The faux M1A is even more cursed when you look closely. The ejection port looks like it’s aligned with the top gas tube rather than the barrel.
It _sort_ of does - it looks like it is a bit lower than the gas tube, but not quite as low as the barrel? Super weird.
The gas piston also butts right up to the chamber. The bullet should be heading down the gas tube and not the barrel.
Also the two separate rear iron sights, the rearmost of which is completely blocking the other, which is in turn at the wrong height to align with the front post.
it prolly operates like an sks, pretty neat original design if you look at it from just an outside art perspective
The barrel alignment and weird grip is so it can be used with the animation rig from the civilian AK, most likely.
I'm assuming for the Lost Levels rifle they've ported the Bolt Action Rifle animations, which is why Ellie's handling it like one.

So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese mauser clone.
There are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please gamespot and Johnathan make a video for the game.

I've commented several times that he should do MGS2 & 3. Would also be cool to see how accurate the "weapon/item info" codec calls are with Pliskin/Sigint, respectively. Plus the models are pretty good for their time I'd wager.
17:00 in German hunting law selfloading rifles are only allowed to have 3 rounds loaded, therefor there are a lot of firearm companies offering 2 round mags (+1 in chamber you get the 3).
So so there's a couple things with that.. The first is in America that's just not nearly that.. although California has some interesting laws in that regard, but the other thing is that importing weapons from Germany to America is incredibly complicated and not a thing usually... Basically how we get German guns in quantity is because h&k has distribution and I think manufacturing stateside.. and knows all the right people lol.. but like actual German guns or German variations are rare and usually require purchasing a parts kit and either building it or having it built usually the latter. It's super niche though, usually for iconic military weapons like g36s or you know other video game stuff lol.. I don't see it happening for random hunting rifle very often...?
There's some hunting (only while hunting) shotgun mag restrictions in US, but the plugs are easily removable with only the most basic tools.
@@kanrakucheese some states hunting laws like Michigan and Maine also limit hunting rifles to 5+1, it might be others but those are ones I'm fairly sure of (haven't looked in a while).
Just stick a blocker into the 5rd mag

Hi mr Ferguson, i was the one who ID'd the Taurus on IMFDB, i think that the magazine release near the trigger guard makes it resemble the Taurus more, but i don't think at this point they were going for one or the other, they just wanted to make a legally different 92-series. It''s just a matter of what features anyone thinks matter more in the identification of a specific model.
im gonna need you to ID the Ppsh41 and SA80 in The Sopranos i swore I saw those guns they missed

I've been concealed carrying a Steyr M9-A1 for the past decade and couldn't identify that as being a Steyr M9
Pushing as always for you guys to have Jonathan cover Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and to cover the M8 and MRI Caseless specifically as well.
I have been posting for you to do this in every video a year back now.
What barely makes it into such post apocalypse survival settings are bayonettes it seems, even makeshift ones would probably be better than having to switch from a long barrel rifle to an axe I guess. A really cool idea would be an analysis on the zombie genre in terms of the guns they use or show, like how effective they really would be, how hard finding ammo is etc.
Something I think would be interesting is to cover a game where you make your own guns (e.g. Arcanum), and have Jonathan talk about the accuracy of the manufacturing process.
I’d love to see them cover the futuristic call of duty’s (we all know he would go insane)

I'd love to see Mr. Fergusson review some of the far future cod games, like Infinite Warfare, Advanced Warfare, and Black Ops 3. There's some loosely inspired designs, some original ones, and some weird things like an energy ak in IW or an actuating mag catch in BO3.
AKs woth thumbhole stocks are just cool. Buddy had nice semi auto 10rd one and its really stable once you get ahold of it

yes please, since it's almost criminal that the game with quite a lot more realistic gun handling has not been seen yet in this series, although I do admit that there are not that many firearms in the game, but on the other hand the guns are also more detailed than in most video games.
I do wish someone had pointed out to Jonathon that the Lost Levels rifle was reusing the bolt action’s animations because it was a scraped level and largely was unfinished (so a lot of stuff lacked custom animations), so shouldn’t have been taken at face value.
I’d love to see Jonathan look at the guns and mechanics of Receiver 2!

Was about to compare the Taurus PT92 with my PT92, but I have the AF-D variant, so it's definitely not the same.
In other news..... Y'all should DEFINITELY look at the mostly Swedish firearms from Generation Zero.
Great modeling, great handling, and a few that might hurt Jonathan's head a bit... like a Carl Gustaf M/45 that has a mode to double it's rate of fire, or a Carl Gustaf Recoiless Rifle that fires twice in a burst...
I'd love that. Was a big G0 player for a long while, and I think Jonathan and Medium-sized Dave would have fun with the "legally distinct but functionally pretty good" designs of the guns.

Guns in VR are so cool, the feeling of handling, reloading and shooting, instead of just pressing R and LMB, is just so realistic. Maybe you could take a look at some VR games like Into the Radius or Half Life Alyx? Or maybe the new Metro game when it comes out?
Unfortunately I highly doubt they'll ever do HL:Alyx solo feature, as there are only 3 player used guns. Maybe they can use the Charger's shotgun and thr Suppresor's lmg but that's still 5 weapons total.
They already covered HL:A in their Half-Life video.
Now that it's out I'd love to see Jonathan's thoughts on the guns getting helldivers 2 and maybe as a little look at the stratagems, they are artillery after all, mostly.

Interestingly here in Czechia the law requires that for hunting, a semi-automatic rifle can only use a 2-round magazine. You can use larger magazines for other purposes but you can only hunt with a 2-rounder.
Yeah but that’s a peculiarity of European law. The game takes place in the US. Where anything less than 30 is undesirable and anything less than 10 is heresy.
@@Hellhound23691 Of course it's a peculiarity of European law, that's why I say in which specific country it is the law... And it's pretty weird even in this country, because we don't really do magazine restrictions for anything other than this one, even when the EU wants us to.

Another bit of Glock DNA is the rail seems based on the proprietary Glock rail. On the not-saiga: It would be an interesting balance point to have a manually operated rifle in an intermediate cartridge with a de-riveted mag and support for accessories (e.g., Taipan) versus a semi-auto with a lower capacity, slower reloading integral mag and no/minimal capacity to accept accessories (e.g., SKS). The settings that would be plausible in are relatively low (future Canada) but it would be interesting mechanically.
70th week of asking for episode on Bullet Girls Phantasia. 46th week of asking for Loadout on games (not) keeping track of round in chamber between reloads (something touched on at 10:05 )

That single bullet mag rifle looks like the stevens model 124c but in well rifle caliber it is a straight pull 12 gauge so that’s probably what she’s doing to load the bullet in the chamber
That Kalashnikov rifle is most definitely the Molot Vepr chambered in .308. I instantly recognized this rifle the first time I saw it. I was surprised to see it in a game. I'm also surprised Jonathan didn't mention Molot or Vepr. It's so obvious.

I really hope one day the swedish AG/42b will make an appearance. It's a really unique rifle, and, it's actually my personal hunting rifle and the first rifle I ever got. Mine has a 10 round box mag pinned at 5, but the stock and everything else hasn't been sporterized. I've definitely fallen in love with 6.5x55 too
He talked about The Taurus PT92...The most iconic national made 9x19mm handgun here at Brazil...that was quite unexpected to me!😅

You know what would be a great solution to that? Tape a knife to the end of your rifle so if you have to do hand to hand combat you can keep your distance and have an immediately available weapon…like a bayonet. But, of course, I doubt many random rifles you would find around would have a bayonet.
I think it scraping along the ground of poking around a corner and giving away your position would be worse since its full size rifle

Zombie Army 4. I’m dying for it
It almost certainly wasn't directly inspired by it; but the mystery rifle is almost a dead ringer for the wz. 1938M a Polish self loading rifle made in limited numbers before the war. Most of the details differ, but the silhouette is very reminiscent.

as to the minigame while reloading a bolt action. they should do it like in Skate, only instead of kickflips you'll be operating the bolt (and slides, charging handles etc.) with the right thumbstick.
just on looks alone the M14 has always been my favorite rifle.
The Lost Levels rifle looks like a hunting version of a Remington Model 5 with a squared receiver and it using a single shot bolt action animation
Looks more like the remington model 742 except it has the charging handle of the model 5
I'd like to think that the seamweld on the Steyr M9 is just a thing because American developers can't wrap their heads around polymer pistols. We've seen a few examples of guns in games that should be made from polymer being weathered as though they're made of metal

Most compound crossbows start around 180 pounds of draw weight when it's a direct pull.

11:00 DayZ does that. If you have a gun but no magazin for it, you can single chamber a round. Kind of quirky in an AK or M16

The full-sized magazines holding one or two rounds are so strange. I understand the game play implications, but some effort to make it make sense visually would have helped.
With the post-apocalypse setting, maybe inconsistent round count could have been an option- the idea being that some of the magazines have rusty or defective springs that won't feed under full tension

The weird single shot magazine rifle looks like a Browning BAR (not the M1918, the modern semi auto) with the magazine from an M1918, and the bolt handle from a Remington Model 8. Odd mashup
EDIT: or as someone else pointed out, a Polish WZ38M. That looks more like the in-game gun.
10:45 to me it is the closest to the Polish kbsp Wz 38M. The magazine, frontsight, receiver and the bolt look very similar to me.

one thing I wonder why more games haven't featured is binary triggers. You'd be certain to run into more of those than select fire weapons.

When the apocalypse comes, the local ATF offices are going to be looted and everyone employed there will be utterly destroyed. Not because it will have anything particularly useful/valuable, but because settling scores is one of the first things to happen after law and order breaks down and *nobody* is going to miss the chance to settle *that* score. After that, nobody around to stop conversions.
Of course, the question is that, with ammo factories gone, who is going to make the conversion with any frequency?

Iirc from the first game, the magazine capacity is mostly about weapon improvement progression. You get the shottie and it holds 3 rounds. Fix it up a bit and it can now hold 5. I don't think the magazines are supposed to be fully functional at 1 or 2 rounds, but rather, a sign that she was born after the fall of civilization. Those magazines have been around for ~20 years and seen some hard use, poor maintenance, etc. If it has a dent in it maybe the third round gets stuck or the spring was pulled from an old printer? you make due? Obviously that's a game based explanation for having weapon progression :) Clearly all the magazines wouldn't be exactly the same, but then why would you look around for "mechanical parts" to collect to make them better. So realism/accuracy was sacrificed.

Like the little mini game on gears of war that could let you reload faster and with stronger bullets I think or you’d mess it up and it would take longer

Tbh, mostly mods & weapons in an apocalypse are made of parts & scrap to make it look brand new or improvise.⚒️⚙️
But also in the apocalypse some gunsmiths make different & new firearms even there slight off.

Out of all the canon scenarios they could've chosen for this man to look at (which actually go for realism), they picked one where 80% of what you see are placeholders and another that consists of DLC skins for the fans... Nobody thought that "The Lost Levels" actually consisted of unfinished content and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to bring an expert on?
This remaster of a video has more new content than the actual remaster of the game
The cut content gun at 9:40 is loosely based on the Browning BAR hunting rifle. Of course, the animations are a mess and make no sense.
If I counted the number of serrations correctly the Beretta has 27 and the Taurus 23. I counted from IMFDb for the Taurus. Someone, please confirm I counted correctly if you do not mind.
