  • Demonstration of how to easily cut Unitrack to custom lengths for a clean almost seamless look.
    Edit: Just to be fair, I think I originally learned this from Mike Fifer's channel. Thanks Mike! His 'unitrack to flex track' video can be found here: • How to Make N Scale Ka...

    This is a well done video. I love how the completed section was a little short, but you corrected the problem with patch. This happens all the time on a project and one just has to deal with it as you did.

    My Layout ended up needing a 7 inch and 25/32 piece. You just saved me a ton of relaying.

    Thanks for the inspiration. Looking at your assembly of short pieces I recommend to use longer pieces to minimize the amount of joiners. Every joiner is an option for derailment. I speak out of experience.

    That’s brilliant. I never realized how limiting this track is until I tried to make curved sections in a 4’ t trak module

    Nicely done. I doubt anyone would be able to pick where the modification was made unless they saw it being carried out. It's good to know that the part requiring the work was so forgiving i.e it didn't fracture or warp. I'll now have greater confidence to do the same myself, should it become necessary to do so... Thankyou.

    Good job, this is exactly how I customise my Kato. The only thing I would have done differently: I would have cut down a single length of stock track [124mm] to fill the space in one and avoided having the extra set of track joiners in the section.

    It seems like it would also be possible to make custom-angle curved sections, though it might require a jig to hold the track perpendicular to the miter box.

    I've cut Unitrack too, pretty easy to do! I've also cut the plastic ballast down to make the awkward piece needed for the 481 points.

    I've been doing this for years with Bachmann EZ Track. I do it with curved sections as well.

    Is your concrete patch special for modelling, or is it regular concrete patch used for patios, driveways, etc.?

  • @uprailman
    @uprailman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, I too having problems with a layout plan that doesn't conform to KATO booklet plans and since being free form I need to do some of these adjustments as Kato doesn't make every piece needed. A 381 414 double track super elevated 45' One can't find a section of it in flat track. just the easements.and so I get derailments. due to the shape of my layout needing those 22.5' flat pieces not made.Thumbs up.

    This is a great tutorial, and I really don't mean to criticize, but my only problem is I can't understand half of what you're saying. Talking to yourself with a mic present isn't the same as talking clearly into a mic. Normally, I wouldn't complain, but it's frustrating because I'm trying to understand what you're doing.
