    Preferred it on mute because of the "music" and the difference in volume when you're talking. However, well done, young man.

    How did you go about food and water any times you ran out planning on doing this for charity after lockdown

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures
      @KeepSmilingAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just bought it along the way. There wasn't really anytime that I ran out. Just keep an eye on what you've got. Even in some of the remote places you will still find a village shop. Just carry a bit of cash just in case though. Good luck on your trip and enjoy.

    Im planning this adventure now. Not sure whether to do it now (winter coming up) or wait til spring.

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures
      @KeepSmilingAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im going to say wait. How long do you plan to take ? I set of at the beginning of June. Plenty of daylight, mostly dry the whole way round and can pack a lot lighter making the riding much nicer.

      @@KeepSmilingAdventures Yeah just speaking to someone on IG whos done it as well and he said the same, wait til April onwards. More cycle time and better weather. I dont plan of breaking any records, just want to take it all in. Ive traveled the UK in a van but on a cycle is special i think .

    Hi! Sorry for this stupid question mate, but have you got any problems with animals while u were wild-camping? And did you choose spots that are like far from villages and other people? Cheers! (I'm sorry if my English is bad though, I'm not from the UK but I was thinking to take this route seriously since I really like English weather, cycle routes etc.)

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures
      @KeepSmilingAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats alright your english is great 👍 and thats a good question, i tend to find somewhere remote but maybe a 30-60 min ride to somewhere where i can stock up on food etc in the morning to set myself up for the day. With regards to animals not really you might here the odd fox, but we don't really have any dangerous animals here. Obviously don't camp in a field with livestock in though.

    You are such an inspiration! I have a ton of questions like where you stayed, did you book accommodation well in advance? How did you manage navigation? And the stuff you carried with you on the bike?

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures
      @KeepSmilingAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Aj thanks for the comment. so i actually wild camped pretty much every day over the 42 days it took me. i think i stayed maybe 4 nights in actual accommodation, a couple days were just awful weather and one of them nights was just because i had family along the east coast. navigation was actually not as complicated as you may think, just keep the sea on your left and your golden ;) (and a little bit of google maps)
      What i carried was as minimal as i could go.
      sleeping bag
      aqua quest hooped bivy
      a couple riding outfits (i smelt)
      then just the basic tools
      Multi tool
      couple inner tubes
      a patch kit
      tyre boot
      i think that is pretty much it,if you want to know anything else feel free to ask

      @@KeepSmilingAdventures I'm hoping to do it next year, I'm 64, but have done a few long trips before LEJOG twice, once on a tandem.
      I need to get cycling fit again though beforehand .
      That's incredible time, I thought I might do it leisurely and do it in 3 months.
      I read a book about someone taking 5 months to do it, mind you he did stop off and visit most of the islands on the way, Skye etc.

      @KeepSmilingAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely one of my favourite trips i have done. Would highly recommend doing it however long you want to take. It was about 5000 miles in total. I actually just planned it day by day just trying to stick as close to the coast as possible. And wild camped every night apart from like 3 nights.

      @@KeepSmilingAdventures Brilliant, apparently you can wild camp in Scotland?

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures
      @KeepSmilingAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rocky Stone yeah in scotland you have the right to roam so its not illegal to wild camp most places. Although in england and wales its not technically legal you can still do it if you pick your spots away from anyone and set up late and leave early and leave no trace.

  • @lemonchicken507

    Mad respect mate. Really want to do something similar. You got any wild camping tips, as I know it's technically illegal in the UK

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures
      @KeepSmilingAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While it is technically illegal, it is a civil matter so you would have to pretty much damage something or cause financial loss to the owner. And they would need to prove it. So my rules are no fires ( they give you away anyway) setup camp as the sun is setting. Try and be as far away from any city, town or village. Use quite a small or stealthy shelter that you can assemble/dissemble quickly. Don't leave any rubbish.(leave no trace). And be gone before it gets light. And if somehow you do get caught be nice, respectful and they might let you spend the night anyway if not move on.

    • @MrSte2phen
