in this point, multiprogramming multi means many and programming means set of instruction. now multiprogramming means multiple sets of instruction or program running at a time, and handled by the operating system. now context switching means when your CPU is running one process or job at that instance of time interrupts occurs or needs an i/o for current process & at that time CPU will be free so that amount of time will be wasted and that is not good for os so, that issue will be solved using context switching. when your CPU will do i/o process at that time CPU checks for any other job which will be upcoming or in the stack, which will come next after process one completed but, when the 1st process leave CPU and doing i.o process at that time CPU switch to next process and that switching will be known as context switching. here context in the sense new process.
