Good Morning TBR Family. I want to share commentary from my bibe that is my God shot of the day from 1 John 3: 4-9; "As we honestly reflect on our lives, let's face the essence of sin honestly; It is breaking God's law- doing things our own way rather than God's way. Once we surrender our lives to God, he himself gives us a new nature no longer comfortable with sin. We still sin (1:8), but we no longer make it a practice. We know that our sin was the reason Jesus gave his life on the cross, and our desire is to please him, in accordance with our new nature. Whereas before- in our sins- we continued with little sense of wrong doing, now we know better. This new perspective on sin shows that God is truly at work in our lives ❤🙏

Those who know the Lord will obey His commands and walk in love with one another. Those who do no follow walk in darkness and do not know the truth. The truth is that Jesus Christ came to show us who God is and then became the propitiation (offering, sacrifice) to atone for our sins once and for all. Praise God for His faithfulness! If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1: 9). Praise His holy name!
Conviction that becomes repentance is a hallmark of our walk with the Lord. Amen!

Guard myself from idols…. They are everywhere demanding my attention and pulling me away from His truth. If it is of God it will encourage me to transform into the likeness of Christ. My challenge is to not complicate it.

God is love. He loved us first and sent Jesus as a demonstration of that love.

The command 'do not fear' appears 365 times in the Bible...more than any other command! It's something He really wants us to get!

Just had a conversation about this the other day. I’m glad to be reminded daily. This world can definitely create fear. It’s comforting to know even through the bad, we can trust He’s there for us 🤍

I am almost done reading the whole Bible. Beware of false teachers and idols. Jesus Christ died for our sins so we can overcome evil. We have to abide in God because he abides in us. with Those who are truly in the faith will abide in the faith. I aim to walking in purity now letting God order my steps. Because he is where the joy is 🙌🏽🙌🏽

This brings an even greater understanding of the birth of Christ.
Overwhelmed with gratitude that He loved us so much and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. To God be the glory!!

Be confident in God’s Love, have no fear of punishment, be perfected in His Love.
”There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.“

I John 5:14-15, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us- whatever we ask- we know that we have what we have asked of him."

One could also explain 5:8 this way: it was the Holy Spirit who overshadowed Mary to become pregnant, there is water which breaks at the time of birth (along with blood), and then at his crucifixion there was also water and blood when the soldiers pierced his side, John 19:34.

1 Jn 3:18-“Let us love one another not in word and speech, but in deed and truth,” since (3:17) if we have the “world’s goods” and “close our hearts against a brother in need,” God’s love doesn’t really live in us. This is especially convicting when we have hundreds of migrants in snow covered tents 2 blocks away.

There is only one sin that leads to death....and that is to reject Him and refusing His offer of forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ.

I’m so grateful that God pursued me for salvation in Christ..and that He continues to pursue me EVERYDAY for continual relationship and progressively sanctifying me.🙌🏽 I’m so thankful for His patience and loving kindness towards me. Who am I that He would be mindful of me?! 😭😭Thank You Jesus for Your atoning sacrifice and coming for me..all alone in my car some 20+ years ago. Your pursuit of me was relentless! I would’ve NEVER come on my own. I can never repay You.. but as I stumble as I walk in the truth of Your commands..You still see me and help me to shine brighter for Your glory. I wish I could be perfect I’m my walk, but I can rest assured that the One who IS perfect has taken my place. Taking the wrath of God..on a sinners cross for me😭🙌🏽 He has me until the end, never leaving or forsaking, HELPING me endure til the end. Thank You SO much Lord Jesus🙌🏽♥️
To whoever stayed in my ramblings I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas, beholding Him!🎄 May our faith continue to grow in the coming New Year❤

(🤫 First, allow me to whisper a "word to the wise" in your ear: If you really want to know the meaning of 1 John 5:16-17, read either _A More Excellent Way: Be in Health_ or _Exposing the Spiritual Roots of Disease_ by Dr. Henry Wright. The truth he reveals in these books is a literal lifesaver, but unfortunately not every Christian will accept it.)
Anyway, to answer your question more directly, John is saying the same thing here that Jesus says later in Revelation 2:22 - some will be thrown into a sickbed and he will kill them. It's the same in 1 Corinthians 11 - many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. As a Christian, you can commit sin that will make you physically ill, and if you persist too long, God will end your life here on earth. If you are a born-again believer and you persist in unrepentant sin, there's a limit to how long God will let you misrepresent him. What many call "untimely deaths" are actually the Lord taking home a believer that would not repent of their sin. It's a very sobering thought. You can pray for someone who's a little bit in error that God will correct them and heal them. But when a Christian is persistently sinning and won't listen, God's not going to hear your prayer for them to not die. It's a sin that leads to death. I can tell you this: The sins of bitterness and unforgiveness have killed many a Christian. I'll just leave it at that. 😢
