Oh Nina ... I’ve never been so delighted to weald an iron ! I found some beautiful celestial maps and vintage botanical prints and they look stunning. Supper might be late again tonight ....
Haha I was yelling no no,pick that paper. Lol such beautiful papers and such fun. New subbie from this...love it and omg that was a wonderful experiment. I adore vellum paper and I will be buying that iron and candles...how fun this was. I'm so amazed. I was sittin in my chair screaming.
Thanks so much for your lovely comment Marlene. I love how the vellum looks in projects and its lovely to be able to make my own designs. Happy Creating 💕
I love this diy vellum paper! It seemed like every one you did got better and better. I think my favorite was your collage paper. It comes out so clear, and the vintage look is gorgeous. I can’t wait to see more of these lovely journals! 😘
Good morning nina, did not know you could make paper transparent in such an easy way, I am going to try this today, since it is a grey morning with rain( wich by the way makes my garden sing) Do I like your journals...I do.. like you saud, the simplicity makes them beautiful. What came to my mind was to fill them with poems , so you see, the journals speak to me, thank you for the inspiration you gave me today, have a good week, stay safe and see you next sunday again . Love lena xxx
Hello Lena. I have tried making velum before using baby oil, and it was horribly greasy. Then I saw Eva from Bohemian crafting make it a few elks ago using furniture wax. Unfortunately this method didn’t work for me as my wax has turpentine in it and the smell was too overpowering. I loved how translucent my papers had become when I tried my hand at encaustic earlier on the year and that was what gave me the idea to use beeswax and candles. I just love how these papers turned out. I like the idea of adding poems to the one journal, and I may just do that 💕. Stay safe and have a wonderful week 💕 xxxx
Lovely. Do you ever see a technique you love, but can't imagine using in your own work? But it's always good to know in case you should have a place it becomes the way to go. I do love the effect, however.
This technique is so intriguing! I didn't know you could make your own vellum paper, but now I have to try it. It's so creative when you use your own papers, too. Thanks, Nina. I love your channel.

I saw people using baby oil which was also effective but when I tried and put against other papers the oil leached out. I am sure the wax wont do that. I love your style and presentation.

Wow! Just wow. What a great way to change the papers and your journals are looking great. Don’t be so hard on yourself about the sewing, I thought it was totally in keeping with the pocket! Have a good week Nina, stay safe 💕💫
I’m so pleased with the results. I tried making vellum a long time ago using baby oil, but the pages were much too greasy and didn’t really dry out properly. I don’t think I will ever be able to sew in a straight line 😂💕
Thank you so much Nina, I really really love 💕 the pure simplicity of those gorgeous and stunning journals, the waxing of those papers is really really helpful and useful too. Thank you so much Maggie. I’m not very good at sewing in a straight line. Alex’s sewing is so straight and beautiful. He makes it look so easy, but that silly phobia of mine is still lurking!
