I will definitely try to get to The Night Circus this year. Has been on my TBR for a while. My top reads of 2015 were: Someone Else's Life, Time Between Us, The Catastrophic History of You and Me, Ten Things We Did (and probably shouldn't have), White Oleander, The Corner of Bitter and Sweet, The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Lightning Thief, Mr. Mercedes, The Stepford Wives, Gone Girl, and Let It Snow.
My favourite book series that I read in 2015 is A Daughter Of Smoke And Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor. My favourite single book of 2015 (the rest of the series hasn't released yet) was The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury. I think you'd like The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness as I believe it has the same sort of feel that The Night Circus has. I have friends that have read both who tell me this. I still need to read The Night Circus (I WILL buy it in 2016!) but The All Souls Trilogy is my favourite series EVER!
Love this video! I also love the Series of Unfortunate Events and City of Heavenly Fire. I enjoyed Crown of Midnight as well and I definitely need to read the illustrated Harry Potter! You’ve definitely convinced me to check out The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender, Aristotle and Dante, and the Night Circus!
I only read Aristotle and Dante this year and it's also one of my favourites and after that I read Simon vs. The Homo Sapien Agenda and I love Aristotle and Dante alot more, it was just so...aaah, I can't it's just beautiful.
Ava Lavender is wonderful! So glad it made your favorites of 2015. I'm currently reading A Series of Unfortunate Events... A little late to the party but I'm enjoying it :) Happy New Year!
It makes me so happy to see other people talking about SAGA - it's definitely one of my favorite books ever (and I did start reading it in 2015 as well), and I just really want more people to read it :D
My top 5 books of this last year are 1) Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin 2)Ravens Gate by Anthony Horowitz 3) Looking Glass Girl by Cathy Cassidy (re telling of Alice in Wonderland modern era ) 4) Gone by Michael Grant 5) Me and Earl and the dying girl... Honourable mentions : Artichoke Hearts by Sita Brahmachari , secret of the sirens -Julia Golding and Magnus Chase and The Sword of Summer! ( I hope you put these on your TBR because the are amazing books and they are a range of Fantasy , sci fi, Historic Fiction and comtemp! )
I'm a new subscriber and appreciate your videos! I am a Hemingway fan. He is a master of his craft. I'm currently writing my undergraduate thesis about his portrayal of women in his short stories. The Sun Also Rises is my favorite Hemingway novel. The Old Man and the Sea is excellent and A Farewell to Arms is fantastic, too. I've added Saga and Station Eleven to my TBR. :)
YES CROWN OF MIDNIGHT, TEAM CHAOL FOREVER. I fell off my couch reading it omg. I'm so glad you liked Ari and Dante because I just pulled it out of my TBR jar! All the best with your reading and everything else in 2016!
Love your videos, you do such a great job as articulating your thoughts over each book that you sell me on every book you talk about. I highly recommend More Happy Than Not, The Sin-Eater's Daughter, Mosquitoland and anything by Nova Ren Suma. Those made my 2015 favorites video, they were all beautifully done.
+Chelsea Palmer I've been wanting to read More Happy Than Not for a while now, so I'm glad to hear it made it in your favorites! Thank you so much for all the recommendations!!
I would recommend Of Mice and Men by Jonh Steinbeck it is a classic written during 1920s/30s America, it focuses on migrant workers and their treatment and just society at the time looking at the affects of the Great Depression. It starts in this utopia-ish forest and follows these two migrant workers George and Lennie who are currently on the run from the town they used to work at because of something Lennie did and they are trekking through this forest to their new job. There is a lot of symbolism in this book and I think it would be something you would enjoy. Lennie himself is mentally disabled though the exact disease isn't clear, this story looks into the treatment of people like him and other minorities at the time such as black people, women and such and looks into social hierarchy at the time
Oh, Station Eleven was brilliant! I really liked it a lot, even though it also gave me a bit of anxiety thinking about how this could possibly be the future of the world. And Harry Potter! Crown of Midnight! I'm very pleased to see both made your list :) I'm still planning on reading The Night Circus this year! I hope I love it as much as you do.
yessss to the illustrated edition of Harry Potter, it's so gorgeous. Each time you mention the Night Circus it reminds me of how much I need to read it asap! Happy New Year. :)
I've been looking for a booktuber with a similar book taste as mine for a while and when you said the Night Circus was your favourite book ever I knew I had to subscribe. :)
YES, YES, YES to all that saying about The Night Circus. She 's working on an new book I have to say that an update has been a while. What i do know is that her next project ' That not-yet-a-novel' is not a circus sequel but a new thing. The Night Circus turned 5 this year ^_^
When you said 13 books, I automatically knew it was Series of Unfortunate Events. I started reading these in 3'd grade but am planning to buy the whole series so I can read them again.
I love your channel!!! Could you do a Q&A anytime soon? I was just wondering if you have any tips for book tubers who just started because I just filmed my first video and am about to edit!!!
+queenofthebookjungle I am not her but as a viewer, I can say that I love booktubers who don't follow trends and show books that are not so popular on booktube. Also, just be yourself, don't copy anyone else. :) love your username!
Thank you, that means so much! I don't really have plans for a Q&A very soon but I'm thinking about doing a whole video on starting a booktube channel because a few people have asked me this same question. But honestly my best advice is to make videos you enjoy making, whether they be the popular videos that others are making or your own original ideas. I know that's very cliché and you've probably heard it before but I feel like that's the most important thing. Plus this community is so kind and welcoming and the people here are so supportive. I hope this helped at least a little bit, but if you would like me to go into some more tips that I have then I'm open to making a video about it!
+A Clockwork Reader do u have any tips on growing ur channel? Subscribers aren't everything but it feels so discouarging when u put hours of time and effort into something for just 10 ppl to watch it and no comments.
These are my top 10 for 2015 Ugly love - Colleen Hoover Stolen - Lucy Christopher My Dear Bessie: a love story and letters - Chris Barker Attachments - Rainbow Rowell To kill a mockingbird - Harper Lee An ember in the ashes - Sabaa Tahir Rainfall - Melissa Delport Slammed - Colleen Hoover All thelight we cannot see - Anthony Doerr The Gracekeepers - Kirsty Logan
I keep hearing about the Throne of Glass series but I'm always deterred from reading them because of the hideous covers ... they convey to me the spirit of a book that I really wouldn't enjoy. Maybe one day I'l get past that and give them a chance anyway because people keep recommending it...
