During the religious persecution in Ireland ,when Priests were hunted down and killed ,and the people were deprived of Mass, the Rosary is what kept the Faith alive ,it was called The Dry Mass.
A Dry Mass is actually a different devotion, which involves saying the prayers of the Mass except for the offertory and Canon. Certainly, the Rosary was also crucial in maintaining the faith in times of persecution.
And as a result d faith thrived in Ireland for so long.sadly when TV came d family rosary was dropped,d faith weakened continually and was climaxed in recent years with d introduction of abortion and one sex so called marriage.what now for our little country once so missionary but hardship, doom.Ireland needs much much prefer.

Actually the original Hail Mary was the second part only. Then the angelic salutation was added. The Holy Name of Jesus was also added some time later. So the Hail Mary actually changed over time to what it is now. These changes were ratified by Church Authorities whose authority Our Lady respects (which is why she always told visionaries to go to their priests or bishops (St Bernadette, Fatima, Juan Diego etc). So please don’t think the rosary just dropped down from heaven as is and that humans can’t be led by the Holy Spirit to help put these things together (the holy bible is a case in point) Even the beautiful decade prayer ‘Oh my Jesus’ was added after 1917. And regarding historical proof of Mary even non-Christian historians of Jesus’ time acknowledge her in their ancient writings so claiming she didn’t exist is simply ridiculous. And pointless.
Hail Mary full of grace is in the bible for those born again Christians who only believe in sol scripture ,which the holy bible never says sol scripture but says oral tradition also...ave maria!!! That's not brain washed that being humble because jesus honors thy mother otherwise he would break his commandment and be a sinner..god the father created her to be his daughter, the holy spirit chose her to be his spouse, and jesus could of come in any fashion he chose but chose blessed mary as his mother...and mary said YES!!!
Do you mean 150 Angelic Salutations that in St. Dominic's days went liked this "Hail Mary full of Grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst woman." No Holy Name of Jesus, no Paters, Glorias nor credo and no beads. That's how Our Lady gave St. Dominic Her prayer.
Im 62 I’m a Catholic convert from the Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. I converted in 2010. I was a college freshman when I went to see Pope John Paul ll speak during his visit to Philadelphia back in 1980. I still remember his sermon on morality. I will say this concerning the Rosary. Popes are elected according to the Holy Spirit and whatever they decree on matters of faith is divine guidance from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and is God Himself also. Therefore, if a change was made to the Rosary by the Pope, it was made under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Such was the case if the addition of the Luminous Mysteries. I see nothing wrong with such a change. With all due respect to Blessed Mother Mary, God is still allowed to will as He pleases.
God bless! My wife ,who passed away two months ago, and I love to hear this priest. She would perk up when we brought up a video and heard his voice! Thank you! Ave Maria! X3
❤ this is so sweet. thanks for sharing. ave maria ~ praying for the eternal repose of your wife’s soul and you as her husband the custodian of her memory. God bless~•
Our Lady said to pray the rosary DAILY!! Should any darre ignore or refuse to do so, with the excuse that it has not been mandated 'dogmatically'? The Virgin Mary said that in these latter days, the Rosary would have even more power. so let's get those beads and PRAY, PRAY. and PRAY some more!!!
I find it hard to meditate throughout the whole rosary but for some reason I still get the blessings of it. I don’t know if it’s my Intellect or will but please pray for me I want to be a better son better follower of Christ.
It's not the perfection of your action that God wants but the use of your God given "free will" to "act" in a manner that is pleasing to Him regardless of its imperfections. It's pleasing to God to see that you're willing to try over and over again until you get it right just to make it right for Him. Love is truly measured in your actions. "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you." So do it; keep asking God in humble prayers everyday and one day it will be given to you. Believe as you pray. PAX 🕊🙏
@@johnsposato5632The meditations on the mysteries are such a gift. Not only does reading the meditations prevent distraction while praying the Holy Rosary, but the meditations, in and of themselves, provide such a deep, rich and humbling account of the Life, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Our LORD and Savior. Prior to being aware that meditations on the mysteries even existed, I merely recited the Rosary, often considering it a chore. Now I can hardly wait to pray the Rosary because the meditations make the mysteries come alive. In the live chat of the Rosary that I follow on this platform, one of the prayer warriors types out the meditation for each mystery of the Rosary, for which I'm so grateful.
It's something I remembered to do again, how my mom taught us to recite the rosary. For example - "Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus (who was crucified for us) (whom thee gavest birth to) etc. So, there right after "Jesus" insert the mystery being recited and finish with the rest of the Hail Mary, for all the mysteries. It may seem longer, but your rosary will seem to be more fruitful because even how should I put it, quicker, because you'll know which mystery it is at every Hail Mary, even if you don't have a rosary in hand, at times. You'll remember which mystery you're at, making praying the rosary so much more attentive, more fruitful. Thanks mom.
Very interesting. I always thought it was awkward to skip around days like that, but that is the way I was taught. I'm learning so much from the sermons and talks on this channel. Thank you so much!
Adding the luminous mysteries also makes it harder for people to pray ALL mysteries at once - it encourages the disjointed separated mysteries throughout the week which is a totally different experience. Once you pray all 3 mysteries in one day you’ll realize that this is how it was intended to be prayed. When they’re separated throughout the week, you don’t see how they all go together. Praying all 3 will deepen your appreciation of the Rosary and YES it’s about the rhythm of human life
Yes I like to pray all four mysteries daily. So beautiful to include Our Lords public ministery, in the rosary, we can meditate on the fuller picture of His Life. I thank the Most Holy Ghost and the Most holy Virgin Mary for inspiring St JPII to give us this beautiful addition to our Holy prayer life
But if you meditate on them, they are not exactly new; since they correspond to the joyful for Monday and Thursday in the correct order. Baptism is beginning of Christ for the world same as the Annunciation of the incarnation of the Word. Cana weddings, it is Mary present with Her Divine Son in the live and service of others. The Proclamation of the Kingdom remarks the beginning of Divine Light in the Birth of God's Son. The transfiguration happens on the Christ Presentation in the temple and who accompanies him before God the Father, it is where Simeon and Ana, waiting for Him, can see and glorify Him. The institution of the Eucharist is Jesus who disappears from the sight but is found present in the Temple Body and word.
I pray the 15 original mysteries. It's SO perfect as It is! The Luminous I treat as a separate "chaplet" that can be said as a devotion APART from the rosary, -- especially at Adoration because of the last " Eucharist " mystery. Adding it to the Perfect Psalter Mary gave us never seemed right to me.
I used to pray the Luminous mysteries with un comfort but through meditating, I fell in love with them. It was very thoughtful of the church to add these mysteries, meditation on how Jesus begins the ministry and the climax which is the center of life, the Holy Eucharist. The Church nailed it. Please Pray , hope and don't worry.

Thank you. I was just contemplating on this yesterday, struggling with the luminous, and asking what to do. An answer within a day. The Fatima prayer(O my Jesus forgive us our sins....) was an addition, but instructed by Our Blessed Mother to add.
I've gone in circles with the new Rosary vs traditional So now I'm going to the traditional and we'll see what Our Lady of Fatima wishes me to do.I'll be looking for signal graces Mother Mary pray for us
One thing that is comforting is when in doubt, you can never go wrong with tradition. We live in confusing times, so just stick with the old school and you'll be good to go
Patrick, I've prayed the daily Rosary most of my life. If I'm meditating on a particular Mystery of the Rosary and the Holy Ghost leads me to another Biblical scene/meditation, I am still praying the Rosary.
Thank you so much for clearing this up for me! I tried to incorporate the Luminous Mysteries and it drove me crazy and then I'd feel guilty for abandoning it; it was all very confusing for me! I know it sounds silly but when I awake in the morning I always know what day it is because of the mystery I will be praying; hmmm, today is the Joyful Mystery, it must be Monday 🙂! Thanks again, what a blessing!
I am very surprised at hearing this. I have prayed the rosary every day for a few years now and I’ve always found it weird how the order of the rosary goes Luminous Thursday, Sorrowful Friday, Joyful Saturday and glorious Sunday. I think I am going to pray the rosary the traditional way from now on, especially because the luminous mysteries are optional. I think the luminous mysteries are amazing but for the sake of simplicity in my spiritual life. I’ll pray the traditional version of the holy rosary.
If you read St. Louis de Monfort's, The Secret of the Rosary, it will help understand. The Luminous mysteries are meditations for the "Finding Jesus in the Temple" (Joyful mystery). I am still learning, and I hope that this further helps you prayer life.
I have been praying all 20 every day since I retired last Oct. But after looking at Our Lady's pronouncements from the past it seems she always speaks of the 15 decades. I will try that for a while.
Maybe do the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady or the Saint Michael chaplet. I do not pray the luminous mysteries but I do not see a benefit from removing them without replacing it with something else.
the luminous mysteries is for our times The first mystery is about baptism Nobody baptized There kids any more The second The second one is the wedding feast in Cairo Nobody gets married anymore everybody is living in foreign occasion And it goes on Keep up the fort rosary ❤
The Luminous Mysteries are a suggestion by Pope Saint John Paul II, who only ever meant to propose one more set of meditations on the life of Christ that he deemed were important for our times. Baptism, obedience, conversion, Christ's fulfilling of the Law and the prophets, and the Eucharist. They are not traditionaly part of the Rosary, and as a Christian you have no obligation to pray them, but they are a beautiful and rich addition! There's no reason not to pray them. A lot of thought went into this suggestion by the Pope Saint.
I can't stand the "new" ways of the church. I can't stand receiving Communion by a common lay person, half the time some 19 year old girl. Please bring back the original Mass.
Keep the faith . Our Church has been infiltrated by rabid wolves ... but Our God is the same yesterday , today and forever . I pray that He closely guides and guards our every step as we navigate this tragically lost world.
Traditional Latin Mass people have found a refuge in the Eastern Catholic Rites if you can't find a TLM. Vatican II never touched the Divine Liturgies of the East, thank the Lord. It's very reverent, ancient and beautiful.
Thank you fr for a very good talk. Personally speaking, I love the mysteries of light, and I think they are great addition to the Rosary I think it gave a great boost and helped reintroduce the Rosary just as had been done by Saint you mentioned. Personally, I think Our Lady would be very pleased with the addition but also with the particular mysteries that focus on her son. I also think the Pope had the authority to make this addition. Before the mysteries the Rosary was chistt centered and with the addition it is still christ centered I hope that people will accept these beautiful mysteries of light and start praying them if not doing so already. God bless everybody.
So here’s a thought: St Dominic was given the rosary around 1208. During that time, the second [petition] half of the Ave Maria wasn’t implemented or even said. The official form of the Ave Maria as we know it today, was given in the Roman Breviary in 1568. All of that being said, even without the luminous mysteries, we are already saying a longer form of the rosary than was given to St Dominic, meaning, even now we aren’t saying exactly the way the Blessed Mother gave it.
Rosary weapon against Evil Mother Mary our mama will be loved by her children . Jesus desires all to live in Gods Divine Will moment by the whole world 🌎 thanksgiving fiat fiat fiat Rosary Rosary Rosary 📿 ❤❤❤
For those who really like the Luminous mysteries, don't forget that you can still pray them as a separate chaplet using the rosary beads. This devotion existed before St John Paul II instituted them. But to avoid confusion, and to avoid the boldness of thinking we know better than the Blessed Virgin, we should avoid calling these mysteries the rosary, and we should not let it replace the daily rosary - even on Thursday. It should only be used as an additional devotion if you wish.
For those who won't be convinced of the truth and insist upon using this quite unnecessary, ancillary and indeed spiteful addition to Our Blessed Mother's traditional Rosary, which does nothing to enhance but quite the contrary, raises much confusion, not to mention a disruptive and cancerous spirit in the soul, just remember that its unholy midwife was the antichrist himself, JPII, of atrocious memory!
@@vincentperratore4395 Sorry, I stopped paying attention to what you said after you called "Saint" John Paul II atrocious. Slandering the saints I presume to be cancerous for the soul.
Fr thank you for faithfully discharging your duty of state of your priestly office in directing souls straight to God and not to get distracted. Keeping you and all priests in my daily prayers especially in praying the Rosary. May god bless and protect you and all priests and Our Lady keep you all safe under Her mantle. Deo Gratias! 🕊❤️💙💒✝️🙏
I used to not pray the Luminous. I try now to pray them once or twice a week (and the full rosary daily). I try. I find them very helpful. They seem very fitting for the attacks on marriage and the Eucharist, the need for us to be transfigured into Christ and the need to repent (3rd luminous) and to be reminded of our baptism and baptismal promises. There is great grace in meditating on them. John Paul II said the rosary was his favorite prayer (see his Encyclical). In any case it's OPTIONAL only. Nobody has to pray it -- that's John Paul II's own instruction on the new mysteries. No need to pray it nor to attack it.
This is such a sad and confusing time we live in. I am at a loss for words. And to think it will only get worse. Seeing the image of the small children of Fatima is emotionally moving. It leads me to beg them for their intercession during these times of crisis. Knowing how they died as children, alone and in total suffering on behalf of people like me, the worst and yet the most most in need of Gods Mercy. I can only plead to them to pray and beg God to have mercy on me and my family to live in complete trust of God. What a terrible time we live in. God have Mercy on our souls. Our Lady of Fatima pray for us. Little seers of Fatima pray for us.
I add a saint Michael's prayer each decade when I am praying the rosary alone. I also say the Anime Christi, because I had trouble memorizing the Hail Holy Queen, so I said that instead. I now know it so I say both. New convert here, I'm trying to figure out where the lines are drawn.
I think it’s wonderful that you do so much with your rosary. We like reading a short devotion before each decade, and often add in other prayers as you’ve done, such as a line from from a litany before each Hail Mary. We don’t do it this way every time, however, because there isn’t always time for more than a simple rosary. As to what is / isn’t allowed, the rules for private and public devotions are different. Though there’s nothing wrong with praying the rosary in a wide variety of ways privately, it’s important to note that not all prayers are approved for public devotion. As to your mention of adding the St. Michael prayer at the end of each decade and again at the end of the rosary, this practice actually goes way back as a simple way to honor St. Michael and invoke his powerful protection. My husband has been doing this with his own rosaries for a long time for that very purpose after finding the suggestion on a traditional Catholic website about spiritual warfare.
I get you what you're saying about not being able to memorize one prayer my first language isn't English but the prayers are 😂, when that happens to me I used to Read the prayer and then eventually I can memorized all the prayers. It's ok to have a little note book filled with all your favourite prayers. Some of us add on a few prayers after concluding prayers, To be safe we can say other prayers after our daily rosary May God bless you, teach you and be with you 🙏
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Oh clement, oh loving, oh sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us oh Holy Mother of God, that we be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
I have prayed both versions in different phases of my life and these are what I have observed. Back in college, I was praying the 3 mysteries and I felt that the Divine assistance has always been with me., things that sometimes would / could become awry would get resolved easily. I felt protected by God. When I started praying the 4 mysteries, somehow, I did not feel the same protection that I had then. That even completing the praying of the 4 mysteries was a big struggle. Back then, I just assumed that the struggle is a sacrifice that I have to make. Then one day, as i was out of time to pray the rosary before mass, I decided to pray only the 3 mysteries. Lo and behold, I felt happier, lighter and the struggle to pray the rosary disappeared.
So I started to pray the 3 mysteries only, and after 2-3 days of praying, I felt God's special protection again. And then I saw and watched this video and it cemented my belief that I should pray the 3 mysteries from now on.
Personal perception is no basis for a theological proposal. Personal perception is deceptive, and it leads to protestantism. Read the Ascent of Mount Carmel. In fact, experiecing a "dark hour of the soul" is necessary to achieve the full union with Christ.
Our Blessed Mother asked the children in Fatima to pray one third of the rosary every day. One third of 15 is 5, one third of 20 is 6.66….I am sticking to the original …who are we to question our Mother?
Since the recitation of the Luminous Mysteries is simply optional; I will remain loyal to the original formula as given by Our Lady herself - Queen of Heaven and Earth!
@@barbwellman6686 Because it's not the Rosary? Why would anyone think Our Lady's wishes and will were somehow imperfect and needing of fulfillment and correction later on with John Paul the Greatest Since Sliced Bread? Why would a man who is prone to error and scandal be someone I listen to over Our Lady who has confirmed the 15 Mysteries and 150 Hail Marys? Who would dare think there is something lacking in the Rosary to insert optional changes? That is prideful and an insult to Our Lady. Pray the "Luminous mysteries" by themselves, outside the Rosary. Leave the Rosary to it's true form, otherwise it is no longer the Rosary.
@@nOPE-fs3du Why? Because the Luminous Mysteries are also part of Christ mission on earth: His Baptism (and later ours), His first public Miracle and Our Lady's intercession at Cana, Christ's proclamation of the Kingdom and His call for Conversion (Reconciliation),the Lord's Transfiguration, and His institution of the New Covenant through the Eucharist.
@@barbwellman6686 But, the Rosary is not a catalog of everything Christ did and it's not suppose to be. It's not even supposed to be a catalog of every major highlight. Why? Because the structure is reflective of the 150 Psalms, hence "Mary's Psalter." Otherwise, we might as well keep making more mysteries so we can cover everything that Christ did on His mission. If the Rosary had 70 Mysteries or adjusted the Hail Mail count to 20 per decade instead of 10, would it still be the Rosary? It certainly wouldn't be what Our Lady gave to St. Dominic. It certainly would be the just the 15 mysteries that Our Lady wants us to pray per the message of Fatima. One cannot take a devotion and morph it into something that destroys it's intrinsic structure, symbolism, and chronological flow and call it the same thing. And one shouldn't come along and act like they are wiser than centuries of Pope, true Saints, and Our Lady herself, seeking to add more mysteries and thereby breaking the Psalter/structure of the devotion.
I would respectfully propose a third way. I had trouble with saying the Luminous Mysteries in the daily pattern of the Rosary but they are very well-suited to Eucharistic adoration. If one says the Rosary in the traditional cycle and says one set of Mysteries each day, the traditional balance is perfect. If one says all three traditional Mysteries each day then the Luminous Mysteries can provide a further meditation during Holy Hour. The Luminous Mysteries are an addition and should not subtract, detract, re-order or disorder the original devotion. The Luminous Mysteries are a reverent way to prolong the devotion and not a distortion to compare with the vivisection of the Rosary proposed by Monsignor Bugnini. Some people love novelties for the sake of novelty and they were eager to rearrange and personalize even a holy devotion given to us by Our Lady for the nourishment, formation, perfecting in faith and salvation of souls. St. John Paul II did not suggest supplanting the traditional order, others rushed to do that. I would also point out the six (Brigittine) and seven decade (Franciscan Crown) rosaries used by many people for many centuries to offer more devotion (not less). These devotions are authentic and salutary.
Before Saint Pope John Paul II came out with the Luminous mysteries, a priest came out with a Scriptural Eucharist mysteries of the Rosary 📿 pamphlet. I’ve bought 💯 of them and produced two new mysteries: the Word of God mysteries and the Incarnation mysteries. The Word of God mysteries include: 1: the Gospel is veiled (read 2 Corinthians 3:13-4:4 and John 6:48 & 56). 2. Jesus is tempted with a perversion of scripture (read Matthew 4:5-7). 3. Jesus Christ is the WORD OF GOD (read John 1:1-15, 8:12, 12:46 and 18:37). 4. Christ’s Church is the authoritative source for interpreting scripture (read John 3:11 & 4:31-42). 5. Jesus interprets the scripture for His Church (read Luke 24:13-35). The Incarnation mysteries include: 1. God’s image; 2. The Type of Incarnation; 3. The Incarnation; 4. Christ’s Human Nature; 5. Christ’s Divine Nature.
I grew up without knowing how to pray the Rosary on my own, but only through the Father Peyton series (available on TH-cam). Of course, the original "Rosary Priest" series didn't include the Luminous Mysteries, but the TH-cam videos do.
I am so grateful to God for your clarity of the Traditional Holy Rosary. I've searched for 7 years to find fragmented information 🙏🙏🙏 Your video is needed for these times for future, as I am sure you know. A continuation of St Domenic; passing the Sacred Traditions. So precious is The Battering Ram. Ive shared the video.
Adding the mysteries doesn't make sense in light of the rosary being "Mary's Psalter", i.e. a means of the laity to join the religious in praying the Psalms by praying 150 Hail Mary's. However, in meditating and imitating Christ through this devotion, I think the Luminous mysteries are beneficial. In the original devotion, we move from the joyful mysteries of Christ's birth and childhood and then immediately to his sorrowful mysteries of his death and resurrection. The luminous mysteries fill in the space that would be Christ's life. I don't see how this lessens a person's piety or detract from the original devotion by including these mysteries.
Ned Lawrence the Church has the authority to make alterations to practices. Adding the Luminous mysteries are wonderful. But I stick to praying the decades in order.
Ned Lawrence, If I remember my church history correctly; the early Christian church used to consider Wednesday to be "Mary's Day". If I am not mistaken, this is still true in the Eastern Orthodox churches. If Wednesday is seen as the first day of the "Marian Week") then saying the mysteries in order from Wednesday makes sense for Wed, Thurs., Friday and Saturday. OR YOU COULD DO AS THE FRANCISCANS (see below) and then say the Glorious Mysteries on Sunday. I am sure after the Crucifixion, on the next day (Saturday), that Mary must have been reflecting on the joys of her life with Jesus. She may have believed that he would resurrect as well as, possibly, have some inclination of the crown of eternal salvation given to those who persevere in their faith. We don't know, the scriptures are about Jesus, not Mary. Church tradition is what speaks of Mary's life after the Resurrection. As I recall from this video (#1 of 3 links, given below) the Franciscans say their 7 decade, "Joys of Mary" rosary on Saturday [consisting of the mysteries of the: *Annunciation* , *Visitation* , *Nativity* , *Presentation at the Temple* , *Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple* , *the Resurrection* , *the Assumption/Coronation of Mary* (treated as one combined event) Of course, that would leave Monday and Tuesday (more or less) "out of sync." ??? But there are other Marian devotions (e.g. "7 Sorrow's of Mary"- chaplet and the "3 Hail Mary" - chaplet) _________________________________ #1) *How To: Pray the Franciscan* *'Crown' (aka: "Seraphim") Rosary"* th-cam.com/video/AmJBs3x_GEY/w-d-xo.html #2 a.) *Homily re: Franciscan Crown* *…… Rosary & Renewal of its Papal* *…. Adding the Luminous Mysteries then would not make the Rosary Mary's Psalter. It would make 175 Hail Mary's. It make sense only if you do not call the Rosary Mary's Psalter.
The new mysteries are not bad in themselves because they have the most sacred of all prayers and the holy mysteries are very good. If it had been added not to replace but as an extra devotion, like the litanies or chaplet of mercy, the holy wounds, the seven sorrows rosary, etc. it would probably have been okay. But to intermingle it with what had been given directly from heaven, and erupt the order of the rosary is almost an insult to the most holy Mother of God. Father gives an excellent presentation which I agree with whole-heartedly. St. John gives us a summary of the 15 mysteries in his Gospel, very first chapter: "He came unto his won (the Joyful Mysteries), His own received him not (the Sorrowful mysteries), but to all who did receive him, he gave power to become sons of God (the Glorious Mysteries. Not only that, but the number of fish counted at the end of St. John's gospel, 153, exactly corresponds with the number of Hail Marys in the 15 decade rosary. St. John may have been enlightened about the rosary to come, since he was given care of the most holy Mother of God.
Holy Holy Holy is our Lord oh Lord you promised to be with us till the end of times we are miserable sinners but safe in Mary's hands blessed Mary Mother of God pray for us now and in the hour of our death .Amen
As Father was speaking (each time) about the Luminous, my head kept repeating: "Lutheran." The reasoning behind that set of mysteries-to make the Rosary more "biblical"-caused me to believe that the Luminous mysteries are Lutheran in essence. I've only prayed the three sets of decades since my reversion two years ago! 👀 Interesting.
I thought the Luminous Mysteries were to bring out issues with today's problems: Baptism of Jesus => Some parents are not Baptizing their children. Something Grandparents demand it and parents do it to get them off their back.. Wedding at Cana => Fidelity and the sacrament of marriage => divorce and remarrying is out of control. I get asked if I'm married. When I say I've been married for 27 years. I'm then asked, "To the to the same woman?" Proclaiming the Kingdom => Desire for Holiness. Maybe turn off the R rated movies and sitcoms, stop gambling and give to the poor, stop voting for pro-abortion candidates so long as they meet your needs, etc. Also, stop comparing yourself to others and compare yourself to Jesus. Transfiguration => Spiritual Courage, which seems to be lacking. Politicians twisting the teaching of the Church to get votes or go with the crowd. Speaking out against abortion. Institution of the Eucharist => The TRUE PRESENCE of Jesus in the Eucharist. Some are doubting. Including priests. Back in the 70's, the tabernacle was next to the door. I see people walk in front of the tabernacle and not even genuflect or bow. I agree that it was defined by St. Pope John Paul II, but he prayed a lot over it. I love tradition, but these Mysteries are still praying the Bible and concentrating on Jesus through Mary. All Mary wants is to lead you to Jesus and His Truth. I might be wrong, but I have turned my life around by praying the Rosary and the four Mysteries.
I agree with your view of the Luminous mysteries. ALSO The Pope renewed the indulgence for the Franciscan 7-Decade "Crown" (aka: "7 Joys of Mary" or "Seraphim" rosary
I agree and have no problem with them as an extra set of mysteries to meditate on if l get the chance but if you're praying just 5 mysteries a day these do interfer with the flow so l usually give them a miss.
Amen. Let us pray for a revival of the traditional rosary and recall those words of Pope Pius IX: ""Give Me an Army Saying the Rosary and I will Conquer the World".
In the Name of the Father, And of the Son, And of the Holy Spirit. Amen. May the messengers of God bring joy to God with the Holy Rosary prayed daily. Thank you my beloved Brother.
Thank you. I liked the Luminous Mysteries in and of themselves. But to me it threw everything off so I went back to the traditional recitation. Very happy to understand why this feels right!
Do you think Our Lady is upset if we pray the Luminous Mysteries? These days where the faith is shaken. Going through our Lord’s life beginning with Baptism and ending with the Institution of the Holy Eucharist. God has blessed us with these mysteries
I've never seen or heard anything so clear as this video about the Holy Rosary, as you said very well, we Portuguese speaking people say "Santo Terço" (Sacto Terso). Thank you so much for this amazing video explaining and opening my eyes to the true devotion of the most Holy Rosary. May Our Lady and Mother protect us all, and keep your beautiful work for us. Thank you. God bless. Ave Maria!
Very true ... I'm going to try and pray the Joyful , Luminous , Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries everyday 🤗. It is said St Padre Pio would pray 18 rosaries everyday .
The rosary containing the luminous mysteries was only if we wanted to add them by choice and the chosen day was Thursday. It wasn’t supposed to be replacing the joyful mysteries, but in addition to. It lines up with holy Thursday for that time of year and helps us reflect on those important times of Christ’s life. It wasn’t supposed to restructure the rosary, but only in addition to if we chose to. I remember when pope John Paul came out with the addition. Every Thursday I start my day with the joyful mysteries, and in the evening I pray the mysteries of light.
I have never said them either. My first reaction to it, was immediately, the name of the Mystery itself. "Luminous" reminded me of light. Therefore, what came to my mind was Lucifer. His name meaning "bearer of light".
@@louisianagrandma3595Please learn how to discern the thoughts, because in your scrupulosity you may consider something good as coming from the evil one.
Thank you Father. I have never prayed the luminous mysteries as I have always thought that it would be acknowledging that the blessed Mother's Rosary was somehow imperfect and lacking.
The 15 decades were given to Saint Dominic and authorized / promoted by the Holy See; the 5 decades under discussion were given to Saint George Preca and authorized / promoted by the Holy See (Saint Pope John Paul II, and following).
Do you pray the full Hail Mary in the rosary, or the shorter version that St. Dominic said? Just because there are additions to the Rosary doesn’t mean it was lacking beforehand; this is proven by the fact that our Blessed Mother herself asked that we additionally prayed the Fatima prayers in the rosary when she appeared in Fatima.
Holy Mary told us in Scripture to "do whatever Jesus tells you". Well, Jesus tells us alot in the Luminous Mysteries. Bottom line: pray the Rosary daily and pray it with or without the Luminous Mysteries, whichever way helps you to become more virtuous.
When the Luminous Mysteries were added, something didn't seem right, as they dealt with mysteries not directly related to Our Lady, except possibly the Wedding at Cana. Since they were optional, I just ignored them. I'm glad to see my spiritual insight has been confirmed. My only complaint is all the lovely Rosary prayer books have disappeared, or have been altered to include the Luminous Mysteries. It all seems so disruptive and disorderly for no specific purpose.
Robin Poe go to Alibris for older prayer books. Sometimes you can find rosary books at thrift stores. Next time I find one, I will let you know and send it to you.
I was raised with the three sets of mysteries, and it's all I've every know or said.Wish I had a local Saturday Mass so I could make the first Saturdays.
To God be all the Glory that he would preserve his mothers place in salvation. Hail Mary, I love thee!! The Rosary is a living thing. It’s Our umbilical cord to her holiness, The Mother of God. Pray it everyday. 🙏
This got me thinking. What if one prays all 4 mysteries? The psalter is prayed in one day so the whole rosary ( all 15 or 20 decades) should be prayed in one day. Will adding 50 more Hail Marys a day be bad? I’m sure it is not bad but it is not necessary for holiness as I’m sure the Blessed Mother knows exactly what is needed. If you only pray one mystery a day then use the traditional pattern: J/S/G and on Sunday, pray depending on the liturgical season. It becomes a problem when you pray the 54 day rosary novena, that’s when I don’t pray the Luminous mysteries because it throws it off. Now where it got me thinking, I don’t have to pray all 4 mysteries. I can just pray 3 because that’s what was requested by the Blessed Mother. Mother Mary, help!
Thank You most Holy Mother of Mercy and never ending love for Your children by now herewith answering my question, as I will follow as by Your will. All has been clarified with these wonderful historical traditional sacred details... Thank you Father for your explanations and prayer in letting us understand to respect in which MARY taught to pray the Rodary and how Our Mother in such way approaches us and how we better yet can approach Her through praying the traditional Rosary..
the luminous mysteries is for our times The first mystery is about baptism Nobody baptized There kids any more The second one is the wedding feast in Cairo Nobody gets married anymore everybody is living in foreign occasion And it goes on Keep up the fort rosary ❤
While that is true, those who aren't marrying or baptizing aren't going to Mass either... But the younger ones who actually are, prefer the TLM. Go figure! 👍🙏
Before I was Confirmed in the Catholic Church back in 2019, I was praying the Luminous Mysteries. Something was off. By the Grace of God and His Holy Mother, I learned of the Traditional 15 Mysteries and makes perfect sense. Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Monday-Wednesday. Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Thursday-Saturday. Then, the season we are in is Sunday. Perfectly complete. Just like everything else in the Lord's Catholic Church.
I think that it does not matter which rosary is prayed (TRADITIONAL OR NEW UPDATED), what matters is to pray the rosary. as simple as that. (March 23 2018)
I think that it does matter. And there are reasons why the original mysteries are like they are. These reasons do not apply to the innovated mysteries. And it has to do with their content. Not with who invented them, when or why. The proof is in the pudding. The new mysteries do not belong.
@@seriouscat2231 You don't find it curious that in cases like this, a priest will condemn change.... Yet in other instances when defending their faith, these same people such as this priest will cite "whatever you bind on Earth will be bound in heaven."? Literally...... Catholics will defend many teachings and dogmas of the church by citing "whatever you (Bishops and Priests) bind on Earth will be bound in heaven. Yet. , Such as in the case of this priest speaking in this video.... Whenever there's something he doesn't agree with, suddenly that no longer matters? Our Lady gave St Dominic a fifteen decade Rosary. The Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries. Also, some rosaries are six (Saint Birgitta of Sweden) and seven (Franciscan Crown) decades; not the 5-decade Dominican rosary that is also used as a Divine Mercy Chaplet, for those who like that devotion. St Francis of Assisi created the 14 Stations of the cross devotion (7 decades gone through twice) Franciscans also have 7 joyful "Flowers" meditations that they do with their rosaries. There may be more. (I am not that familiar with Franciscan devotions.) I wish you the best! :)
I have never said the new mysteries of the Rosary and never will, because Our Lady gave the Rosary has she wanted it prayed to Saint Dominic and as such that is how it should remain for me anyway .

Memento Mei but Christ gave his church the right to loose and bind. Everyone forgets that part. And I doubt she would have a problem with her son's chosen vicor adding mysteries, it's all on the life of Jesus.
May all our brothers and sisters cling to the one true catholic and apostolic church and its teachings. May our brothers and sisters be enlightened by the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ and our blessed mother. Please cling to the traditional Rosary and the traditional mass. God Bless
I have heard the explanation for the luminous mysteries introduced by Pope John Paul II as his way to combat some modern-day heresies such as not needing baptism, no need for marriage and lack of belief in the holy Eucharist. He loved the rosary very much. Perhaps even our lady asked him to include those, we will never know. He didn't change any of the prayers he just added some more meditations on things that are going awry today.
I could be wrong and i usually love this priest sermons but I don’t know meditating on luminous ACTUAL EVENTS IN THE LIFE OF JESUS could somehow do disservice to Mary Maybe she even appeared to John paul 2. Waaaaaaaaay overthinking it. 5 beautiful enlightening mysteries to me personally
Because She gave exact instructions as to how to pray the Rosary - meaning, if She had wanted to add the "luminous" mysteries, she would have said so. She did not, and to try and change what She Herself gave St. Dominic, is in direct defiance of her wishes and instructions to us.
Please pray joyful, sorrowful and glorious mysteries everyday! Like the 150 psalms Mary and Joseph prayed every day during their life on earth! I learned this from the book of the life of St.Joseph as revealed by Jesus to an Italian nun.
The Baptism of Christ, The Wedding at Cana, Proclamation of the Kingdom of Heaven, the Transfiguration, and the Institution of the Holy Eucharist. Someone please explain how the Blessed Mother would be upset by this???
She wouldn't. See my response above. This sort of criticism is a magnet for sedevacantism. John Paul II really did know what he was doing. And he was both a pope and is a canonized saint, something which the priest delivering this homily is not (yet).
The (Tridentine) Latin Mass is a Canonized Mass. Was the Seat vacant when Pope St. Pius V wrote Quo Primum? Did the Seat return around Pope Paul 6, with the Novus Disordo and that photo opt in '67 with those 6 protestant 'ministers, who helped Pope Paul 6, make it up...as they were going along? It's 'sixening' when you actually think about it.
I agree....I don't usually say the Luminous mysteries though...it's not mandatory...it's simply an additional way to meditate on our Savior's life. How can that be harmful?
Peche Lele because Mother Mary had warned us that the Faith will only be kept in Fatima. That means after 1960 any new changes in Rome are not meant to keep the faith. Adding the 4th destroys the 3 which is the faith of the Holy Trinity. Adding another 5 decades destroys the original 150 angelic psalters. Adding the last supper destroys the faith that the Holy Mass is the sorrowful mysteries the offering of the Purest Lamb Jesus on calvary. It supports the protestant theology that the mass is symbolism to the last supper.
In my opinion the luminous mysteries are a wonderful devotion alongside the traditional rosary😊 they are an important supplementary thing to contemplate! Baptism, preaching, marriage, deification ,and the institution of the eucharist! I think it might just come to the interpretation of how the rosary works. Is it only effective if we contemplate the exact mysteries given by Our Lady? Or, is she also pleased by the same prayers, even done with Latin and singing, while contemplating mysteries she did not list? I mean, the eastern Catholics contemplate other mysteries and yet we call that rosary an acceptable form of prayer. Not inferior at all to the western version. You also have the carthusian rosary. You also have the relatively big tradition of adding an extra decade for the souls in purgatory. By no means is this a license to replace the Holy Rosary with something new entirely. You have 15 mysteries given by Our Lady. A Holy and venerable tradition . Given to fight against the albigensians and other heresies. Now, tack on 5 more that were drawn mostly by a saint, asked to be done by a saint pope, which all fight against the modern heresies of today. Honestly, If these 5 mysteries came out 100 years ago no trad would have a problem with them. It's just it's from a time when the Church at large does whacky things in general and it just seems safe to reject anything novel barring a serious miracle.
Meme me very well said. I was thinking that the Luminous would have been accepted from Pope St. Pius X. Glad almost all are Rosary Warriors on this Comment thread.
I was never in favor of adding the Luminous mysteries. They didn't seem to fit into the sequence of the other mysteries, as you discussed. I will continue to pray the traditional Rosary, as Our Lady has requested.
6:07 It seems he did in fact simplify the Rosary from 50 mysteries to 15. Whether he found it so, or he did so on his own behalf or was ordered, so one could easily learn all mysteries by heart and recite without a priest.
I see no problem in adding the luminous mysteries to the traditional rosary. If you want to stick with the traditional then do so. The choice is yours. Also I think it is important to highlight that the Catholic Church is always evolving. It is likely that new prayers and devotions will be added in the centuries that follow through future saints in response to serious world issues that may arise. Time does not stand still. I feel fortunate to live in an era where I can go to mass and pray the rosary.
1) The Baptism of Jesus: The rise of "I'm spiritual, but not religious" is reason enough to meditate on this. 2) The Wedding at Cana: Divorce, cohabitation, gay "marriage," and all other forms of mockery for the sacrament of matrimony show this might be important too. 3) The Proclamation of the Kingdom: How often have we heard that someone's catechesis was sub par? Sounds like this one is very valid as well. 4) The Transfiguration: "Jesus was just a good teacher or a prophet, but He wasn't God." Nuff said. 5) The Institution of the Eucharist: We've all seen the polls on what Catholics actually think the Eucharist is, and it's not pretty. Yeah, looks like Pope St John Paul II knew that we would need these mysteries for our times.
We needed 10 years of 'Theology of the Body' homilies and papal publications to reinforce our understanding of the theological foundation of marriage, but that doesn't seem to have helped our current pope and his German advisors much. Nor (so-called) Catholics.
I am seeing this again; and it still is rediculous. Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, Glorious. it is almost like telling us to ignore Christ's Baptism, the Wedding feast, sermon on the Mount, the Tranfiguration, The Institution of the Eucharist. acting as if meditating on these Gospel events could take away from the other 15 Mysteries of the Rosary.
@@Psalm34rws At the same time ironicly the reason people listen to him in to what seem a little more credible than half-truths is actual modern abuses. On this particular issue however, the arguments fall very short and I do not see the sense in them. such as in correlation to the calender how 3 set of 5 mysteries in 7 days makes any sense when it is to be recited daily. If people had been abandoning the Joyful, Sorrowful, or Glorious it first of all wouldn't make sense, but I could see the issue in such a case. If there are events in the life of Christ worth meditation; it seems to me the method is via a Lord's Prayer and ten Aves... 25,30, to 35; speaking strictly numbers and days is within the realm or reason.
Taylor Marshall has said he things the Luminous mysteries should be prayed as a separate chaplet, as to not disrupt the 150 Hail Marys that reflect the psalter.
@Vaya Condios What are you talking about? The devil always tries to destroy the Catholic Church. That's why we need to pray for our priests, bishops, and our Pope.
Amen! And also in Japan. The rosary preserves the faith!
And in North Viet Nam, the parishioners would gather together to pray the rosary instead of mass because there were no priest.

Yes, pray the Rosary exactly in the style that the Mother of God has instructed us to do so.

@larrywethington5936 well that wasn't part of the original Rosary. Don't see anybody having an issue with that addition

I read meditations on each mystery as I pray them. That helps me enormously.
Thanks mom.
"to whom *thou* gave(st) birth" - sorry, my Dad was a grammar perfectionist and some of it rubbed off on me!

I say the BVM's version: 3 mysteries. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a mistake.
Praying all 3 will deepen your appreciation of the Rosary and YES it’s about the rhythm of human life
yes , it is kind of hard to fit four into the day , I think I'll start with three daily, it does fit the day perfectly as it is perfect
The transfiguration happens on the
Christ Presentation in the temple and who accompanies him before God the Father, it is where Simeon and Ana, waiting for Him, can see and glorify Him.
That's excellent!
Exactly 🤍
I used to pray the Luminous mysteries with un comfort but through meditating, I fell in love with them. It was very thoughtful of the church to add these mysteries, meditation on how Jesus begins the ministry and the climax which is the center of life, the Holy Eucharist. The Church nailed it. Please Pray , hope and don't worry.

I have been a Catholic now for 10 years and I have no problem with praying the Rosary as it is
Thank you. I was just contemplating on this yesterday, struggling with the luminous, and asking what to do. An answer within a day. The Fatima prayer(O my Jesus forgive us our sins....) was an addition, but instructed by Our Blessed Mother to add.
Yes! That makes sense
The Rosary has never been changed. The Luminous Mysteries have always been optional. It's the modenists who have distorted it.

You can always pray the luminous as a separate chaplet if you wish, but don't call it the rosary - that is I think a good compromise.

Except for the part where St. Louis de Monfort prayed the traditional 15 mystery rosary.
I loved going back to 15 decades. I do all of it now
I have been praying all 20 every day since I retired last Oct.
Don’t reduce the prayers, keep 20 but instead say the sorrowful mysteries twice
the luminous mysteries is for our times The first mystery is about baptism Nobody baptized There kids any more The second The second one is the wedding feast in Cairo Nobody gets married anymore everybody is living in foreign occasion And it goes on Keep up the fort rosary ❤

I am so glad I watched this video cleared up a lot of doubts I had about praying the traditional Rosary. Thank You so much!
Thank you fr for a very good talk.
Personally speaking, I love the mysteries of light, and I think they are great addition to the Rosary
I think it gave a great boost and helped reintroduce the Rosary just as had been done by Saint you mentioned.
Personally, I think Our Lady would be very pleased with the addition but also with the particular mysteries that focus on her son.
I also think the Pope had the authority to make this addition.
Before the mysteries the Rosary was chistt centered and with the addition it is still christ centered
I hope that people will accept these beautiful mysteries of light and start praying them if not doing so already.
God bless everybody.
I agree we need the luminous and it helps me recover from the sorrowful mysteries that bring me to tears 💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏿💙
So here’s a thought:
St Dominic was given the rosary around 1208.
Did you hear the bit about St Pius V

Who said that? Definitely was not me.
This is what is lacking in the explanation of the homily. There is more to the history. So much of our understanding has grown and become richer.
Yes, a private devotion that doesn’t replace the Mysteries of the Day is how I’ve been treating them for the past year or so
For those who won't be convinced of the truth and insist upon using this quite unnecessary, ancillary and indeed spiteful addition to Our Blessed Mother's traditional Rosary, which does nothing to enhance but quite the contrary, raises much confusion, not to mention a disruptive and cancerous spirit in the soul, just remember that its unholy midwife was the antichrist himself, JPII, of atrocious memory!

THANK YOU FOR GOOD & FAITHFUL SHEPHERDS FOR PROVIDING TRUTH IN HOW WE LIVE OUR FAITH & IT'S TRADITIONAL TEACHINGS. 🙏🙏🙏
I have been praying the 3 decades every day now for about a week. I love it
Personal perception is no basis for a theological proposal.

GOOD POINT!!
Since the recitation of the Luminous Mysteries is simply optional; I will remain loyal to the original formula as given by Our Lady herself - Queen of Heaven and Earth!
Why wouldn't you recite a period of Christ's life in remembrance of Him?
@@nOPE-fs3du
Why? Because the Luminous Mysteries are also part of Christ mission on earth: His Baptism (and later ours), His first public Miracle and Our Lady's intercession at Cana, Christ's proclamation of the Kingdom and His call for Conversion (Reconciliation),the Lord's Transfiguration, and His institution of the New Covenant through the Eucharist.
@@barbwellman6686
But, the Rosary is not a catalog of everything Christ did and it's not suppose to be. It's not even supposed to be a catalog of every major highlight. Why? Because the structure is reflective of the 150 Psalms, hence "Mary's Psalter."
Otherwise, we might as well keep making more mysteries so we can cover everything that Christ did on His mission.

Thank you for this video. I have been wanting to have information about the new vs old rosary. ❤. Thank you
I would respectfully propose a third way.

Well said. :)
If only people understand what you just have said... 😔 nevertheless, wr must never stop praying the rosary.

I agree
Before Saint Pope John Paul II came out with the Luminous mysteries, a priest came out with a Scriptural Eucharist mysteries of the Rosary 📿 pamphlet. I’ve bought 💯 of them and produced two new mysteries: the Word of God mysteries and the Incarnation mysteries.
The Word of God mysteries include:
1: the Gospel is veiled (read 2 Corinthians 3:13-4:4 and John 6:48 & 56).
The Incarnation mysteries include:
1. God’s image;
2. The Type of Incarnation;
3. The Incarnation;
4. Christ’s Human Nature;
5. Christ’s Divine Nature.
Fr. Patrick Peyton dedicated his life to spreading the dedication to the Holy Rosary.
I've searched for 7 years to find fragmented information 🙏🙏🙏
Your video is needed for these times for future, as I am sure you know.
Ned Lawrence,
If I remember my church history correctly;
the early Christian church used to consider
Wednesday to be "Mary's Day". If I am not
mistaken, this is still true in the Eastern
Orthodox churches.
If Wednesday is seen as the first day of the
"Marian Week") then saying the mysteries
in order from Wednesday makes sense for
Wed, Thurs., Friday and Saturday.
OR
YOU COULD DO AS THE FRANCISCANS
(see below) and then say the Glorious
Mysteries on Sunday.
I am sure after the Crucifixion, on the
next day (Saturday), that Mary must
have been reflecting on the joys
of her life with Jesus. She may have
believed that he would resurrect as
well as, possibly, have some inclination
of the crown of eternal salvation given
to those who persevere in their faith.
We don't know, the scriptures are about
Jesus, not Mary. Church tradition is
what speaks of Mary's life after the
Resurrection.
As I recall from this video (#1 of 3 links,
given below) the Franciscans say their 7
decade, "Joys of Mary" rosary on Saturday
[consisting of the mysteries of the:
*Annunciation* ,
*Visitation* ,
*Nativity* ,
*Presentation at the Temple* ,
*Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple* ,
*the Resurrection* ,
*the Assumption/Coronation of Mary*
(treated as one combined event)
Of course, that would leave Monday
and Tuesday (more or less) "out of
sync." ???
But there are other Marian devotions
(e.g. "7 Sorrow's of Mary"- chaplet
and the "3 Hail Mary" - chaplet)

The "luminous" mysteries are surely glorious. But they're no part of the actual Rosary. It's not ours to remake.
Adding the Luminous Mysteries then would not make the Rosary Mary's Psalter. It would make 175 Hail Mary's. It make sense only if you do not call the Rosary Mary's Psalter.
Correct. “The Twenty Mysteries of the Rosary?” www.seattlecatholic.com/article_20021108_The_Twenty_Mysteries_of_the_Rosary.html
That's an overally suspicious take. The Luminous mysteries are Catholic in essence
So you think the Bible is Lutheran? Interesting take.
Ahh yes, those Lutherans, famous for inventing mysteries for the Rosary.
Anthony, your TH-cam ministry is more valuable to Oklahoma Catholics than either one of its Bishops or both of them for that matter. Thank you!
I thought the Luminous Mysteries were to bring out issues with today's problems:
Baptism of Jesus
=> Some parents are not Baptizing their children. Something Grandparents demand it and parents do it to get them off their back..
Wedding at Cana
=> Fidelity and the sacrament of marriage => divorce and remarrying is out of control. I get asked if I'm married. When I say I've been married for 27 years. I'm then asked, "To the to the same woman?"
Proclaiming the Kingdom
=> Desire for Holiness. Maybe turn off the R rated movies and sitcoms, stop gambling and give to the poor, stop voting for pro-abortion candidates so long as they meet your needs, etc.
Also, stop comparing yourself to others and compare yourself to Jesus.
Transfiguration
=> Spiritual Courage, which seems to be lacking.
Vincent Villavicencio I agree with your reasoning.
I agree with your view of the

The rosary containing the luminous mysteries was only if we wanted to add them by choice and the chosen day was Thursday. It wasn’t supposed to be replacing the joyful mysteries, but in addition to. It lines up with holy Thursday for that time of year and helps us reflect on those important times of Christ’s life. It wasn’t supposed to restructure the rosary, but only in addition to if we chose to. I remember when pope John Paul came out with the addition. Every Thursday I start my day with the joyful mysteries, and in the evening I pray the mysteries of light.
I never do the Luminous! I do as it has been always. It is a real joy!
I have never said them either. My first reaction to it, was immediately, the name of the Mystery itself. "Luminous" reminded me of light. Therefore, what came to my mind was Lucifer. His name meaning "bearer of light".

Just because there are additions to the Rosary doesn’t mean it was lacking beforehand; this is proven by the fact that our Blessed Mother herself asked that we additionally prayed the Fatima prayers in the rosary when she appeared in Fatima.

Orthodox, living in Serbia (But
he speaks excellent English)
In the above video he discusses
both the Catholic and the Orthodox
rosaries. The prayers are a little bit
different. Bojan is a big fan of the
Orthodox Jesus Prayer … I know
Catholics who pray this devotion
too] -- Yeah, I'm plugging his
channel :P (A subscribe would
help him)
The following are places where
I have purchased Catholic stuff:
"Leaflet Missal Company", "The
Catholic Company Online" and
"Monastery Icons" You can
google these sites. All three
have never disappointed me.
Also, some rosaries are six
(Saint Birgitta of Sweden) and
seven (Franciscan Crown)
decades; not the 5-decade
Dominican rosary that is
also used as a Divine
Mercy Chaplet, for those
who like that devotion.
St Francis of Assisi created
the 14 Stations of the cross
devotion (7 decades gone
through twice) Franciscans
also have 7 joyful "Flowers"
meditations that they do with
their rosaries. There may be
more. (I am not that familiar
with Franciscan devotions.)
I wish you the best! :)
Gospel of St. John XXI,11 tells about the miraculous catch of 153 fishes 🐟 representing the 153 Hail Mary's in Our Lady's Psalter: the Rosary
I have never said the new mysteries of the Rosary and never will, because Our Lady gave the Rosary has she wanted it prayed to Saint Dominic and as such that is how it should remain for me anyway .
Pangur Gaming .. So what do you have against Saint John Paul ll? ..
+SmithsnMoz Hi, john paul II is not a Saint, actually very far from that... more over all the way back. Meaning he was EVIL, and betrayed our Lord Jesus!! here a video about it.. Cheers th-cam.com/video/3fhVowtLmOk/w-d-xo.html
Nando Denandos do not go into sedevacantism, its a heresy
Memento Mei but Christ gave his church the right to loose and bind. Everyone forgets that part. And I doubt she would have a problem with her son's chosen vicor adding mysteries, it's all on the life of Jesus.
Nando Denandos Peter betrayed Jesus.

The motto of Pope St. John Paul II was "Totus tuus" translated means "All for Mary".
@@marnatz5 thats not what Totus tuus means
@@GuitarBloodlinesDoesn’t it mean “totally yours”?
I was unaware of all of this and I thank you for informing me honest thank you and may God bless you
I pray 15 decades every day
Beautiful! Thank you!🙏❤️
Praise be Jesus Christ.
Wow I've never thought about it like this. This blows my mind.... now I'm confused about the luminous mysteries.... but this makes sense as well
I could be wrong and i usually love this priest sermons but I don’t know meditating on luminous ACTUAL EVENTS IN THE LIFE OF JESUS could somehow do disservice to Mary
Maybe she even appeared to John paul 2.
The "luminous" mysteries are surely glorious. But they're no part of the actual Rosary. It's not ours to remake as we wish.
Jeremiah Alphonsus I’m pretty sure he who has the keys can add by his authority
Wrong. See: “The Twenty Mysteries of the Rosary?” By John Vennari www.seattlecatholic.com/article_20021108_The_Twenty_Mysteries_of_the_Rosary.html
No one said that is forbiden to pray ,but just not part of tradicional rosary
I’m a restorationist Christian, but I pray the rosary. It is beautiful and deep.
What is "restorationist Christian"?? Mormon??
I was never in favor of adding the Luminous mysteries. They didn't seem to fit into the sequence of the other mysteries, as you discussed. I will continue to pray the traditional Rosary, as Our Lady has requested.

AMEN!
STICK WITH TRADITION
6:07 It seems he did in fact simplify the Rosary from 50 mysteries to 15.
Whether he found it so, or he did so on his own behalf or was ordered, so one could easily learn all mysteries by heart and recite without a priest.
Thanks be to God for this explanation.
Lord Jesus Christ says “I am an unchanging God” but evil men are forever confusing, evolving and gradually dissolving.
To clarify, faith and morals never evolve in the Catholic Church. The Deposit of Faith has been revealed once and for all.
There is a magnificent traditional rosary on TH-cam. It helps me meditate on the mysteries without my mind wondering.🙏♥️
Which one are you referring too??
@@beckyc.244 never took old Rosa mystica Rosa mystica on TH-cam
We needed 10 years of 'Theology of the Body' homilies and papal
publications to reinforce our understanding of the theological
foundation of marriage, but that doesn't seem to have helped our current
pope and his German advisors much. Nor (so-called) Catholics.
Excellent!!
Look up the Lady of Good Success.
@Vaya Condios What are you talking about? The devil always tries to destroy the Catholic Church. That's why we need to pray for our priests, bishops, and our Pope.
