    What a wonderful way to explain what appeared to be complex, but what is fairly easy to understand when explain correctly and clearly. Thanks so much Alan for sharing your approach to using Power Query to compare lists.

    Hi Alan.. great video. Thanks for the quick lesson on Inner, Left Anti and Right Anti Merge Queries. Makes quick work of comparing lists in this way and easily updatable with CTRL+ALT+F5 when new data arrives. Always something new, interesting and entertaining from your channel. Thumbs up!

    I must say I really enjoy when you come out with these. I almost stopped when I’m doing and go take the time to watch. Thank you very much and keep them coming. Do you have a site where I am I go when I have things I want to do and search particular functions that will help me on a project that I mind?

    Thanks Alan, I find the commentary in your videos very clear and informative. Could I ask, apart from running two separate queries, is there a method for identifying the names that are not on both tables, i.e. Names from table 1, not on table 2, and in the same query, names on table 2 not in query 1. thanks Alan.

      Thank you, Brendan. I would probably solve this using lookup formulas in a column to identify the answers to your two questions.

    • @Computergaga
      @Computergaga  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the examples shown here, it checks all rows of the table/query.

    Hi Alan, i'm new here in your channel and really really amazing work, you impressed me with your skills i don't use all of that on excel but it is always nice to learn something new so i was just looking around in your channel and i clicked on this video and just like anybody was trying to apply what you've done in that video but when i press on data on the ribbon i don't see "from table to range" i don't know if you have some extras there also fun fact the left side of the data is grey and un-clickable i have no clue if you got me or nah but hopefully to get a response from your side soon

      Hi Omar, thank you for your comments.
      If you don't see From Table/Range then you probably have an older version of Excel. You may have a button saying 'Other Sources' or 'New Query'.
      If it is unclickable, you may have your cursor inside a cell.

      That option is not available on Excel for Mac so that might be the problem as well.

    Hi sir. I have number 10 in an excel cell and I want to make it as number 15 in the same cell. Is there any shortcut?

    Hello does it check both name and surname? What if the name - surname is on both columns but in the first it is name surname and on the second it is surname - name? How can you compare safely?

    • @Computergaga
      @Computergaga  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is checking both first and surname. In the merge window you have the chance to specify which columns to use to match the lists. you can choose whatever and as many columns as you want. Hold Ctrl as you click them. And do it in the order.

      @@Computergaga Do you know if the matching process is looking for exact/distinct matches of the value in the row?
      I have 2 data sets with reservations on them. I know there are 50 reservations missing when comparing my totals, but I need to find which ones are missing.
      I specified columns reservation ID#, Date, time, room, & contact, and used the Left Anti. The results showed 76 distinct reservation numbers. Does this mean those 76 reservations didn't match each value within the row of the column?
