smoother even being his first time.
Remove the tank. Install tankless on the wall right there. Put the tank back later.
Hey yall, that tiny machine looks fun but, I would rather hand dig it because I don't operate machines often and wouldn't want to dig it too deep and expose unpacked earth.
FYI to anyone; Rebar lap is to be a minimum of 25 times the diameter of the bar. Example; 1/2" bar = 12 1/2" of lap. Two double wire ties per lap joint. Depth of holes to drill for rebar is 5 times the diameter of the bar. It is best to add compacted gravel before you install rebar, a vapor barrier is also recommended.
I would have put a on-demand water heater on the wall
👍👍
I heard Good Morning VietNam during 13 months in the morning in nam
👍👍✌️
Elevation has a lot to do with a gas stove, you're better off with a electric stove.
