When you watch the movie that TLC recommends, “Paul, Apostle of Christ,” there’s an emotionally overwhelming scene when Luke delivers the news to the imprisoned Christians that tomorrow, they’ll be thrust into the Coliseum to be put to death. This is what God chose for them: to be faithful unto death. Paul says the same for himself as he is about to lose his life at the hand of Nero: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful” (2 Tim 4:7). And I remember how my daughter never blamed God for the losses she was given, and the mind she had that tortured herself. She remained faithful. Enduring persecution, mental illness, and facing death-that is how “the Lord will deliver us safely into His kingdom” (2 Tim 4:18). It doesn’t sound safe, does it? Remember Narnia’s Mr. Beaver’s description of the Christ-like Aslan? “He’s not a safe lion, but he is good.” We saw yesterday in Heb 11 how the faithful endure the worst life can offer, and they were “brought safely” into the Kingdom. How is this “safe”? Because this is “the God’s plan from before the beginning of time, to show us His grace through Christ Jesus” (2 Tim 1:9). Jesus “breaks the power of death and illuminates the way to life and immortality” (2 Tim 1:10)! He is Light and in Him there is no darkness. Not the fear of death, nor the fear of death’s separation and meaninglessness. We are brought safely home-not just then, but now, in our hopes and our spirits, given a peace that passes understanding and knows that death doesn’t have the final word because it isn’t final. Jesus illuminates the path home, even today.

My God shot today was in 2:15-"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth."
We are called to be doers of the Word, not just hearers, not just readers, but doers. ❤

Timothy 2 At the end of Paul’s final epistle in verse 19 he writes, “Give my greetings to Priscilla and Aquila and those living in the household of Onesiphorus.” But these aren’t the only names he mentions. Paul may be coming to the end of his life and ministry, at the end of the race, but he has so much to show for it. Churches and believers all across the Roman and Greek world owe their salvation to his ministry. And beyond, to us today, we owe that same debt to him and those that followed him for carrying on the Good news through both space and time.

First time I literally cried for a man in the bible.
TLC nailed it when she said we may be sad or miss Paul with it being his last letter. This chapter hits home. I'm praising God for the gift of His Word this Christmas, and for all Paul has done .

We are going through revitalization as a church, as well. I’m praying that reading the Word together will open our spiritual eyes and ears to know what God has in store for our church’s future.

“Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.”
    ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬
This verse stood out to me today because it highlights how strong Paul’s faith is in God and how we all ought to act when in times of trouble or turmoil. Paul seems to be in a pretty precarious situation when writing this letter, but yet his faith remains strong in the only one who can truly protect him…God. There have been multiple moments in my life in which I feel lost, hopeless, or scared of the future yet I find that I when I praise God and trust and his plan that without fail every time he will deliver me and free me from this pain and all the while have it work for his greater plan purpose. Our God is so wise beyond belief and so loving beyond belief and what this verse does, is remind me to live my life with a confidence that no matter what situation I find myself in that I should act like Paul and remain faithful, and the one who truly is in control… God. I pray today that we can all act like Paul and put our trust in the one true God now and forever. God bless all of you today. 💪✝️

2 Tim 2:13, "If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself. " Regardless of our faith, He is still faithful because it is who He is, His character. This is so comforting.
2Tim 2:22, ..."pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace"... These are good pursuits and ones we, as Christ followers, ought to strive for.

Preach the word (2 Timothy 4: 2). All of scripture is God-breathed and given to us for teaching, reproof, correction, and to train up others in righteousness, and to equip us in doing every good work (2 Timothy 3: 16-17). Let us not be ashamed of the gospel, which the Lord has entrusted to every believer not because we deserved it, but because of His grace (2 Timothy 1: 8-9). And, we can walk in boldness because the Lord did not give us a spirit of fear. He gave us His Spirit, which allows us to walk in power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1: 7). I love 1: 8-9 because it is a call to all believers to not be ashamed of the gospel. We have been called to a holy calling. Paul's life was such a great example of fighting the good fight of faith. He ran his race well for the Lord despite everything he went through.
Thank You, Lord, that You guard Your chosen people to live for You before others and be a witness of Your faithfulness. Help me to flee freshly desires and pursue righteousness.

I reread 1:7 & know that I must move forward with sharing the word. Pray for me. The fact that I’m a shy person to begin with doesn’t help my case…..

2 Tim 2:4 shows us how God thinks of our position towards Him and building His kingdom: it’s not part time, or an interest, or an aspect of our lives. It’s our identity that demands a fulfillment of duty in living so that we don’t love the world (1 Jn 2:15-16), but obey His new commandment, to love one another (Jn 13:34-35).

    2 Timothy 1:7 NIV
is what stood out to me today.
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
God gave me a spirit of power, love and self discipline. Thanks be to God! I am encouraged by evidence of this in my life, and also thank God that He will guide my actions to reflect these qualities even more, the more I chooseto allowHim to guide me. God, I know you want this for me, and I want these qualities strengthened in me for Your Glory! Thank you for the Joy You bring us! God, thank you for being such a good God. In Jesus name, Amen.

I finished book 60th book so exciting. Paul is in prison for spreading the gospel. God did not give us a spirit of fear it of power and joy and self control. We are in to share in suffering. God does not want us to give up he wants us to spread the gospel and not get wrapped up in false teachings. We have to serve God with patience not getting in arguments do things with patience. Beware of false teachers. Scripture helps us gain wisdom. We are complete by the works of God. His word is of grace and wisdom. He is where the joy is. 🙌🏽🙌🏽

    2 Timothy‬ ‭2:21‭-‬26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
[21] If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. [22] Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. [23] Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. [24] A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. [25] Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. [26] Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.

Can someone explain "All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching" the Bible wasn't canonized yet, did Paul know it would be? What scripture is he talking about? We always refer to the Bible naturally when reading this, but the Bible didn't exist yet. Was he talking about Jewish scripture?
