The 1400 and 1500 series Wurlitzer jukes coupld play both 45s and 78s. They had a small hub for a turn table amd they could play both sides of the record. I worked on one for a client many years ago. Gary
HD7100 Thanks for the comments Gary. I’ve never seen a Wurlitzer 1500 working. I did see a few in need of full restoration a few years ago. I bet the 2 speed really complicated things! :)
I was called in to fix it in around 1980. I normally do not work on jukeboxes but they could not find anyone else so they asked me. The speed change is not an issue. The 45s fit in a plastic ring. When a 78 is lifted up the spindle only goes up so far when the record reaches the top. When a 45 is raised up the spindle goes up farther and engages a different speed for 45. The big problem with these machines is the selector mechanism which is very complicated.
Very sweet Jukebox Jim! My Dad bought a used Wurlitzer 1015 from a closing restaurant in the early 1960s. We kept it in our basement and played with it a lot as I grew up. Dad bought it for $25, and when we moved to Florida in 1968, he sold it for $25. Sure would like to have it now! I've got a 1961 Seeburg in my game room. I also have about 10 or so of various small Jukeboxes as models, mostly running CDs. See ya -- Atco
$25! Wow! I wish I had a time machine and could go back to the 70's when tons of this vintage stuff was being tossed out. 61 Seeburg...Is that the model with the inward curve? Very cool!
Just beautiful.. and so great to see your enthusiasm. It has always been a dream of mine to own a jukebox, but probably a 60s or early 70s Seaberg (spelling?) that plays 45's. But it's just not realistic for me, as I don't have the space. In the next life I shall do things differently. :)
So Jim, as there is a pre-amp, does that obviously mean the cartridge is magnetic? Is that common for a Jukebox of that era? Also, is the tone arm original? Looks like a 'Cobra' from a Zenith... Absolutely beautiful piece BTW!
tubeie07 The tone arm is original. Wurlitzer model 1100 was first to use the cobra tone arm and cartridge. Not quite a magnetic cart though but a moving vain cartridge. Thanks for watching!
classicradios Thanks for the reply! I have not heard of a moving vain cartridge, could you explain for me please? I presume it needs amplification, hence the pre amp...
The original Cobra cartridge used a moving vane technique to generate the audio signal. It was more of a variable capacitance cartridge that varied a radio frequency oscillator. The oscillator signal was detected much like a AM radio signal and converted to audio." The pre-amp uses 1 tube.
Someone has one of these in their garage and wanted to sell it. I was wondering how much this is worth in working condition. I also have jukeboxes on my channel as well.
bumblethebee20 I haven’t followed Juke Box pricing recently so can’t speak to current value. I paid around 3k for mine 15 years ago in semi working condition. Thanks for stopping by the channel!
Wonderful! I wish I had the money and the space for a jukebox. Gary
I was only 3 years old when that Jukebox came out! Amazing!
Beautiful Juke
I'd been trying to remember the original name of your channel from years back. Now I remember - Wurly1100!!
Absolutely beautiful.. The 1015 had that bog round tone head. This one has - I believe it's called a "cobra-head" arm. Gorgeous.
Very beautiful piece

No, not as cool as that unfortunately. it's a AY100. Still can watch the records playing. That's what I wanted. It's a 45 rpm record jukebox.

All Juke boxes are cool! I'm slowly looking back thru your vid's and many others, I'll look for your AY100. ✌🏻
beautiful machine Jim , I like that you put it back to 78 IMO it’s a nicer box than the Bubblers probably because those are more often seen

Seeburg Jukes are great too! I like the horizontal moving record selector on those.
You can find a way to hook a MP3 player to it. It would be great.

@@wurly1100 I thought some of the later 1015's came with Cobra cartridges too.
