I haven't ironed them, so that's the best solution to smooth them. i will try with red onions and beet that I have today. And the sheep are adorable! you've made my day! thank you so much. Loving statistics, I think that everyone should have charts with the variables! I will have to re watch this video, stopping and starting, So that I can compile a brief synopsis of eco items used, the quantities that you combined, mordants added, various paper types, results, etc. Seriously, it would take less time to do so that to replicate your experiment (and results) would take! Hahahahahaha Thank you so much for not only doing the work, but for sharing it. I know that I do not have some of the papers that you have. TFS, again and again!

I love the country cuteness! So sweet. The birds chirping and singing was wonderful to hear. Are the sheep yours? How fun. Love the results of your eco dying experiments.

Thanks Susan, its a lovely sound isn’t it. The sheep are not ours, but they are in the field at the bottom of our garden so we get to admire them every day 💕

Fascinating! thank you so much for sharing your "recipes". Looking forward to trying these. I just did some (much more ordinary) tea dyeing today; I experimentally used my food dryer. My food dryer is rectangular, with 12 shelves, so I put the soaked papers (copy paper size) two to a wire shelf somewhat overlapped sideways; put it on lowest setting for an hour. Worked brilliantly. Put some others into my oven on lowest setting for well over an hour on a baking tray, would probably still be waiting hours later, so they went into the food dryer too. So if you have a food dryer with rectangular type arrangement, it works very well. The overlapping didn't cause any issues; you can rearrange them to get the overlapped bit dry half way through. P.S. the dried papers have very little patterning to them, but that's what I wanted.

Ooh, I will have to look out for a food dryer. I wonder if I can get one on Marketplace. Off to take a look 💕

@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia I've got a Sahara brand (can dial down the temp and set to high/low for air flow) but I'd imagine any dryer with rectangular shape would work, because they're A. cheaper to run B. Way less likely to catch fire and C. Very quick. Which meant for me (no place to just air dry wet papers) I could actually try all these great paper dyeing techniques at last. Just be mindful opening the trays when the paper has dried, because it naturally curls up a bit.

What a fabulous effect and I have to say I loved your woolly friends at the end of the video. We live in the country too and our back garden often looks like the holding pen for the extras in water ship down. Although I wish the rabbits could distinguish between lawn and vegetable patch 🥴 Thanks again for suggesting this technique think I’m off to see what gems I can make from rhubarb leaves.

Fun! I have done a lot of eco printing leaves last year as well as making many eco dyes for dyeing blown out eggz last year. I enjoy the process of experimentation. I made a acocado dye they other day ( it is in my fridge) simmered for hours and a bit darker than yours. I will be playing this week. May add a mordant or modifier. ( I have iron and copper solutions). Fun!!

Well, that was fun! As soon as I saw your papers spread out over the lawn I immediately thought, "I couldn't do that! All my paper would wind up in the next county", as it generally is quite breezy around here! I really like the way the iron worked with your dyes. I suggest that you get yourself some hibiscus flower tea and try that out. When you get it really strong it looks quite red but makes a beautiful blue dye. I don't know what it would do with Iron or Tannin in it. Mordants are quite amazing. I used to dye wool, and there are some amazing gorgeous colors that come from lichens, especially seaside lichens -- golds and reds and browns. Thanks for sharing this, Nina. Such a fun video.

Thanks Ellie, glad you enjoyed it. I have quite a few herbal teas in the cupboard that I want to try and I think I still have some hibiscus flowers, as I added them to the papers I made a couple of years ago, so it would be interesting to try it as a plain paper dye. The weather is picking up again this week and I am itching to get back outside to play some more! Have a super week. I’m really enjoying seeing the progress you are making in your garden 💕

So cool! I just dyed papers with my step-daughter using old herbal teas from a sampler. Great way to spend time during quarantine. Next time will be avocados and maybe purple cabbage, or CoolAid, we'll see. I'll add vinegar, but will wait on the alum, she's still young. Thank you for the ideas and experimentation!

Lovely colours and patterns there. I dry my papers in the oven, watching to make sure they don't over dry or they wrinkle too much. The paper I think you are talking about is Khadi - pronunced cardy, it had nice texture usually.

These eco papers are lovely. I learned so many tips and tricks. I have wondered how they were made flat thanks for sharing your ironing tip. I have never tried this with paper But yellow onions give a beautiful red color to do eggs. 7 onion skins will give 18 brown eggs a beautiful red eggs. You add the vinegar to the onion skins as well.
