My Dad was a big fan of covered bridges. We'd take wide detours just to cross one. It was going through his shop after he passed in 2019 that got me into woodworking again. Definitely going to have to build one of these in his memory.
This is a wonderful project!!! I learn something new with every one of your videos. Thank you! I will be making one or two for the birds, and I may make a larger version for our indoor cats! The cats love hanging out in strange places, and who am I to deny them that pleasure.
Matthew, I have to give you kudos .... These were the most detailed plans I think I've ever purchased. Will be purchasing more now that I've seen the finish plan product. Greatly appreciated Nat
This is a great looking project. I loved the step by step and really like the results. I guess I am showing my age but I would have painted the shingles green to remind me of my Lincoln logs as a kid. 😁 not having to cut a million shingles and individual siding boards was inspiring. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
WHAT MANUAL? Oh my gosh! I absolutely love covered bridges, this is beautiful! Thank you for sharing this build with us, I will definitely be making this bird feeder! Have a great week!
You really did an outstanding job on the design of this covered bridge. I love seeing old covered bridges. They have such a great history to them. Thanks for sharing
I'm building one of these now and having so much fun! I might even make a few more for friends and family. Thanks so much for sharing all these great ideas. Time in my shop beats time on the couch any day!
WHAT MANUAL?! My friend has been trying to get me to make a bird feeder for a year now and I wasn’t excited to do it until seeing this build. Grew up in Georgia and the covered bridge at Stone Mountain was one of my favorites 🤩 And I had NO IDEA about the stop on the mitre saw- I’ve got the Harbor Freight Hercules compound sliding miter and I wondered what that lever was for! Thank you so much for sharing your talent and creativity to inspire us ✌️💗🙏
What manual? I had no idea of a depth stop- I had to run and see if my miter saw had it! Magnificent build! You taking us step by step, calmly and calmingly, with subtle humor (“If you don’t have any scrap 2x2- which you should”) And you’re absolutely right- this is a project for everyone! I’m going to make this with my granddaughter when she visits next month! Thank you for everything you share with us! You’re absolutely awesome! 👏👍🤘🌟
What Manual? Hey Matthew, hoping you and yours are okay in KY. It's pretty bad here in NE TN and WNC. This video really pick up my spirits. Blessed beyond measure. Quick story about covered bridges! Not really sure how many bridges have been washed away. But in Elizabethton, TN, the covered bridge was built in 1882 and withstood the raging floods. Amazing how the old stuff survived. An acquaintance in Erwin, TN watched the house, cars, trucks wash away. The 100+ year old barn is still standing. Anyway, thank you for all you do for the woodworking community. Looking forward to the classes coming soon! #appalachiastrong
All of the flooding has been horrible in your area. So sad. But yes, I love old structures... We had a barn on our property from the 1820s that made it through several tornados. Was actually our "storm shelter" back in the day. Thank you for your comment and supporting the channel!
What manual - I like manuals for installing something or putting something together; otherwise, I don't use them. Ha ha ha love this little covered bridge. I love close to.dome covered bridges. I just might make this!
I've got a HS classmate that recently moved back to Kentucky. He is making a book of the covered bridges that he's photographed over the years! Used to ba a lot in Ky when I was a kid. Oh and after 46 years, I no.longer get sent to the dog house...she just gave up, I think
Nice! Wanted give you a big thank you for your Hidden door videos. I constructed a 10×20 enclosed deck. One entrance is a sliding glass door to the kitchen. A 2nd standard door and storm door goes to the laundry room from outside also. Instead covering the ugly doors, I removed the storm and built a door. The interior wall is dry stack stone siding. The laundry entrance is now a stone hidden door . Thank you
I can’t wait to build this one. Awesome ! Thank you Peech for all the builds that Ive learned and have built with you. I come along way with you. Again Thank you and God bless.
What Manual? Just wanted to add this bit of advice and a big thanks to Matt. I was building this project when I noticed the roof was not quite 45 degrees. Thinking quickly back to one of your earlier videos saved me. I used a corner frame clamping jig with a "C" Clamp to secure the ends of my covered bridge feeder, voila! Ends are tight to the roof line. Also, I added cut grooves on the end pieces to look just like the side walls. Thanks a bunch Matt!
Yes Sir, My manuals are kept with the historical documents which are also rarely if ever read,,,,,hehe.......... but in case of emergency's, its nice to have em,,, YUP!!! nice bird feeder by the way,,,,, thnx for sharing
What manual? I bought my miter saw second hand, it's not a compound sliding, so even though it was mounted to a base with handles, it didn't come with any extras. I have a compound sliding miter saw on my wish list, though. Lol And being a happily single woman, I don't need to worry about getting put in the doghouse, but I do love the covered bridge bird feeder.
What manual... I've just bought a new 12" sliding mitre saw and the depth stop was a feature I purposely looked for and I wouldn't want to be without it now. Great video, look forward to the next one.
What manual? lol I thought those were just back up when you can't figure something out on your own. Thank you for these great tips! I love this project. I photograph old historic or unique structures and objects as much as possible to a fault. Covered bridges are at the top of my list. My photos provide inspiration for paintings.
I guess you need a funnel to pour in the bird seed. Also need to figure out a way to make it easily removable for cleaning occasionally. Definitely a build I’ll be doing. Thank you for the design!
For the gables you could leave them long with the corners cut and use a large hole saw for the circle and then cut the circle in half. Much easier than hand cutting. You do need a hole saw but that's something you should have for general purpose reasons anyway.
What Manual? Lol, you definitely showed me something! I truly enjoy your videos, as a super novice woodworker / welder I have made a couple of your projects and they turned out great. Thanks again and keep up the content.
What manual? I actually really don't have one. I bought my miter saw with a miter stand used on Craigslist over a decade ago, and I just recently found that little flip latch. Unfortunately my saw is about 30 years old, and the bolt is completely rusted in place, but the flip down piece still works. It works well if I want to barely just not cut through the material all the way. I love you work, and you've helped me do so many projects, because a lot of the time during your videos, you'll give tips and tricks for different operations, that carry over into any kind of woodworking project. Thank you for all you do, and keep up all the good work
What manual 😂 Thanks for explaining the depth stop on the miter saw, I knew mine had it but hate to read! Nice build, I think I'll make one and see how folks react.
Lol.. manuel. Never knew, they existed. I thought you just looked at the pictures. Also, some of the manuels are confusing, and looking at the picture is more understandable than reading. I've learned more things watching youtube because i really do not like to read. I appreciate your videos. Ty
What manual? My wife is going to love this bird feeder in her garden Matthew. Great design and shortcuts. I did actually know that my miter saw has a depth stop and I bought mine from a friend without a manual. My drill press has a depth stop too in case those with one might want to check theirs. I've got a bunch of your projects saved to do in my shop.
What manual? LOL That is such a great idea.. I love the covered bridge bird feeder.. Great job... I guess I just might have to dust off the manual.. LOL
What Manual? I had to stop the video and go check my Rigid 10” miter saw. No depth stop! But wait, I had purchased a Bosch 12” compound miter saw right before we moved a couple of months back, and haven’t had time to set it up yet. I immediately took everything off the top of the box and dug out the manual. Bam! Depth stop. Now I have to set it up to build this project. Love your videos.
What manual? My Great Grandfather was a woodworker and made bird houses along with instruments like Violins, Guitars back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I started watching to learn more and expand my own knowledge. Thank you!
What manual?! Lol in the process of locking down a shop since I can’t do a whole lot with all my tools out of my townhome! This will definitely be going into the roster of projects to make and test for my area! Love the content! Keep it up!
Manual? What manual? I honestly don't even have saw yet! I've been down for a couple weeks due to an injury and been watching youtube videos to pass the time. Woodworking seems like something I'd like to start doing. You done did it with this build sir, that's a hellofa bird feeder. I've gotten kinda hooked on watching all you guys make really nice things. I wanna make nice things too. Again, that's a really nice job, and you're a good teacher. Thank you for all you do. EDIT: So I searched for a covered bridge bird feeder and I came across one for $299.99 and it's nowhere even close to being as nice as the one you put together.

What Manual? These builds are what keeps me on the edge of my seat for what you’re going to do next. I have the shiplapped shed with a hay and straw bale for the goats 🐐 our chickens 🐓 use the chicnic table 2x a day. Transforming shelf in the garage. A few different planters on back porch. Now, I’ll be getting these plans too. Have just the person that’s been asking me for a bird feeder. 👍🏼 👍🏼
What Manual? I used the miter saw for years without knowing about that feature. It was another DIY video some years ago that turned me on to it. Now, I use it any chance I get. It's a cool feature. Now, I'm teaching a junior-high woodshop class, and it's one thing I make sure to show my students.
What Manual, Awesome job when l started watching this, being a retired rookie l said whoa this as above my pay grade, but that thought lasted 3 seconds, said hell couple of fence pickets into this for under 8 bucks. Strap my big boy pants on and lets go, :)
What manual? Neat project. I've discovered for marking arches to use a 6 inch hose clamp. You can tighten or loosen it to the arc you need and it works for a wide range of them
what manual? I literally didn't know about that depth stop until I saw my first video of yours about 2 years ago. I always enjoy the helpful hints and tips oh and the build plans.
What manual? Funny that you choose that. I was going ask, do tools come with manuals? Great build Matthew! May have to make yet another purchase of plans from you!
“What manual!” Who uses manuals?? Heck who uses plans? 😂😂. Awesome work Matthew! Definitely using this in the future! Been looking for something new and interesting. Great job bud!!
What manual?? Love this project. When I lived in upstate NY I got some great pictures of several covered bridges. I will do this build! My mind is thinking what pieces I can mill on my CNC… Thank you for all the great builds you share!
What manual? I knew it had a stop, but trying to figure out how to find it is how I found you. This build gave me an idea to make the bridge the sleepy hollow bridge to make as a gift.
What Manual??? Great job on the birdhouse. 2 things. I loved the movie. Which is weird because "Chic Flicks" aren't normally my thing 🙂 But Clint Eastwood nailed the part along with Meryl Streep. 2nd, thanks for the stop lock tip. I have the same saw you have and had no clue it was there :-)
What Manual? Thanks for continuing to share these great builds with us. I'll be retired by next summer so I'll have a lot of time to try these ideas out. Also, I found the one you were talking about and it is actually $280 on sale for $250. 🙂
What manual? 🤔 😂 I love a great covered bridge too!!! Might have to make me one of those. Old wooden barns and corn cribs from 200 years ago are pretty awesome too!! The old corn crib design would make an awesome birdhouse. Because the one we had when I was just little had what resembled a bell tower on top. But that was for a Old style hoist used to pull something to the top. But the views from up there were amazing.

Great build, I’d only change one thing. Make the roof hinge to make it easier to fill if used as a feeder.
I just didn’t nail down the roof. Put two stop blocks inside each gable, and the roof just lifts off
This is a wonderful project!!! I learn something new with every one of your videos. Thank you! I will be making one or two for the birds, and I may make a larger version for our indoor cats! The cats love hanging out in strange places, and who am I to deny them that pleasure.

That birdhouse looks fantastic...definitely making this one. You're the best Mr Peech.
Thanks so much! Enjoy the build!
What Manuel? You have taught me more than anyone has ever before! Thank you for what you do!
What! Manual? I really dig your imagination and builds. Thank you for the inspiration. Kudos!

Just knocked out a few of them! Looks awesome. Thanks Matt! Built off vid. Going to build the cabin one and buy the plans to help you out . Thanks !
WHAT MANUAL? Lovely job buddy, very cool indeed.
Thanks 👍
What manual, I WISH my Dewalt had a depth stop.
Love that bridge! Can't wait to build this tomorrow.
I don't have a dog house, so I'm making a picket version of my basement couch. At least the dog sleeps with me, we have cable and a beer fridge.
A loyal dog, a comfortable couch and a fridge full of beer... so why do you need the woman?
Sounds like you are doing just fine!
@@prima164you know, I have been asking myself the same question for a few months now.
I'll let you know when I get it figured out.. 😂
What manual? I bought my miter saw second hand, it's not a compound sliding, so even though it was mounted to a base with handles, it didn't come with any extras. Manual? We don need no steekin Manual! This looks like a fun build, definitely going for the plans on this.
Thank you!
Just finished this build, I love it!!!
What manual... I've just bought a new 12" sliding mitre saw and the depth stop was a feature I purposely looked for and I wouldn't want to be without it now. Great video, look forward to the next one.
Good choice!

Cheers
Thanks!

Gotta love them!
Very nice. I think I might tackle that project for my yard.
Nice!
Love the design. If I could figure out how to keep the squirrels out, I would build it.
I guess you need a funnel to pour in the bird seed. Also need to figure out a way to make it easily removable for cleaning occasionally. Definitely a build I’ll be doing. Thank you for the design!
It can get in there without a funnel. Thanks for watching.
I thought a hinge on the roof line would work for adding seed and cleaning.
Awesome video. That will definitely be a great seller. Keep up the great work
Thanks 👍
For the gables you could leave them long with the corners cut and use a large hole saw for the circle and then cut the circle in half. Much easier than hand cutting. You do need a hole saw but that's something you should have for general purpose reasons anyway.

Great project I used cnc for sides and shingles

Pretty Cool Peech! 😎 Maybe we should make that a mailbox...you're welcome!
This is a very cool build. It would take me 15x longer to accomplish, but a great watch.

Very well done video. My wife will love it. I was looking for a good Fall project. I will buy te plans.
What manual 😂
Thanks for explaining the depth stop on the miter saw, I knew mine had it but hate to read!
Nice build, I think I'll make one and see how folks react.
Nice! Enjoy the build.
This is fantastic. Christmas gift for family.
What, Manual:? Wow Matthew! Really a nice build, and the way you did the shingles was very smooth, I really liked it Great job!David

Hell of a build Matt. Great job! ❤
Great build: Matthew ,other great project, lovely work ❤.
Squirrels are going to move in if you put bird seed in it. This is a cool lawn ornament.
I need a series of “Dog House “ projects. A covered bridge every month is going to get suspicious. Great video!!

Going to have to make some great Christmas presents
