Wow that's so helpful, I'd worked out something similar involving dremel filing some plastic off the back, but your system with the paste is brilliant, thanks for sharing 👍👍

Great video - and looks easily like the best solution! Also thanks for the 'straw-in-the-hole' tip - love that.

    Great technique.
I'm going to try it out myself

Very nice video. It's probably the best connection you could make to a Kato track. All the others that I've seen wouldn't last as long as yours.
GreatJob! I'm just starting to put my track together. I'm sure this will work just fine. Thanks again for the demonstration. Mark G.

Well as much as I wanted to learn this and save some money, I can't do it. I made the little right hook on the ends of the wire, but could never get a large solder blob on the end of the wire, using plenty of flux paste! I then got one wire to get some solder but when I tried to solder the wire like in your video it burned a hole in the track and never could get it to solder. 2-3 seconds max.
My soldering iron is a cheap one, but it works, I burned my fingers 3 times! LoL! I 'm using tinned 22G solid wire. I guess soldering is just not for me. I can't imagine trying to do this under a Grid or table.

The procedure can only be done on the bench and you need a magnifier at least. Maybe try a better, smaller soldering iron and try a different brand of wire. Also dip the hook into the soldering paste. You should be able to get a tiny blob on the hook.

    Hi
I learned a lot from your video
    I am a total newbe
Does it matter which side of the track is red or black wire?
Also as a starter can I already buy this pre down and if so can you please share a link

No it does not matter as long as you are consistent. Black on the same rail on each piece of track. I do not of any tracl that is sold that is pre-done

I solder the feeders to the bus

      Good morning,
      What is the "bus"?
      Thanks in advance, 🇨🇦 🍻 🙏

Why do you Tin the hooked ends, when the wire your using and suggesting is already tinned?

    • @PracticalEngineeringSolutions
      @PracticalEngineeringSolutions  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The tinning on the wire is a thin coating and not enough to stick the wire to the rail. So I put a small blob on the wire.

Ok 👍 how do you crbbfcybyour feeders to the bus do you solder again? Or use suitcase connectors?
