They actually got a real giraffe named Naboo from the Calgary Zoo. Pedro and Bella fed him and worked with him for a few days so he would get comfortable.
We know she didn’t expect to die because she made plans to leave with Joel after. Marlene ass told her some lies for sure. Everybody that knew about Ellie would have gotten got. Nurses too. Byeee
Apparently, the biggest complaint from many people was the lack of infected. The first season focused much more on story than infected, but the second game is even more story-driven, so people expecting to see many more infected in season 2 will most likely be disappointed.
Yes this is a very heavy story driven show. Maybe some people were expecting this to be more like The Walking Dead were you have tons and tons of infected in every episode. The Last Of Us is not that type of show the STORY is what comes first. If someone wants lot's of infected and action play the games you will get the core story as well LOL.
Yep. Marlene explicitly said they didn't tell Ellie so she wouldn't be afraid. The game did continue after showing Ellie in the car, after the car broke down and even had you playing as Ellie to get up over some rocks and hills to see the town on the hydroelectric dam. Also, why are they jumping to the one thing they know will kill Ellie? They could draw some blood, do some MRI scans or do non-lethal brain surgery, take samples of the brain without killing Ellie? At least try that first before killing her off the moment she arrives.
@@Hann61669 Counter point. Finding a cure from Ellie's death isn't a guarantee. Second, even if they find the cure, there is no way to manufacture it in mass quantity. Lastly, the will be a problem of distribution. As to the question if it's worth it or not, it depends on who you ask. For Joel, definitely. Joel didn't make it worse, he put an end to any possibility of finding a cure. Doctors are hard to find in the apocalypse, even harder with a neurosurgeon. So yeah, there is no going back from this. Now all he and the rest of humanity can do is live with the consequences.
Marlene cries when they walk Joel out. She cares for Ellie, but she knows that humanity needs a cure. I think Ellie would have signed up to die, but Joel was too broken to allow that to happen. This ending is divisive, indeed.
Hot Take: I honestly don’t blame Joel for getting Ellie out of the hospital because if it were my sister or someone that I truly love, I’d do anything to get them out of that predicament. Now yeah, you could say what Joel did was selfish which - as a consequence - doomed humanity for the sake of a cure being made but Joel did what he did because he viewed Ellie as Sarah, his daughter. If he lost Ellie, he would have lost another Sarah so he couldn’t take that chance. It’s a paternal instinct of what he did & I don’t blame him for that. Overall, I loved the show as it’s definitely the best live-adaptation of a game to date but one that’s got its flaws. This is up there with the likes of Arcane & Castlevania for me. Even so, it surpassed my expectations & can’t wait to see what Season 2 will bring to the table!
To be fare they didn't show Riley die in the game. It went off the same in the dlc. And this episode basically plays out exactly like the game. You do feel with the emotions after David, and she did have him swear to her outside of Jackson on the hill.
Bella said on twitter that the ending would be divisive but l don't think she was saying they were going to change it, just that the decision Joel made was going to divide people. Btw l would have done every thing Joel did in that situation they didn't tell Ellie she was probably going to die from the surgery she obviously thought she was going to live and leave with Joel and follow him anywhere after they were done. They also didn't give Joel and Ellie a chance to talk and say goodbye even if Ellie was told she may die they deserved that opportunity. Only thing l disagree with is Joel lying to her when she told him to swear he was telling the truth. As far as Joel's "obligation" to save humanity...humans are trash( not all but for the most part) so F humanity
Trey isn't even watching the final moments of the finale. Or in a lot of other quiet scenes. So much is going on in their faces in these moments might wanna watch the show.
20:40 so Bella Ramsey said that the ending to the show would be controversial, and people who played the game and were under the impression that this show was made specifically for them and no one else (and assumed the worst) thought that meant they were going to change the ending. In reality, they did the same ending because it's already controversial, people forget how divisive it was when the game first released. That's all she was referencing but some people took it the wrong way and made judgements before knowing the facts, which is totally uncharacteristic for the internet ik
in the game, the car scene isnt the end. its the same as in the show where they are heading back to Tommy´s and Ellie asks the same things to Joel about the fireflies. Both show and game end the same way with Ellie asking Joel to promise what everything went down is true.
They did have that small scene of them at the end going through the grass path to Tommy's discussing what Elle did at the mall it played out exactly the same all the way through
Im gonna miss watching y'all react to this! I loved Tashas knowledge of the game. I said the same thing about giving birth during a time like that. I wouldn't even be risking getting pregnant!
The point is both Joel and Marline are in the wrong, neither of them gave her a choice. While we didn't see it much Marline also cared about Ellie a lot but she fell on the side of saving humanity so didn't give her a choice out. Joel lost his daughter, himself, and his hope but Ellie brought all that back and he is completely incapable of losing her and even if Ellie chose (its implied she would say yes to marline) Joel would have still done the same thing regardless. They are both wrong and flip sides of the same coin. Joel is not a good person, hes a hurt person who can't lose his second chance but we care about him because of the journey we went on with him and saw his good side. Also no spoilers but I honestly recently went back and watched a playthrough of part 2 again and I have to say I think the story is fine BUT what I hope the show does is rearrange the order of how things are shown and told. light spoilers under this but this is the order I think it should be put it to make it feel better. They should start with all the Abby stuff in chronological order up to when her and Owen are about to scout > flash back to abby at the hospital > joel telling tommy what happened at the end of p1 > Elle in chronological order trimmed a bit for run time > Ellie going out scouting cutting ir during the weed part > back to abby and owen to when abby finds horse tracks and follows them > back to ellie when jesse shows up and they ride out > joel and tommy at their station then abby shows up to when they get to the base > show ellie and gang riding up to base > show the scene > show ellie showing up > thing happens > Ellie in jackson > abby day 1 > ellie day 1 > abby day 2 > ellie day 2 > abby day 3 > ellie day 3 > the final chapter
There are gonna be way more who check in next season to see what things they changed from the game. I would be surprised if they continue to stick to the game as much.
Did Joel do the right thing.... Not necessarily. I think Joel did what he thought was right for Ellie. Both Marlene AND Joel should've woke Ellie and explain the situation to her, but I think Joel knew she would've went with procedure anyway because she wanted her life to mean something. So he did a selfish thing. As a parent I'm not faulting him for it but I'm also not gonna sit here act like he did something noble because if he did he wouldn't have to lie to Ellie about it. That's what his true mistake was.
They never said this “cure” was even a definite it was “thinks” and “could be” who would let someone kill their loved one on a hunch for someone else?! I totally agree with Joel one they flashbanged them knowing who they were and knocked him out so he couldn’t ask questions then they don’t pay him and basically tell her idiots to shoot him outside notice how they were antagonizing him? Oh and never let him even say good bye to her they treated a very dangerous man like trash then basically was walking him to his death and was going to kill Ellie for a CHANCE and people wonder why he went the hell off I don’t blame him at all And she never even told Ellie Ellie didn’t even know she was drugged I have a feeling even if she said no Marlene would make her
Also this one group of doctors magically know how to make a vaccine, mass produce it? They have the expertise in that field? If so that's extremely lucky.
@@theeLonelyRedPanda I wouldn't say it's lucky. That doctor was probably around Joel age and was probably a scientist/Doctor or something. Plus they had the equipment to create the cure
maybe this is just me , but the actress looks too young for part 2 of the game ....i am so excited for the sequel , that game 's story was amazing to watch
What the hell kind of fourth rate med school did that doctor go to that his first idea was 'fatal brain surgery'?! No biopsy, no blood test, you just butcher what may be the only living test subject you have? Nah, I'm Team Joel on this one.
Sorry this took so long to get up guys! This finale was amazing, we hope you enjoyed the show just as much as we did!

That’s ok as long as it’s out now
The fact they brought the voice actors of Ellie, Joel, Tommy, Marlene and Abby in one season is phenomenal
They actually got a real giraffe named Naboo from the Calgary Zoo.
Pedro and Bella fed him and worked with him for a few days so he would get comfortable.
Joel may didn’t save the world with his decision…. but he saved his world
And that's why he is selfish. The life of the many outweighs the life of the few.
@@peace4myheart It doesn't. Sacrifice a kid to save humanity doesn't have humanity at all.
@@peace4myheart They didn't even know if it would lead to a cure. It was Ellie's choice alone, and she was denied it.
The fireflies would be the Victor's. A cure would allow for the weaponization of cordyceps.
We know she didn’t expect to die because she made plans to leave with Joel after. Marlene ass told her some lies for sure. Everybody that knew about Ellie would have gotten got. Nurses too. Byeee
Agreed, in the game I toasted all their asses in that OR 😂.

I love that this episode was true to the game. Yes, the giraffe was real that they were feeding. They filmed that part at the actual Calgary Zoo.
Yep. Marlene explicitly said they didn't tell Ellie so she wouldn't be afraid.

I would've made the same decision as Joel. And lied to Ellie as well. It's a selfish decision but we love who we love.
True. I don’t even have kids but I know 💯 I’d have the same reaction as Joel (you know what I mean).
Marlene was kind of right tho. Was it even worth it? Since the outcome is yeah... if anything Joel made everything worse.
@@Hann61669 Counter point. Finding a cure from Ellie's death isn't a guarantee. Second, even if they find the cure, there is no way to manufacture it in mass quantity. You cannot condemn Marlene for lying to Ellie, but praise Joel for Lying to Ellie. That is hypocrisy...😏😏
I don't believe I condemned Marlene. I think both points are valid. I just would've went with Joel's decision.
Fun fact Laura Bailey camoed in the episode as one of the nurses
I agree Tasha 100% ! Let the bodies hit the floor ! 💯🤷🏾♂️
Marlene cries when they walk Joel out. She cares for Ellie, but she knows that humanity needs a cure. I think Ellie would have signed up to die, but Joel was too broken to allow that to happen. This ending is divisive, indeed.
Joel didn't completely lie to Ellie about what happened at the hospital. Raider did attack it, but unfortunately that raider is Joel.
I like how Tasha broke it down from Joel’s prospective.

If the Firefly got a cure, and was able to manufacture it, they would be able to weaponize cordyceps.
Ashley Johnson was also in growing pains as a kid,….and as a kid she looked like Bella.
The giraffe is real yall! His name is Nabo and he lives at the Calgary zoo. This was his film debut ❤
Damn, Tasha is on point. I agree with everything she said.

Joel went out with a bang 🔥
Ashley was a child star on growing pains
I am just loving this new intro music! So good.
Neill Druckmann asked the game play testers if Joel made the right choice - without kids 50-50 parents with kids 100% pro Joel.

13:32 the way he flipped out that knife 😆
This season was fire, I dont blame Joel at all for what he did, if he didn't do that Eliie would be dead and there would be no continuation.
Then accept the consequences when Abby comes for you….
The close-up was a real giraffe. The ones in the distance were CGI.
