I've enjoyed all your videos so far. I like that it's sometimes big topics, and also some small ones like this one! Keep it up! :D when I see a notification for a new video of urs I allways look forward to watching it in the evening after work
Re: stress eating. I was able to replace it with drinking hot tea. There's a plethora of flavors for any mood you're in, it's easy to make, and you can control how much or little sugar or milk is in it. Plus warm drinks are soothing. And yes, babies sooth by eating. My baby would nurse until she literally made herself throw up all over (not spit up, throw up). One of the first things I did was teach her how to use a pacifier and a lovey for self soothing. And my toddler has a "soothing toolbox" so to speak. A list of things that are special and she can pick which one she wants in the moment.
It's so surreal seeing the dad being like "Yeah, he'll die of obesity sooner than later, who tf cares" with an unfazed expression while sitting across from his 400-pound wife
I feel like he'd given up on his wife already and was projecting it onto the cat. Which is why at the end when he saw that the cat was helping his wife get healthier he all of a sudden wanted to keep it.
Yeah, my dad doesn’t like cats. He is most definitely a dog person. Even he says my cat is adorable and gives her pets when she asks for them. He also respects her intelligence, as she is one of *those* cats. She can open every door bar the front in our house, from the inside or outside (and unfortunately our real estate won’t let us switch out the handles for doorknobs, not even just while we’re still living here. It’s very annoying). So there’s no such thing as privacy in the bathroom, she just lets herself in and demands pats while you’re on the loo. Or she’s look at you strangely while you shower, like “why would you put yourself through that? Do you need help?” But she’s also very attuned to our emotions, and will offer us comfort if we’re feeling bad. She has this favourite stuffy (a little guide dog puppy) that she “kills” then presents to us. And she also cuddles with him, and gives him to us to cuddle when we feel bad. It’s adorable. But yeah, even my “I’m super happy to shoot feral cats” dad would never say that about an actual pet. And to be fair, feral cats are a huge issue in my country. And he hates when people let their cats roam, which is also fair enough. I do too. I just can’t imagine being okay with anyone being that unempathetic to an innocent animal. If they’re that much of a jerk to a cat, why think they’d be a good parent? Or a good partner? There’s also how our society has somehow tied up living cats with being unmanly, which is completely ridiculous and illogical, but that’s too big a topic for a TH-cam comment. If someone acted like that about my cat, I’d give them the boot. They obviously cannot be trusted. It’s so much more than just “I’m not a cat person”. Sorry for the long ramble, guess it just really got to me. I do not trust people that are mean to any animal.
Every animal I've ever had has begged for food so it's weird she complains about it. However when cats beg you have like 2 options, either give them nothing or give them one very small bite. You can't just give them a whole snack or a whole meal that you're eating. Human food is not meant for cats and much of the food we eat is just awful for them. That's why if you must give your cat something you're eating you give them a tiny bite. Like when I eat steak I feel obligated to give my cat a bite. However all my animals are healthy and happy soooo uhh.. yeah. That works. This doesn't.
"Fatphobic" is a fitphobic slur. I'm tired of being shamed for trying to get into shape. If you understood my family history, you would understand why.
@@Attmay same here, family members are quick to assume you’re shallow and uptight for wanting to take care of your body (especially if the rest of your folks are obese)
@@strawberryjam7902 my mom always says "you need to eat more, stop going to the gym so often" while she knows damn well that her, my dad, my grandma from my mother's side and my grandad from my father's side and my uncle are diabetic. I don't ever want to get diabetes. And except for my dad and grandad they're all severely overweight too
Idk how this woman can’t make the connection between feeding him donuts (which WHY) and him getting fat. That poor cat is being neglected/abused by her. And she wants to talk about fat phobia. Ugh
I’m a vet assistant and the fattest cat I’ve personally seen was a cat who was overfed so badly that he weighed about 30lbs when I first met him. He jumped off of a couch and snapped his leg.
I love Jackson Galaxy. He demonstrates that most "bad" cats are actually the result of poor cat parenting and guidance. The cats are usually the victims.
A guest fed my cat (we've been trying for s healthier body weight since adoption) a bit of ham off her plate recently and that made me upset enough. That cat eats nice wet food, she's spoilt enough. 😋
It's weird that he even has a taste for them, honestly. Cats can't taste sweetness. That's why they're obligate carnivores. I know donuts have fat, which I'm sure he can taste that. But still, it's bizarre.
my stepmother was just like this lady. when my dad first met her, her dogs were very overweight. i mean hadn’t seen anything like that before. my dad made it clear early in the relationship the he loves her and wants to be with her but she is abusing those animal and he can’t watch that happen. they worked together and the dogs stayed at his house a lot so they could run in his big yard and play with his dogs. they got the dogs back down to pretty healthy, they both are doing great now and his wife even lost a lot of weight too. proud of them all
How can that guy even take one look at Elvis and say he wouldn’t really care if a coyote got him? He is so adorable. His little face is so cute. Poor Elvis
It feels like it’s more normal for cats to be slightly underweight because most cats with good cat owners aren’t obsessed with food nor given fast foods which are highly addictive. I might be wrong but at least in Sweden it’s VERY rare that I’ve seen a cat that’s been obese from overeating (without a natural cause such as going out to get its own food, or having an early onset of a food disorder)
@@Samuel-ku1qb they aren’t supposed to be underweight either 😂. If you feed your cat the amount of food it needs everyday they will be at a healthy weight
@@Samuel-ku1qb I will say some cats can be food obsessed even if you are feeding them well I have 2 cats that I've had since they were 5 weeks old, only ONE of them is obsessed with food If their plates are a little too close together he will think she's eating his food and straight up slap her on the head. He's a sweetheart unless food is involved
There is so much information out there on maintaining a healthy weight in your cat there is absolutely no reason for a cat to be so overweight. Having a pet is not just about love and having a home you also need to research about that specific animal so that you can ensure it has the best quality of life.
One of the saddest things about seeing Elvis go to town on that doughnut is the fact that cats can't even taste sweets. He's completely addicted to sugar and he can't even enjoy the best part of it. I'm very glad that Jackson Galaxy was able to help save him!
I thought the saddest part was the failing physical health, or the struggle moving around or the inability to sleep. Not enjoying the sweets is probably on like page 3 of the worst part of all this.
It's the fattiness. Cuz my cats will ignore stuff that isn't fatty. So they'll generally ignore a chocolate bar, or candy or bread, but a donut, put butter on that bread? That they'll try and beg me for.
When I was in high school, my mom went on a weight loss journey and lost probably around 50 lbs. During that time, she taught me everything she was learning about health and weight loss and it was a very formative time in my life where I became aware of my own health. She has since rebounded and gained all the weight back, and then some. She tries halfheartedly to lose it periodically, but never sticks with a plan. But, I have really taken her early lessons to heart and have made it a priority to stay slim for the rest of my life. I'm 47 now and have never had a weight issue and I'm very grateful that my mom instilled that desire in me. I am doing the same for my daughter.
Omg poor Elvis :( I adopted two adult obese cats a few years ago (the heavier one weighed as much as Elvis) and while they both lost a bunch of weight while with me, they both died early from weight-related issues. And it wasn’t even hard to get them to lose weight cause as their owner I was the one who had total control over their eating habits. And if you can’t handle a begging cat, maybe you shouldn’t have cats. I also heard that “food = love” isn’t something that cats understand, so I always tried to show my love with cuddles and playtime and made them work for their treats. Please don’t kill your cats with food
I once saw a tweet about a cat needing to lose weight, and i said that it didn’t make sense that losing weight “is healthy for the cat but fatphobic for the human” and got attacked for a week. It’s still true
There are tons of double standards we have for animals that get REAL offensive (to some) when turned on us, like "spay and neuter your pets to prevent overpopulation". Meanwhile, human overpopulation has killed 50% of the world's wildlife in the last 40 years & lead to the current climate crisis that has billionaires scouting out other planets to save the human race.
I'd only like to point that for people sometimes losing weight is a result of solving a bigger problem within themselves. So for example, this cat and some people making diet changes here and there and incorporating healthy habits is enough but for other people it means going to therapy first, or relearning everything they knew about food and health until now, or getting away from a household or a friendship with enablers or abusers, etc. Of course losing weight isn't fat phobic, I just felt like it's something we should have present when we discuss when other people should start a weight loss journey.
Never thought I'd relate to a cat this much. Parents feeding me into morbid obesity, worsening the damage of hip issues and meanwhile pretending they're clueless as to why it might happen and a (step)dad hating on how little you do and how useless you are. I'm so freaking proud of Rachel and the whole family stepping up.
It’s really sad that I take my cats weight and hygiene more seriously than my own. I was mortified when my cat was 3lbs overweight and got him back to normal by the next visit. They didn’t ask to be here and the least we can do is take care of them
Same! I am a professional pet groomer and have often told clients over the years I understand over eating issues personally but none of my cats and dogs are obese because I don’t want them to suffer with obesity the way I have most of my life. I’m not obese anymore but it took me so long to figure out my issues and lose the weight. It’s kind of sad I took better care of my animals’ health than my own.
i'm obese all my life and i have a one year old daughter. i care about her diet more than my own because i didn't wanna repeat the way my parents raised me. every time she gets her vaccines, she's also weighed. i'm very proud of her (and myself too) that i managed to feed her properly and her BMI has always been normal. i'm also trying to watch what i eat but admittedly that has been more challenging than controlling what my kid eats.
Awesome for you! I’m with you. I struggle with my weight too, but that’s my problem. I can at least make healthy choices for my pets very easily. Good on you!!💕
In defense of Ted: reality shows frequently clip together words/scenes and remove context to portray people as “characters” with simple motivations so that we as the audience have someone to root for or against. It makes for more compelling television, often at the expense of the people who have been demonized (usually without them knowing until it airs). We have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. However, Ted’s raw hatred of the cat is so intense it feels outlandish. I would bet money that it’s either entirely fake or that a casual distaste for cats has been really played up for views. So don’t send him too much hate, he’s human and we just don’t know what goes on behind the scenes!
There was a horrifically obvious frankenbyte from the mum when they were talking about the vet visit. I honestly don't understand how people don't notice when it's so obviously words from different sentences edited together. You can tell when it's just a voice over and the camera doesn't actually show the words coming out the person's mouth.
Crying laughing at your commentary on how this guy acts towards this innocent cat 😂 "If this guy was my husband I'd have emotional eating issues too." Mood.
Well... Imagine the kind of family that would let her turn out like this. Or if not the family itself, the way they raised her since she ended up like this.
@@cutienerdgirl Yeah, for now. The baby has been drinking PUFA contaminated milk since the second it was born, and the other kid probably runs outside all day
This episode was actually really deep as there were cat, human, mom, & dad issues all working at once…. love that Elvis is getting slim & healthy and actually helped the whole family.
I showed my cat (rip - lived to age 21) love by feeding, playing, and comforting him. After I had to leave the room for a moment at the vet's one time (checkup after a tiny infected cut), my mum's first comment was "The cat was looking around and crying, I think he was scared you'd left." THAT was love.
I have a puppy and I have strict rules that my parents won’t feed her any junk food or human food, the other day I caught my dad giving her BBQ chips and I was so mad; his answer was “well if I can’t feed her don’t ask me to watch her”. It was so infuriating.
Seriously? "If I can't feed her don't ask me to watch her?" He wasn't asked to feed her, he was asked to watch her. And he needs to respect the rules that you set out for him to watch your fur baby.
@@YOYO-dv8gv I know!! They’re excuse for feeding her is that nothing will happen to her as long as they don’t give her chocolate, and I’m like 😡😡😡 I don’t want her to crave junk food , is it that hard to ask??

the cat is not "emulating" the owners behavior. The cat is a victim of the owner. "Emulating" implies that the cat is watching the owner eat and making the decision to eat like that.
Cat ain’t on his motorized shopping cart cruising the grocery aisles. He’s not watching her behavior then imitating it. Owner is on that cart and she’s killing her cat by offering the treats she does. Most animals will eat tasty foods if offered.
my friend has a cat who started to put on a lot of weight. the doctor told them that the problem was his lack of mobility. so the whole family started taking him on walk and playing with him even more. and to this day he's lost weight and is STILL alive. in cat years he's a senior citizen. and still healthy.
About the argument that babies use food as a copping mechanism: I don’t think that’s actually the case; babies soothe by sucking or because of the skin to skin contact with their mother, not because of the fact that they are being fed.
Yeah, could be considering why pacifiers exists, or some soothing methods of sucking the thumb, even if they aren't getting the nutrients. I wonder what kind of study do they really use, since they like using it so much to push this 'fat acceptance' agenda?
No, my baby definitely uses food as a coping mechanism. Bizarre because my first son did not. However, they are only 18 months apart and if I am extremely busy and unable to hold him for awhile, I notice that he eats more to soothe, which then warrants me picking him up, cuddling him, & interacting because I don't want to deprive him...and then my toddler throws a fit and gets jealous...lol and the cycle repeats.
Eating does boost your levels of all the jazzy neuro transmitters (serotonin and shit)- and being hungry saps them. It's part of a natural reward mechanism to incentivise finding food. This is present from birth. Food /can/ absolutely soothe you, so it can therefore soothe a baby. Babies need to learn to self-soothe eventually though. At a certain point, you have to let them learn how they can comfort themselves, or spend time with them to soothe them, instead of giving in to stop the crying. A lot of babies cry simply because they're lonely and want to be held- but also because they're a blank slate and everything remotely 'bad' is literally one of the worst things that's happened to them so far in their tiny life. Just like an adult that seeks food as a coping mechanism for poor mood, babies will pitch a fit seeking that chemical rebalance, but may not even be hungry. It's not a bad argument because the premise is untrue; it's bad because it validates unhealthy coping mechanisms. As someone who has suffered food addiction, I must say, that coping with food should not be demonized, but that it should not be treated as valid either. Rewarding yourself with food once in a while is fine, but it's when you eat to relieve a poor mood that the issues begin. Everyone on earth who can will at some point do it and it's no shame but it's unhealthy for your mind.
1) The lisp is barely there. As someone who’s had braces twice in my life and still wear my retainers every night, you get used to the sound and learn how to make the same sounds you did before the braces. You’ll sound like yourself in no time! 2) I LOVE your old people videos! The time and research you put into your videos make any topic worth watching. Watching your videos, I lost 40 pounds, so I’m definitely a big (though not as big) fan!! Love you girl, you’re gorgeous and your videos kick ass!
I remember watching this episode. Always thought part of the woman's weight issues were because she's married to her husband. There were obviously some pre-existing self-esteem issues to lead her to marry that guy.
I saw this episode! I remember thinking at the time, "Why does Elvis even know what a donut tastes like"? I don't give my cats any of that, the best they've ever gotten is some ice cream they went and licked when my back was turned.
My cat likes lettuce. I don’t get it. If she manages to jump into the fridge when you open the door, she goes straight for the lettuce. It’s weird. But no, she has no idea what cookies or donuts or anything like that tastes like. I do have to be very careful to have my plate/bowl rinsed immediately if I’ve had something with mushrooms, because she will lick the bowl, and mushrooms are deadly to cats. But she doesn’t get fed junk food. I have given her some fish, chicken breast or steak- but like, it’s cooked for us and I put aside plain meat to then give her at dinner in her bowl, she doesn’t get it from our plates or anything like that. I just happen to think that my cat deserves a treat of a nice meat or fish dinner every now and then. I mean, my childhood dog was so fussy that my mum had to cook his meals for him. Every week she’d cook up a pot of kangaroo mince and other nice stuff that the vet recommended. And I did help myself to some from the pot because it really was just savoury mince. Perfectly edible for humans, and not too much different from the savoury mince mum would cook to go into homemade meat pies. So compared to having to cook every meal for my pet, I don’t mind cooking up a small amount of meat or fish for my cat every now and then.
I cringe when I hear "Im an emotional eater." because most bad habits and addictions stem from an emotional attachment. Its like saying Dexter Morgan is an emotional killer.
Just like the women's food issues are emulated in the cat, one has to wonder if the way the husband speaks of the cat is how he treats his wife. Therefore, her own self coping with food while also giving the cat the same treatment because the husband treats it like he treats her.
I have the feeling that's true. Look at how he laughs at her when they asked about the walks while she shamefully answers she has no excuses. He's a horrible husband.
I love the lack of self awareness and naivety in this thread. The husband told he is not a cat person. Not everyone wants pets and not everyone wants cats as pets. The wife and son are the ones who probably wanted the cat and as a 'understanding' man of the house, he probably just accepted it. Doesn't mean, he immediately has to like the cat or ever. He said it, he is a Dog person. You people are straight up putting your weird ass deranged opinions on the man who just doesn't like cats. And I love you all following this channel that is about holding yourself accountable for your own problems like obesity and then blaming the husband for his wife being fat. Yeah, he is the one stuffing food in her mouth.

Never forget that one cat from hell episode where the cat was a 25 year old sweetheart and it was the wife who wanted to get rid of him because the cat brought in from her husband’s previous relationship. 😤
She was destroyed on social media because after the show she did get rid of the cat. The cat ended up with a better owner, so it ended well (sort of) for the cat.
My cat, Nina, steals stuff like those other kitties. She's stolen a bag of lentils, gluten free soy sauce in tiny fish containers, and veggie nuggets. Oh, that Nina!
Yeah, I have one of "those" cats. He can pull lids off pans, he'll take food from bags, and he'll ninja his way into the trash. We put child locks on cabinets, keep a water spray bottle to keep him off counters and table, rinse all dirty dishes, and feed him twice a day. He was on diet food for a year, and wasn't happy. lol To be fair, he was a shelter dumpster kitty, so he's definitely got fear of hunger.
Please don't use spray bottles for discipline, they're ineffective and only damages your cat's trust with you. There's automatic water sprayers with sensors so the cat doesn't associate the bad spray bottle with you. :) Edit: tin foils on counters is not a good idea either as I've been informed some cats like to chew on it and eat it...
@@jarofdirt9 lol I tried the tin foil thing with my cat and he pulled it down and started chewing on it and I had to pull it away from him... my cat is weird tho
@@jarofdirt9 tin foil is a zillion times worse though! Pls never do that! If the cat chews on it and swallows it, it could fudge up its gut and even die! there are cats who have pica, they’ll chew and swallow anything.
As a fresh new mom, I just want to say, it's not the eating that soothes the baby, it's the act of suckling. Hence pacifiers are a thing. I breastfeed, which means I feed on demand when he's hungry. He literally regulates my milk supply, meaning I cannot overfeed him. If he's not hungry and I offer him my boob, he won't take it. If he's crying but not hungry, he'll suckle a bit, usually lighter than when he drinks, and slower, cause it's not about the milk. Now it is possible to overfeed with formula, which is also why formula-feeding has a correlation to obesity in later life. Hence you should be cautious of how much you give and how often you give a bottle, thus growth curves are so important. All that is to say that even for infants, the tweet is blatantly false.
I once bought baby milk because It was the start of the pandemic and all the powdered milk was gone so I was panicking anyway....I tasted it. Christ. I like sweet things but that crap was insane. Insane. I put a bit im my tea like two teaspoon and holy crap it was tooth wincingly sweet. I then looked at the back and its mostly sugar. I used to taste breast milk when we had extracted it and it was nothing like as sweet ..it was sweet but nothing compared. I mean if somone cant do breasts then what else can they do. The same companies also make these aweful constipated sugar drinks for the elderly which are so bad for them. They also fund the dieticians and nutritionist associations along with kellogs snd Danone and nestle... they gave my diabetic mom those things while giving out to her for eating blueberries!
Very well said. I once spent a long trip on a train with a lady who had breast fed her 2-year old. He would still ask for her nipple once or twice a day, especially before going to sleep. It comforted him and made him feel secure. He was eating normal food (very healthy too, cooked from scratch. The parents were academics, very environmentally conscious, using reusable nappies and menstrual pads, and eating 'organic' and not drinking tap water. They were also Ashkenazi Jews and had family histories of breast and ovarian cancers), it wasn't about the milk. He was quite lean, and that lady explained to me that for babies who were breast fed, you had to use a different weight gain chart as that for babies who were formula fed, as they didn't gain weight as quickly. He had been born 1 month early anyway, and his parents were not big or tall, so he was probably going to be 5 ft 4 or so as an adult.
@@yehmen29 my babies were massive on the boob. And so were my boobs. Sometimes if I misjudged a feeding and didnt swap over in time I would end up with one massive boob and one totally empty little flap of wrinkled skin on the other side which could be quite funny. Also painful. I would often nod off mid feed and wake up to this bizzare slight of my body. And then have to extract my big side ... thankfully I got used to making sure not to fall asleep on the first side!
I *love* Jackson! Him and Kitten Lady have helped me be the best cat carer I can be! Hey, Kiana, I would honestly watch any video you make, regardless of the subject. This is because of what I see in you. You are an intelligent, articulate human and your take on things is so balanced and unhateful. It is really a breath of fresh air listening to people like you. As for poor Elvis, as a cat mom, it really breaks my heart to see how oblivious one can be to what a cat's diet should be. They are obligated carnivores and that is all they should eat. I spend a few hours every month prepping my cat's food to make sure that it has everything she would have in her real, wild diet, then freeze daily portions. This way I know she won't overeat and she's a healthy lil girl despite having a horrible start in life (rickets, malnourished, bone fractures). In my opinion THIS is the way to show your love to anyone. Learn what they need and make the effort to provide it. I don't blame Elvis's mom though, as I know that when you are in a bad place yourself, it is difficult to change and do the right thing. She seems to care and be trying though and that's a really good start. Anyway, thank you for making these videos, I'm always happy to see you published something new!
Congratulations on your new smile! So many things wrong with this whole situation. That being said, I love Jackson Galaxy, watching his shows helped me take care of our cats and understand them better.
As psychologist, I totally relate to your emotional reaction to the lack of awareness of the lady. That's amazing but so common also. And kuddos to Jackson Galaxy. He's now my new hero!! :)
Its heartbreaking when the bad habits of an owner end up damaging their pet. Also I got braces when I was 24, and absolutely it was the best decision I ever made. Had them on for 2 years and now I smile at everyone.
We give our cats a couple of pieces of cheese popcorn or cheese puffs, etc. once in awhile, however it’s definitely not a part of their daily or weekly diets (Sophie tries to drink chocolate milk once in awhile when a cup is left unattended). While our cats do enjoy cat treats, sometimes we put dry food in a treat container once the original treats in it are finished. Clara is around 11/12 pounds and Sophie is around 8/9 pounds.

Or the reverse? I don't like cats at all and my husband would never in a million years force me to have one. Thankfully he is a dog man so we have no issues but he would respect my wishes as i would his, if one of us feels a certain way we respect it.
@@kL-vs6wz That too. Forcing him to put up with something he clearly dislikes is maybe even a little worse. My husband is mildly allergic to cats, so he would prefer we didn't have them. But, I had the cats before he and I met, so he was never going to make it a "me or them" issue.
@@kL-vs6wz it’s possible she had the cat before the jerk, I mean husband. I wouldn’t get rid of my pet for anybody. If they were allergic, I’d say that the relationship wasn’t meant to be. The only way I’d rehome my cat would be if my kid was allergic. That’s the only person I’d put above my cat in that way. And honestly, even if she forced a cat on someone who doesn’t really like cats, there’s still no need for him to be such a jerk- to the cat or to her. Setting her up to have to admit failure and then laughing at it? Yeah, nah this guy is just a jerk. They all deserve better.
I am literally a vet student and in this dorm just told a first year she needed to stop feeding her cat so much. And I told her this out of love for that kitty because I noticed he got out of breath when playing with him... She said "i'll just starve him then." I'm genuinely scared of what she'll be like as a vet but I hope after she got over my comment she actually reflected on it and did something. Probably was the only person brave enough to say it though but it needed to be said...

My parents cat got really fat because my dad, who had dementia, kept feeding her whenever she asked for food. She learned that when she meowed she would get food, coz my dad would forget that he fed her before. My mum was able to put her on a diet and her weight was under control within 2 months. She's still going strong at 20 years old.
Man my grandfather decided to get my cat overweight behind my back by giving him an extra meal the size of 1.5 servings(mind you this would be at 4 in the morning when I'm asleep) nothing made me more furious but to think an owner would do this to their cat is shocking I was mad at myself for letting it even getting anywhere. On top of the fact my grand father gave 0 fucks and has never apologized. The process of getting my cat back to normal weight is slow but it's getting along.
I’m sorry if this is going to sound ageism, but old people tend to feed animals junk food. Like I used to walk this elderly woman dog who was obese, because he eats rodeo whopper and Big Mac. With a side of curly fries cover with cheese 🧀

Great video Kiana. I'm struggling to lose weight myself and your videos help motivate me to take my health more seriously. I have fatty liver, am prediabetic, And have super high blood pressure. A change has to be made or else I'm going to die soon. Thank you for making these videos. I have lost 15 lbs in the past month by simply counting my calories and walking everyday.
Kiana, this has to be the strangest enabler that you have ever talked about. BTW, Kiana, don't be surprised if a modeling agent offers you a tryout when they see 0:00 .
Am I the only one who noticed that the cat did NOT actually eat the donut??? At 6:48 I noticed that the camera shot allows the donut to block the view of Elvis eating. The donut doesn't move, and Elvis' nose is oddly close to the floor... Then at 14:29 you can CLEARLY see a piece of plain old cat food bounce out from behind the donut!! I'm not saying that Elvis doesn't eat donuts. But I am saying that the film crew was never able to catch him doing it, and resorted to cheap tricks to make us think they did...
At least the lady recognized her fault too (even though she must have felt horrible in her own struggles ...). BUT ELVIS IS SO CUTEEEEEE I want to pet him 😭
My mum was a dog lover, and every one of the dogs she owned during the course of her life was obese. Consequently they all developed health problems and none lived their full life span. Yet she could NOT stop stuffing them with junk food - including chocolate, which is extremely bad for dogs. She would say things like “an occasional treat does no harm” while the poor animals were practically too fat to walk.
Feeding works for babies because they need all the calories they can get. They also have tiny stomachs so they need food often.. The act of nursing (as well as skin to skin contact, cuddling, etc) is also necessary for a newborn's physiological and emotional health.
My family’s cat Metal is 21. She’s a little more delicate with age but it’s not too hard to look after her. Give her proper food, keep her comfortable, give her affection. This little Elvis cat breaks my heart seeing how they just don’t look after him 😕
Could you do another video about a 'my cat from hell' cat? This cat is called Balaa and his thin owner feels the need to constantly feed him more because he gives her 'the look' and stuff.
I love your more in depth content. It’s actually interesting to listen too. And fun! You are ,platter of fact but friendly. Keep doing what you do! Thank you
Unfortunately, the same thing often happens with their children, obese parents have obese children. I remember watching this episode on TV back in the days, and I wonder how that lady and her family are now.
I have a cat that has barfing problems. She will eat too much too quickly and then regurgitate it. She's a good weight, but I have to keep her on a strict schedule so she can get enough food (small servings multiple times a day). She is also one of those cats that will get into any food on the counter, chew through bags, etc. So I keep ZERO food on the counters.
I recently got braces as an adult and it was so worth it. An investment in yourself is money well spent. You'll adjust to them and that initial lisp will melt away faster than you think. Best of luck and love the hair!

@@ClaireCraig thats a interesting observation
Wow
@@ClaireCraig I agree for sure
Do you need help?”
But she’s also very attuned to our emotions, and will offer us comfort if we’re feeling bad.

It’s so annoying how people think that a cat being fat is “normal” and it’s really not. Cats are NOT supposed to be overweight

It is true. Humans are more emotional than pets, plus animals can't always control what they eat, they eat what their owners give them.
There are tons of double standards we have for animals that get REAL offensive (to some) when turned on us, like "spay and neuter your pets to prevent overpopulation". Meanwhile, human overpopulation has killed 50% of the world's wildlife in the last 40 years & lead to the current climate crisis that has billionaires scouting out other planets to save the human race.
ur right sara.. ur right
I'd only like to point that for people sometimes losing weight is a result of solving a bigger problem within themselves.
Twitter is a cesspool of coping mechanisms and belligerent stupidity. No surprise there.

Because I have seen a video on that monkey experiment I could agree with your point
Babies cry for food that's how they communicate they are not eating because they are sad!

You people are straight up putting your weird ass deranged opinions on the man who just doesn't like cats. And I love you all following this channel that is about holding yourself accountable for your own problems like obesity and then blaming the husband for his wife being fat. Yeah, he is the one stuffing food in her mouth.
Kiana, you’re spreading very important knowledge. Please don’t stop these kind of videos. The world needs you. Truly, the social media today is so toxic and frankly, after watching your videos I’ve started to learn and truly understand the difference. Eating is not a healthy coping mechanism.
I’ve shared your videos with family members and friends. Please share your voice on TikTok and other platforms. Seeing you talk about such important things, important topics and addressing deep rooted issues into a person’s behaviour has taught me so much.
Your videos have permanently changed my stance on this topic.
Never forget that one cat from hell episode where the cat was a 25 year old sweetheart and it was the wife who wanted to get rid of him because the cat brought in from her husband’s previous relationship. 😤
I'd like to watch that! What's the best search term to use?
link pls I need to watch this precious baby
Jeez, at 25 years just wait, lady. All it takes is a little patience
@@yltraviole 😂😂😂
She was destroyed on social media because after the show she did get rid of the cat. The cat ended up with a better owner, so it ended well (sort of) for the cat.
Please don't lose the glimmer of humanity that you display with your editing (genuine quips, laughs, and so on). It makes your content unique!🙃👍
I never heard if this show before, but I'm happy the host got a break from aggressive cats! Elvis is so chill
Yeah cuz he can’t move
@@danib712 I've seen an aggressive obese cat before...? Have you
@@Anna-po1sb he's literally got a thousand illnesses on top of being obese tho
Edit: tin foils on counters is not a good idea either as I've been informed some cats like to chew on it and eat it...
@@jarofdirt9 lol I tried the tin foil thing with my cat and he pulled it down and started chewing on it and I had to pull it away from him... my cat is weird tho
how's he doing nowadays?
Idk why but my cat constantly tries to steal bread. I have had to start putting my bread (especially fresh bread) in the cabinet.
@@jarofdirt9 tin foil is a zillion times worse though! Pls never do that! If the cat chews on it and swallows it, it could fudge up its gut and even die! there are cats who have pica, they’ll chew and swallow anything.
Love how you are so kind and savagely truthful at the same time
As a fresh new mom, I just want to say, it's not the eating that soothes the baby, it's the act of suckling.
Jackson specifically though changed my fiance's opinion on cats; he used to be a jerk just like this dad when we met 12 years ago and now he's helping me rescue, foster and adopt out cats and kittens 😁
My fiance recently foster failed and seeing him and his cat, NeoPet, knowing how he used to be/feel is just more proof Jackson is amazing!
in all fairness i would also reject a high quality cat treat for a doughnut
I stan Jackson Galaxy he's so wholesome
he's the best😭😭
I didn’t know him by name but I remember watching him years ago and loving him so when I saw him I was so excited!
He has lost a bunch of weight too, right?
I just got to that part of the video, nevermind my question🤗
The kid has a channel about feeding his cat to get him 30LBS!!! He's a fucking psychopath!
Congratulations on your new smile! So many things wrong with this whole situation. That being said, I love Jackson Galaxy, watching his shows helped me take care of our cats and understand them better.
"If this guy was my husband, I'd probably have emotional eating problems too" BAHAHAHA SIS you killed me
As psychologist, I totally relate to your emotional reaction to the lack of awareness of the lady.
Now we wear mask everywhere :(
We give our cats a couple of pieces of cheese popcorn or cheese puffs, etc. once in awhile, however it’s definitely not a part of their daily or weekly diets (Sophie tries to drink chocolate milk once in awhile when a cup is left unattended). While our cats do enjoy cat treats, sometimes we put dry food in a treat container once the original treats in it are finished. Clara is around 11/12 pounds and Sophie is around 8/9 pounds.
I absolutely ADORE Jackson Galaxy! I'm glad to see that he was able to help not only the cat but the FAMILY'S health as a whole!
The kid has a channel about feeding his cat to get him 30LBS!!! He's a fucking psychopath! Bencramchoi or look up "Fat Elvis Eat Eat Eat!!! Get Fatter👍" all bad news for the cat unfortunately :
Now I just had to google "before and after fat loss cat". And it's the cutest most encouraging stuff.
Clear signpost of an unhealthy family: the dad doesn't respect his son and wife enough to swallow his dislike of cats.
Or we’d just have to live apart until my cat dies a natural death of old age. Or if it was a mild allergy, they can take antihistamines.
@@kL-vs6wz search for treatment. Psychological and psychiatric as well if needed. This is clearly a disorder.

“You can’t make this face, it’s you”
That shit got me 😂😂😂😂
Ps - casual content is freaking awesome. Please do more of these.
This makes me so incredibly sad. I almost didn’t click on this video because of how hard it is for me to watch animals suffer due to human negligence
Yeah. They’re so disgusting.
The world needs more people like the old guy, willing to say what he thinks, in spite of the obvious fact it will offend some people.
ok but the clips of cats stealing food is a little funny... but i for real hate people who overfeed their cats. its like with kids, they dont know whats goin on they cant help it >:((
My parents cat got really fat because my dad, who had dementia, kept feeding her whenever she asked for food. She learned that when she meowed she would get food, coz my dad would forget that he fed her before. My mum was able to put her on a diet and her weight was under control within 2 months. She's still going strong at 20 years old.
What a wholesome ending! Awww, yay Elvis!
"im just talking because i have to break up these clips..." gotta respect the grind lol
I love all the Kiana comments on the show, she makes you to stay focus on the subject.
Cheers from Mexico.
@@asteriasheria2053 in my grandfather's case he's just ignorant to whats actually healthy and what falls in the range of a healthy body, which is not surprise as a 60+ yr old chronic alcoholic, he would think I would starve my cat when he was 10 pounds and slightly bigger then average.
Edit: Which it's probably also the case that older people are ignorant to health then younger people and the internet. But it's not like people on average are very healthy anyway at any age.
My grandma got her cat obese too, he has like 5 bowls of food
@@asteriasheria2053 curly fries covered in cheese sounds so good rn...
Jackson Galaxy is on TH-cam too, I LOVE his work 😁
Also, obese pets frustrate me to no end, I feel so bad for them 😞
Let's not forget that she decided to do the right thing and call for help. Yes, it's infuriating. But we are only in a position to mock the mom because she was not one of the many, many people who let their pets suffer and die in silence
Sure, we could should give credit where credit is due, but we also shouldn't be congratulating people for doing the bare minimum. Getting help when you realize your cat is dying seems like the bare minimum to me.
@@thelemurofmadagascar9183That would be due credit. It’s far worse for someone to just continue on the path they’re going because they don’t know what the problem is and/or how to fix it
I very much enjoy how chill and humorous you are about this

Furbabies + Kiana = best Tuesday ever.
I liked this one a lot, it's so good to see people getting themselves into a position of awareness 🥰 and sweet for Elvis!!
The crossover I never expected
The small lisp you have because of braces is honestly so cute and endearing 😭 love you and your vids!
Feeding works for babies because they need all the calories they can get. They also have tiny stomachs so they need food often.. The act of nursing (as well as skin to skin contact, cuddling, etc) is also necessary for a newborn's physiological and emotional health.
Just keep them feed with donuts then. All the junk food they can have.
Nah it's fine, I was raised by the bottle and I turned out alright except for my repressed desire to hunt homeless people for fun.
@@MK_ULTRA420 I must have been raised by bottle because I wanna die.

I love your more in depth content. It’s actually interesting to listen too. And fun! You are ,platter of fact but friendly. Keep doing what you do! Thank you
There's a tv show from UK called "secret eaters" and it shows how we can easily over eat during the day and not even realizing it.
ObSESSED with Jackson. ❤
Unfortunately, the same thing often happens with their children, obese parents have obese children.
I remember watching this episode on TV back in the days, and I wonder how that lady and her family are now.
Jackson is such a beautiful person, and I feel so sorry for that lady and her struggles! I hope Elvis is doing well ❤️ poor baby
“My cat is fat, I don’t want him to die!”
Then stop feeding it so much…
I have a cat that has barfing problems.
