@@manvfilm I guess Sal Bass did a lot of opening credit scenes in movies. I think he did the opening to invasions of the body snatchers 1978 version.

Phase lV is an excellent film. Pre CGI goodness. Uncluttered to the point of being almost minimalistic. Great color and presentation from Saul Bass. I have the previous versions and I'v been holding off to watch my bew 4K disc of this for the first time. Soon, very soon.

Saw this for the 1st time many years ago, then when I picked up the UK blu ray a couple of years back, I got to see the original ending. I had been hoping that this UHD was going to be of the full version, but apparently not, which is a real shame, as it's really where you can see Saul Bass's imagination in full flight. Hard to believe that the studio had it cut out to begin with.
The UHD doesn't have the original ending? What a missed opportunity if true - the original ending is a real mind bender.
That ending is truly phenomenal. The extended edition is only on Blu-ray
I believe I first watched this on laser disc and was intrigued after.
It seems like this fantastic wee film is getting the same mixed reception that it received back when it was released. Too cerebral and artsy for the horror/Sci-fi fans and too obscure and niche for the mainstream & critics. I always found it fascinating and unsettling.
Great extras from VS. Loved the ‘making of’ doc & the feature with the two older guys who helped compose and create the electronic music and sound design was fun.
I wish the studio had the balls to go with the original ending.
One of my favourite films, have it in DVD as well as blu-ray. Loved the extras on the Blu-ray as well. I am looking forward to buying the 4K at some point, though noticed there are not that many copies here yet. I saw the alternate ending which is totally weird, one of the weirdest ever but I can see why they didn't use that as the main film
Only issue being for me is the release is region A for the Blu-ray disks ... which means that I can't play it on my non-multi-region 4K player. The 4K yes, the extras I assume not ??? I hope perhaps that Indicator or someone else will produce a 4K over in the UK that is region free throughout the entire package
Yeah the majority of the time extras are on the Blu-ray which is region locked
@@manvfilm thanks for clearing that up for me, so probably not a disk to go for as yet. Perhaps one of the UK Region B companies will release a Phase 4, as I would be up for getting that on 4K
I love this movie and the 4K is excellent.

I suppose you could add this to the tiny list of great films made by one-time directors although Saul Bass' pedigree would suggest otherwise. Fantastic film from the visual side although I wish the writing and pacing was a bit better. The second act really drags at times.
The flesh and blood show cancel again boo 😢😢😢. Great movie 🎬 phase 1v got the 101 films special edition collector's set with book about 3 yrs ago
