Hey, thanks for sharing : problem is Thermoformed plastic manufacturing process (why ? because low manufacturing cost for the film, the comfort of wearing it is after...poor extras actors inside during movie they suffered !), the pieces are very thin and cause pain with pinching of the skin at the joints, the solution ? no more thermoformed manufacturing ! but in injected ABS, or you can leave thicknesses of material near each joint (arms and legs) and also be able to shorten (while keeping the internal bead) and adapt the ends of each piece to each bodies, thanks to this surplus of material (which is not heavier than a thermo armor) here is the solution friends, this ABS version seems not to exist yet today...I'm coming....
Thanks for your tutorial, I'm now going to look at my suit from a different perspective. I am 6ft 2 inch and 18.6 stone of bodybuilding frame. I thought I'd never get my suit to fit properly. I purchased the xl stormtrooper kit from the stormtrooper shop in North London and they are extremely helpful and sent me the extra armour to make the various bits go around my thighs, biceps , forearms and calf's .A total nightmare.I should have chosen a Wookiee. I don't think it's ever going to be a tight fitting suit, but I'll be near enough now that you have said not to follow other builders . Thanks Richie
Thank you for this! Like Adrian I had my eyes on a TM kit and it should be coming in any day now! This'll be my first build so I'm anxious to get going. This is a real informative video, much appreciated!
Would you say your methods here could be approved by the 501st in the Garrison Level? I normally see Troopers use suspenders to hold the torso armor but your method looks amazing. No overlapping and looks just like ANHTK and how they wore their outfit.
The 501st won't be interested in what's going on inside your armour, just how it looks and fits on the outside. I am a member but here I'm going above and beyond basic entry level requirements in the pursuit of a screen accurate replica.
I personally use poppers/snaps to connect all my armor together, so could I use a combination of suspenders AND snaps? It seems Like it'll be much easier to put on by urself without needing help. Cheers!
Hello and good morning richie stormtrooper, I would love to meet you in person, are you in the UK, because I keel getting alot of references from other people like references.R.S prop masters, ace cisplay, ect could you give a guided tour of how would I make screen replica of a stormtrooper armour please and many thanks for your time.
Good choice! Love building those TMs. Let me know how you get along. And if you have any specific questions, ask away. I'm always looking for good topics for new videos and maybe there's stuff I can address directly.
That was good and your dedicated to authenticity. I think I shall purchase the original suit "authentic" from the cat who initially created them. Helmet will be from same source as well. Your tips and enthusiasm are well received. I may be super creative and talented in my art career yet, let's keep the troop Lookin Tight Right? Rock On H.L. 🎨
Avoid that guy like the plague. He’s a pathological liar who takes credit for other people’s work. All he did was operate a vac-form machine. Brian Muir and Liz Moore were the true creators. AA doesn’t even use the original molds, as he claims to do.
Just so you know, or in case anyone reads this. Andrew ainsworths ‘original trooper’ is super inaccurate, and he has a lot of false marketing . He only mass manufactured the vac for,ed suits and didn’t create the moulds or original clay sculpts. His armour doesn’t match the screen used suits and is assembled nowhere near how it was so it’s assumed he’s either completely fraudulent in his claims or has changed the vac form buccs over time to the point they are no longer accurate
