A lot of the Asian shops have this tradition, not just restaurants.. the flower arrangements will be from family, friends, neighbours, tenants and even vendors to congratulate them on the opening.. no specific flowers but crysanthemum will be avoided as that’s associated with funerals

Yeah, not a lot of stew places around (Eastern or Western). It's always either soups or sauces, never that magical combination found in stews. Unless you count shepherds/pot pies or stew-in-a-can. It was always a big deal at family dinners when someone made slow-cooker stew.
