    I’ve been watching your channel for a while now., I’m 70 years old and use to do airbrush on vans and motorcycle’s back in the 70s. I used a Binks airbrush (which I still have,1 brand new) and I love the way you teach.. I’m trying to get back into this hobby because I love it! You give me hope that I can do this again.. my hand isn’t as smooth and my eyes aren’t as good but because of your sight I have “fun”! Thanks again

      That's awesome! Thank you for the kind words! It puts a smile on my face when my content has inspired someone to pick up the brush again! I can relate to some of that. My eyes aren't as good as they once were either. The smoothness should come back (as much as it can depending on other issues you may have anyway) with some practice.

      I’m 66 and getting back into it, after many years away. Started in the late 80’.. Always freehand so I’m gonna try some stencils.. still setting up. Some of my paints are still good to my amazement. Great video

      @@marymadalenem2351 Stencils and freehand shields are great tools to have in your arsenal. As awesome as the airbrush is, it does have limitations. I prefer to work freehand most of the time too, but when I need a super sharp line there is no substitute for a freehand shield or stencil.

    Good to see you back again Trevor, I done an eagle with you a few years back, it was my first attempt at airbrushing more than blending. I sent you a copy on an Email and you put me right on what to do with my mistake. It now hangs proudly in my daughter's home and everyone admires it. So, Thank You again. My grandson is now taking up the airbrushing, so I have pointed him in your direction.

    Alot of this was stuff I've learned thru trial and error. But some of the little tips really stand out, and will probably help (tape overspray dam was a cool idea).
    I'm going to sit down and try to make a von dutch flying eyeball stencil, and a real fire stencil.
    I bought a couple of sets that came with enough extra material around the edges that I can make at least a few of my own for 1/10 scale rc bodies. Was also thinking about trying to use some clear lexan for a couple stencils

    • @wickedartstudio
      @wickedartstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words! Yes, clear Lexan can be used for creating your own stencils and/or freehand shields. Really, just about anything can be used for that purpose. Anytime I buy a product that is packaged in a clear plastic material, I try to save the clear plastic for the same reason. It doesn't cost you anything extra, and if you mess it up, you'll have more material to try again.

    Much easier than learning all the different types of tools out there for creating design on any number of options...signs, billboards, windows, cars, etc. I was so into learning how to make my own stencils that I would make in layers..the first one would have the least detail and be mostly background then the last would maybe have lettering. I wanted to create stencils that would mimic decals but would be painted on. Meaning decals that would never peal. Then I was diagnosed w cancer and the better part of 18 yrs got away from me. Now I ha debilitating arthritis which is why I think the air brush will work so much better for me. I think it will really go well w my lack of dexterity. Ur video has made me remember where I wanted to go w somewhat of a career. Nothing wrong w starting at 53! I took a slight detour to treat my cancer. I literally never thought of trying to start now untill I ran into ur video. Wow that does look wicked! Much better if it's not completely symmetrical!

      I appreciate the kind words my friend! In the end, I think I'm okay with the length of the video too (except it takes a lot more time for me to create and finish). I was hesitant initially. At the time of this reply, the average view time is only just over twelve minutes in the analytics which doesn't look promising. Welcome back, in regards to positioning the angry eyes, maybe when doing the gum line you could also do the lower part of the nose socket this should give you enough reference for positioning the angry eyes if you lined up the nose socket from them as the sockets look to be close to the same size/shape if maybe not exactly the same as it's hard to tell on screen. Great video.

    • @wickedartstudio
      @wickedartstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Darren! Thank you for the kind words my friend! I initially thought the same as far as painting the nose socket, or a portion of it from the normal set of eyes first; however, the nose socket is a very different shape between the two options in order to fit the respective eye choice. The overall size of each choice is about the same, which is why I tried to use the line directly below the nose on the regular set of eyes to line up the angry eyes. Looking back, I think the angry eyes option would be more visually appealing if that line was omitted so the nose and eye sockets could be moved further down closer to the gum line. In the end, I think it turned out okay though.

  • @christophersmith-zn2kn
    @christophersmith-zn2kn ปีที่แล้ว

    As reference for eyes could you fog in the nose from bottom skull and use that to line up slanted eyes.

    • @wickedartstudio
      @wickedartstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, but it's still not exact due to the completely different shape between both eye choices. It will get you very close though.

    Hi, I just subbed bc your video seems very thorough and informative. I just bought a new kit on Amazon for $140. It arrives Thursday. One or two questions; what kind of paper are you using for the skull stencil and where can I get that stencil? Thank you for the info and video, pretty good eye opener on how easy this will be to teach myself. Or at least not impossible. Good info! It was okay to be long, I needed all those juicy deets anyways!

    • @wickedartstudio
      @wickedartstudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steve! I didn't use any paper stencils in this video; however, when I do create my own paper stencils, I generally use cheap 20-pound copy paper. You can purchase the same skull stencil I was using in this video here amzn.to/48io3Ry
      I am completely self-taught. So, it is absolutely possible to teach yourself how to airbrush. Using other tools and different techniques in order to compliment what the airbrush can do also makes it easier to produce amazing art for those that don't necessarily have a background in art or natural talent. If you have questions along the way, please don't hesitate to ask!

    I’ve just watched your video about air getting into your 4030. I have a 4 ounce bottle and have now changed the cap. I just wondered if you have tried the same caps and if it affected the air seal. It is a cap with a twist to open spout, I will post a photo when I figure out how! I also turn the paint etc upside down for a short while so it may form its own seal

      Hi Robert! I know what you're talking about as far as the cap with the twist cap is concerned. I don't know what they are called, but I do know what you mean :). For what it's worth, I'm relatively sure this issue has been resolved by Createx. I have four additional bottles of 4030 of various sizes that I ordered after creating those videos. What about using acetone free nail polish remover to remove paint?

    • @wickedartstudio
      @wickedartstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Acetone will definitely soften the paint. The paint can be removed with acetone as well with enough scrubbing depending on how cured the paint is (I use acetone to clean my airbrushes when they are really dirty). The downside is you'll likely remove more than you intend with an aggressive solvent like acetone. It could be done, but it would take some practice to perfect the technique. I'm not sure what chemicals are in acetone free nail polish remover. So, that product may or may not work as well.
