How can we show love? God is love and we are called, first and foremost, to LOVE.
We are to love not only in our speech, but in and through our actions and to speak TRUTH. What is true anymore? Amidst all the false science, fake news and changing opinions of people, we have the TRUTH! We have the Bible, we have the unchanged Word of God. We know our path, to be light and salt. To LOVE one another.
"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
    1 John 3:17-18 NIV

It all just hits so differently. That prayer, “Show me something new I’ve never seen before,” and “correct any lies or misunderstandings I have,” and, “give me wisdom, knowledge and understanding,” praise Him for answering these daily prayers as I open His word! They’re so powerful.
I have been doing TBR for 725 days now. I’ve done countless studies before and have always loved, LOVED being in the Word. A friend’s sister says her biggest memory of me from high school was always carrying a big study Bible. She’s not wrong! Haha! And the more I read, the more I want to! But it wasn’t until just this year, these past few months, where words are just jumping off the pages and neon lights are flashing before me. It’s so exciting and incredible to be reading “the same old thing” in such new ways! It’s living, breathing, active! Never changing but always growing me!
This book is so full. I love, love the dedication to reinforcing who Jesus is and how we can have confidence in Him, how we can abide in Him and confess our sins to Him because He knows it anyway and has set us free from its bondage.
The reminders to love. We love because He first loved us. Let us love one another because love is of God. God is love. There is no fear in love, perfect love casts out fear. We must love our brother if we claim to love God. He who abides in love abides in God and God in him. His commandment is that we love one another. It is imperative that we love others.
Love, love, love. This reminds me that my heart has no room for hate or unforgiveness, no room for bitterness or grudges. If Christ is in me the way I know He is, my heart must be full of love. Although my heart should be full of love, my heart and actions don’t always look or sound like that’s the truth and I’m so thankful for the fact that I can repent and He continues to work in me. I see my rebound time getting much quicker and my tongue (although much slower than I’d like) becoming more tame (some days).
Friends, I pray that we would continue to work towards knowing Him more and more each day, loving bigger and better, kneeling before our Savior and King, resting in His love for us. I’m so grateful that TLC and TBR team will continue to walk alongside me in this journey and that I get to learn and grow in my faith, knowledge, understanding, and wisdom with you all. Have a blessed day!

Guard myself from idols…. They are everywhere demanding my attention and pulling me away from His truth. If it is of God it will encourage me to transform into the likeness of Christ. My challenge is to not complicate it.

“We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
    ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬
It is on this Christmas Day that I wish to share this verse (probably the most famous verse in the Bible) with y’all. I love this verse so much because I feel that it almost perfectly encapsulates and summarizes the whole Bible, highlighting the extreme and unfathomable love God had for his children and his extreme desire to have a connection with them.
On this Christmas Day I think it is extremely important to spend time with family but also extremely important to give thanks and praise to the one true God for his birth, grace, love, sacrifice, and resurrection. God bless y’all today and pray that you and your families have a blessed winter✝️💪.

Those who know the Lord will obey His commands and walk in love with one another. Those who do no follow walk in darkness and do not know the truth. The truth is that Jesus Christ came to show us who God is and then became the propitiation (offering, sacrifice) to atone for our sins once and for all. Praise God for His faithfulness! If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1: 9). Praise His holy name!
Conviction that becomes repentance is a hallmark of our walk with the Lord. Amen!

Good Morning TBR Family. I want to share commentary from my bibe that is my God shot of the day from 1 John 3: 4-9; "As we honestly reflect on our lives, let's face the essence of sin honestly; It is breaking God's law- doing things our own way rather than God's way. Once we surrender our lives to God, he himself gives us a new nature no longer comfortable with sin. We still sin (1:8), but we no longer make it a practice. We know that our sin was the reason Jesus gave his life on the cross, and our desire is to please him, in accordance with our new nature. Whereas before- in our sins- we continued with little sense of wrong doing, now we know better. This new perspective on sin shows that God is truly at work in our lives ❤🙏

I am almost done reading the whole Bible. Beware of false teachers and idols. Jesus Christ died for our sins so we can overcome evil. We have to abide in God because he abides in us. with Those who are truly in the faith will abide in the faith. I aim to walking in purity now letting God order my steps. Because he is where the joy is 🙌🏽🙌🏽

One could also explain 5:8 this way: it was the Holy Spirit who overshadowed Mary to become pregnant, there is water which breaks at the time of birth (along with blood), and then at his crucifixion there was also water and blood when the soldiers pierced his side, John 19:34.

1 Jn 3:18-“Let us love one another not in word and speech, but in deed and truth,” since (3:17) if we have the “world’s goods” and “close our hearts against a brother in need,” God’s love doesn’t really live in us. This is especially convicting when we have hundreds of migrants in snow covered tents 2 blocks away.

John repeats himself A LOT. My former pastor, Berry Norwood told us that, according to research, it takes seven good things to counter-act a bad thing. Or seven attempts to accomplish anything. Walt Disney tried seven times to come up with a comic character before he was successful with Steamboat Willy, the forerunner of Mickey Mouse. So, maybe John is repeating himself so that readers would finally get it: Obedience to God's commandments is righteousness and loving others is a COMMAND.

I’m so grateful that God pursued me for salvation in Christ..and that He continues to pursue me EVERYDAY for continual relationship and progressively sanctifying me.🙌🏽 I’m so thankful for His patience and loving kindness towards me. Who am I that He would be mindful of me?! 😭😭Thank You Jesus for Your atoning sacrifice and coming for me..all alone in my car some 20+ years ago. Your pursuit of me was relentless! I would’ve NEVER come on my own. I can never repay You.. but as I stumble as I walk in the truth of Your commands..You still see me and help me to shine brighter for Your glory. I wish I could be perfect I’m my walk, but I can rest assured that the One who IS perfect has taken my place. Taking the wrath of God..on a sinners cross for me😭🙌🏽 He has me until the end, never leaving or forsaking, HELPING me endure til the end. Thank You SO much Lord Jesus🙌🏽♥️
To whoever stayed in my ramblings I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas, beholding Him!🎄 May our faith continue to grow in the coming New Year❤

(🤫 First, allow me to whisper a "word to the wise" in your ear: If you really want to know the meaning of 1 John 5:16-17, read either _A More Excellent Way: Be in Health_ or _Exposing the Spiritual Roots of Disease_ by Dr. Henry Wright. The truth he reveals in these books is a literal lifesaver, but unfortunately not every Christian will accept it.)
Anyway, to answer your question more directly, John is saying the same thing here that Jesus says later in Revelation 2:22 - some will be thrown into a sickbed and he will kill them. It's the same in 1 Corinthians 11 - many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. As a Christian, you can commit sin that will make you physically ill, and if you persist too long, God will end your life here on earth. If you are a born-again believer and you persist in unrepentant sin, there's a limit to how long God will let you misrepresent him. What many call "untimely deaths" are actually the Lord taking home a believer that would not repent of their sin. It's a very sobering thought. You can pray for someone who's a little bit in error that God will correct them and heal them. But when a Christian is persistently sinning and won't listen, God's not going to hear your prayer for them to not die. It's a sin that leads to death. I can tell you this: The sins of bitterness and unforgiveness have killed many a Christian. I'll just leave it at that. 😢
