I still regularly play Top Spin 4 on my PS3 & Virtua Tennis 2 on my Dreamcast. I will pick this one up.

I also feel like the player's animation in gameplay, in particular running, in the video seems not as natural as the previous entry.
Be aware that the career mode is bound to online and that 2K plans on shutting down the game servers at the end of 2026 , so u are technically renting the game for 2 years for 60$

Yeah I turned off after that. Hard to take a review about a tennis game seriously when the person doing the review does not seem to even know the tennis scoring system. If you don't understand tennis how can you understand if a tennis game is good at what it's depicting or not?
TopSpin 4 on XBox 360 almost looks as good as this game. You would have imagined a bigger leap in 13 years!
truthfully yea. I didn't even know they went back that far but it looks good for a 10+ year old game. this on the other hand could've stayed in production longer.
Yeah it's really poor from devs over the last few years. This generation has been abit of a letdown
Such a bad decision to support last gen as well. I'm dissapointed how this game looks especially the character models and lighting. Gameplay looks clunky as well.
@Krampus6-1-6 agreed, I just checked on xbox and you have to pay 69 bucks just to get x/s. but how in God's name does that make any sense to do that🤦🏾♂️ I can buy the xbox one version for normal price but I don't even know if I can play it on the x/s if I were to get it.

I think it would be great if they added a "download players" option to this game. That way, we could download players created by the community. Playing a tennis game without the full roster is like playing a football game without Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, etc. The roster definitely needs to be improved.

Either paid by 2K or has no videogame knowledge whatsoever. The player models are PS2 quality and the animation barely any better. Disgraceful that this is $180 for the 'complete' package.

Very excited for the gameplay but I play Nba 2k as well and I know that their will be aggressive monetization.
But i only care for career mode, single player and maybe online matches.
Hope it sells well cuz those big ant tennis games are below average.
The single player career mode unfortunately looks barren, not worth investing in.
It’s a minor but why do the ball collectors not run across the line to collect the ball..add this extra animation to make it feel a bit realistic
Ill agree it takes some time 2 get ur timing and all the losses are worth it when you start winning simply because this game prepares you without you knowing ur getting better. Then slowly the timing starts coming around and the shots start looking like the ones you see urself hitting in ur dreams.
I love TopSpin 1 and 2 but couldn't get into 3 or 4, I did buy EA's Grand Slam 2 in 2012 and had a lot of fun with that but all the tennis games after have seemed meh, actually bought Virtua Tennis on PS Vita recently because modern games like Tennis World Tour, AO Tennis and Matchpoint simply weren't cutting it. Fortunately, that's all changed with TopSpin 2K25, easily the most fun I've had with video game tennis in a long time. I'm a big fan of the sport whether playing it in the real or watching on tv (even the smaller tournaments) and this game almost perfectly captures the spirit of it.
I played 2K12 and this looks so stiff, why are the players fully stationary until you click? They need to adjust the motion

Thanks for the review. A major concern that I read is that they will switch off the online servers for this game in 2026. I’ve not had a chance to check myself yet Anyone else done so or can confirm or deny this? Shocking if true, as i was really looking forward to a decent tennis game.
They have been doing this with NBA2k for years,every 2 years they cut servers off. Its bs.

I was thinking the same thing but I am more worried about them stating your player in my career with like a 20 overall and trying to force you to spend money on VC to be competitive
How are mechanics?
I’m finding it very laggy not smooth gameplay at all on PS5. Graphics terrible too. Faces very dark. Was looking forward to it so much but the horrible lag ruins any fun.

Gameplay looks good ..but clearly overpriced..grand slam should have been $79 and $39 for the standard..theres no way the standard should be $69..

Might have the superior gameplay that I loved from TS, but for career mode only. AO2 with every top 200 and venues is unmatched IMHO
NBA 2K has a large customisation suite and many people in that community creating arenas, teams, jerseys etc. Hopefully this game could be opened up the same way in the future?

Disappointed. Not a smooth game at all. Way too much lag makes it unenjoyable on PS5. Matchpoint plays better. The colours of the players faces are too dark. But the worst of all is the lag. Worst power serving of any tennis game. Impossible to pick a place to serve, the icon moves all over the place. So far Matchpoint way better. 4/10
I think somebody who had played TS4 may have been in a better position to review this, that way they can see just how of a lazy attempt it is. No innovation since TS4, the ball is still only direct with no swerve on slice shots, worse roster than TS4, annimation pause before hitting ball remains, line challeneges?, community creations? Nobody wants legend players (maybe Federer), they want to play as and against todays stars, player models coming at you from ps3. Just a very lazy port IMO.
