I remember when I was about 5yrs old that the neighbors were having a yard sale. I bought a napkin holder that matches the salt & pepper shakers w/ roosters youve shown here. Lol...I paid .05 for it! I guess I remember because it wzs probably the 1st thing I had purchased in my young life. I've got two old coffee tins, one is a 70s Folgers, the other is an A&p tin. I certainly use them to store my coffee. I believe in using these old items, so cool and makes my home feel like a museum.
I worked at Home Goods and when taught how to display merchandise, had a conversation that the rooster in the kitchen is good luck for plenty of food and the pineapple was for welcoming others to come and share it. If the pineapple is on a welcome mat its to welcome others in your home.
Yes, pineapples represent hospitality. I have an article on my website that talks about different fruit symbols, search still life paintings on my website if you are interested.
Dr. Lori Yay! Mine have the “S” and “P” for the holes. The front is a rooster that’s just black & yellow with a red beak and they both face the same way (not looking at each other). A simple vine design goes around the outside of the front. The bottoms have a woodpecker on a log. Inside the log it says Woodpecker ________ ? and underneath that it says Hand painted. Pat. Another GREAT video as always! Very informative and interesting. I wish TH-cam would give unlimited times to hit the like button, because believe me, I would hit the world record for hitting it so many times! Thank you Dr. Lori for all of your videos!❤️👍
OK Dr. Lori....I don't know how I stumbled onto you but thank God I did! I've subscribed to your channel and will definitely be watching. The way you break things down for the untrained eye is pure talent. Thank you for doing what you do. Keep it up. You never know who you are inspiring!
Loved this video. I remember back in the 1990s when a friend of my daughter didn't know how to tell time from a regular clock - because everything in her home was digital. I wonder if that's the case with young people today. 😆
Yes it is unfortunately, they can't tell time nor tie their shoes (velcro). Now this next batch of kiddos won't be able to read script (cursive) because it's been removed from the curriculum. Writing checks, thing of the past. I wonder if check books will be collected if so I am ahead of the game! Lol
Masterpiece was my favorite game as well. I've been helping my friend sell her Lego collection. I have been surprised by how much these factory sealed sets sell for and how quickly.
I made sure to check 3 different Lego sites before listing. I then set the price $10-$20 over what price I want. That way I have room to negotiate. I sold 6 large sets last week and made $1,000.
DR Lori you are the best! I need to know how you clean things. I don't want to shine things up just want to make sure its clean. I wish you would do a video on that. Thanks love your wit and humor.

Nice - informative, am I the only one who noticed (read quite a few comments, crickets) that someone had at the end, remembered to replace the tin! lol
Ha! Another Connecticutite! I’m a former Westport boy myself, and know about the rich manufacturing history of CT, especially with guns, but never knew about the clocks!
I am studying Dr Lori. Coffee cans! I have a very old hills brothers coffee can. It has the little ‘key’ which turned sound the top to open the can. I can remember opening a can or two that way. You didn’t need a can opener. How does that affect the value? Or does it affect the value. I know that when I was a child people would keep coffee cans a cigar boxes. The one I have was for curtain paraphernalia. But I have some cigar boxes which have old check stubs.
Masterpiece is hard to find. I have one and also loved playing it as a kid. Still do, but no one wants to play with me either. :( The one I found cost me like $75 and that was over 10 years ago.
Thank you Dr. Lori! Nice to see a table of different items to look for with their approximate values. I have some Swarovski Crystal Owls and Mice still packed away in their round containers. I have had them since the late 80s. I'm a reseller so it's time to get them out. Thanks again!

Sorry you were distracted. It was not admins. Simply others at the live show.
@@TIFANISTCLAIR Sorry again, it was not admins.
Would love to see some info on Fenton hobb nail
Do you have some? Show me during my next Ask Dr. Lori LIVE video
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching and sharing!
I love ya Dr Lori....We get a standup comedy show and awesome antique advise and appraisal from you.....In the age of covid I find myself very tempted to remove the filth that you say to leave.....I know you are right and that I should never deny your VAST wisdom....And yet the urge still haunts me....
Love you!
I love that you ALWAYS have the gloves on! I worked in the custom framing business for a few years. I learned and I see documentaries where they are looking at books and or files with NO GLOVES! I cringe !
Thanks. Have you watched the video where I explain why I wear the gloves at th-cam.com/video/0gxhyPngbHI/w-d-xo.html
I look forward to watching your videos! Thanks for showing up for us 🤗
Thanks for watching! Got three more videos this week. Save the link th-cam.com/play/PL384695BCA1841B8F.html which always shows my most recent video first!
I'm going to keep an eye out for that Masterpiece game, when I thrift shop.
Love watching you and your sharing valuable information o flea market items.
Glad you like them!
Are the Rooster salt and pepper shakers available? I have the canister set.
I LOVED Masterpiece
Awesome video, Thank you for the great tips on items that are in my price range!
Glad it was helpful! Love to hear your feedback.
Thanks Dr. Lori, always love learning from your videos, and that one was just full of good useful info. Was that a chromatic harmonica, which can be worth more, no? Looking forward to the next video!
Condition was key to that harmonica, Gary.
I really love the video and all of the useful information you always bring to the table for us, take care of yourself be mindful of everything going on in the world now and protect yourself.
Thank you! You too take care! No pun intended about the table? As I appraised everything on it :)
Thanks for your service ❤️
Thanks for watching!
It was the character names and bios that got me on Masterpieces. You kinda impress me as the seven times married Dombrowski-Keyes.
I always had to get American Gothic in Masterpiece. No one else was allowed to! Loved that game.
That's funny how you put dibs on the Grant Wood painting.

Happy to hear it! Did you see my video yet where I appraise a piece of Fire King at th-cam.com/video/LE2plwIzh2Y/w-d-xo.html ?
Girl! I watched that video several times 😀 to freshen up on my dope skills LOL . It's cool to find a treasure when you're out thrifting but I like the history behind im not a seller i collect and reserch how life was the event that happened that changed the world. The 30s-50s
Seemd to be more in order then now 🤔 I think wish we could get a little of that back . I'm not trying to pry but this is really a history question did you studied or research the Bible all kinds of history there it amazing Artisans, builders, iron workers government , bankers it would be cool to find some pottery or anything from that time.. have a good night Dr lorie God bless you 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
OH MY STARS! I've been looking for that game! Most the people I know have no idea about this game.
Hey Dr. Lori, when will you be back in Florida? I spoke with you back in March. I was going to go to your show but was very sick. I invited you to come over to Melbourne to check out our Thrift store and to go to lunch. You weren't able to on that your. My name is Paula Santarelli. We spoke on FB. Anywho, I am so glad to see that you are doing well. It's always nice when one of your videos come out. I know I will learn something new from you. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I know the info I get from you is true and correct 😊. Please be safe and healthy ❣️.
Always check my schedule on my website to see where I'll be next. And don't miss my 3 new videos this week. Save the link th-cam.com/play/PL384695BCA1841B8F.html which always shows my most recent videos first.
I highly recommend you.
I tell everyone
Very informative!!! I always learn so much from you!!!! Yay!!!!
I'm so glad! Always nice to hear from you.
another terrific educational video...love ya Dr Lori
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
@@DrLoriV I always do ~First You are one smart cookie.. I am learning so much from your generous heart for telling the truth and not trying to steel away people's treasures, as many do and I love that you are from New England ...and you truly look like my niece and that is always a joy!!!
Another italian American here, Marie in CA...no camping!
Many factors affect value. I can help, but need to see pieces to verify what you really have and to identify those other factors.
Masterpiece is hard to find. I have one and also loved playing it as a kid. Still do, but no one wants to play with me either. :( The one I found cost me like $75 and that was over 10 years ago.
And yet another fun and info filled vid.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I bought my daughter the dog pull toy..in the 60s...it made an awful clacking sound when pulled... got put away quickly!
lol
My son had one....the neighbor dog chewed on his face...but stilled have it
I was born in 1964 and I remember having this Fisher-Price hound-dog pull toy! I wish I still had the amazing 1960's toys I had when I was very young!
I have the frog and had the dog.
Thank you Dr. Lori! Nice to see a table of different items to look for with their approximate values. I have some Swarovski Crystal Owls and Mice still packed away in their round containers. I have had them since the late 80s. I'm a reseller so it's time to get them out. Thanks again!
Happy to help the resellers make money!
You really pack so much great information into your videos!! 😊 Thank you
Glad you like them! Thank me by sharing links to videos with your favorite social media group and friends. The more everyone shares and subscribes the more time I can justify making videos every week.
I'm happy to find out my 75¢ salt and pepper shakers are worth more than I paid for them. They match the canister set I inherited from my aunt.
Hi Dr Lori. I love watching your video's . I have done a lot of antiqueing over the years. My husband and i did it together. He loved it as much as i did. He passed away 15 years ago so sorry to say i don't do it anymore. I miss it, but no fun without him. I love watching your video's cause i learn a lot and it is almost like going antiqueing, but i am not spending any money. Lol. With all the years i had been antiqueing and have grown children and we liked playing games, i never knew about the Masterpiece game. When did it come out? Around about. Thanks for all of your very informative video's. Fun watching them. :)
Sorry to hear about your husband. I am happy to hear you are enjoying the videos, but nothing beats shopping with a friend. The game came out around 1970.
@@DrLoriV Thank's for your reply. Yes, shopping with a friend would be nice. Also thank's for the information about the game. Funny i didn't know about it cause that is around the time we played games with our children. :)
Great video. I picked up some good info!. Thanks, Dr. Lori!
Glad it was helpful!
Any suggestions on valuing some Ruby Red glass?
Send me photos to value.
Wonderful educational segment 💜
Working on more like this :)
Dr. Lori Thank you ! 💜
I love your educational videos Thank you so much for sharing 😃
Glad you like them! Don't forget to share them too!
You are awesome! Great info. Thanks!
You are so welcome! Thank me and help others by sharing links to videos with others in your social media groups. I need more views and subscribers to justify my time and staff's time to make more videos for you all. So, if you'd like a new video everyday, everyone reading this needs to share links to my videos everywhere! And subscribe too.
That is a dish used for jewelry here in Arkansas ring holder. ..??what kind of game is that ???
