That's not true though. He was in the doctors office before the movie ever shows him having a connection to Marla because of his insomnia. The doctors office visit of which is why he started to go the support groups and therefore met Marla. Secondly they show Tyler in the doctors office scene suggesting he was having issues which were leading to the creation of Tyler already well before he met Marla. He is able to sleep for a brief period of time because of faking at the support group but we're suggesting here that the support groups were a permanent solution to his insomnia and lack of self respect, which seems ridiculous. Honestly all anybody ever had to do was say something to the guy and it probably would have had the same result because that's essentially all Marla did because her actions reflected his own and he didn't like it.

The movie kind of suggests that Tyler was already manifesting himself before Marla ever came into the picture. In fact it suggests this in the doctors office in which the doctor says he should go to the support group meeting which is why he met Marla. I'll go a step further and say that the movie should have been sinned for giving away it's big reveal before ever actually getting into the movie. By that I mean they noticeably show someone who is obviously Tyler blur in and out of the room like a glitched hologram sequence. In several scenes even. I love this movie but I also knew that Tyler wasn't real from the first reveal of Tyler for that exact reason.

Right off the bat, that first "sin" is absolutely wrong.
Marla is a major part of "Jack"s break with reality. He was a broken man barely clinging together and he had a coping mechanism, that she took from him. She shook part of his foundation and rocked the idea of who he thought he was leading to his split.
She isn't solely responsible, but she plays a major part in adding the final straw to the camels back. Her interference and stubbornness pushed him that last inch too far.
That's pretty clear if you actually watch the film, and it's very clear in the book. (Yeah the books don't matter... except they do. No book... No movie. Period.)

@Anjali Has nothing to do with her being a woman. Don't put words in my mouth, and don't assume you know know my meaning.
Women can be assholes just the same as men. A selfish person, is a selfish person. Skin color, gender, religion, or wealth all have nothing to do with it.
Stop trying to shoehorn your specific insecurities into something that had absolutely NOTHING to do with gender.
The entire point of Fight Club is a look at how shitty people avoid their problems until they become big problems.
You obviously didn't understand my comment because my implication was that Marla was important to the story. Maybe not for glamorous princess reasons like you might like, but she's important to the story being told. If you look at a woman faking _testicular_ cancer to make herself feel better by making fun of the victims and don't think she's a shitty person.. I honestly think you have issues. She's a thief, a drug addict, a liar and manipulative beyond belief. She's a severely damaged and selfish person and her gender has absolutely nothing to do with any of it.
Go polish your feminism badge somewhere else, because injecting your own issues into a conversation unprompted is a very Marla Singer thing to do... not a good look.

From the very beginning they don't realize why the narrator blames Marla, despite the fact that it's what the entire movie is about. Marla going to support groups caused his insomnia to return, which caused him to develop Dissociative Personality Disorder in the form of Tyler Durden, which is what inevitably caused him to shoot himself in the face.

Most of these sins are a massive stretch and are either intentional or explained. The 1st and 2nd rule of fight club being broken were acknowledged by Tyler and was created to get people to start breaking the rules, he also broke the rules by him beating Jared Leto even after he tapped out. The product placement is intentional also to show that it’s everywhere and shows they actually have something to rebel against.

Man the fight scene always bugged me. I mean everything e,se can be maybe explained away by him seeing Tyler when there was no-one actually there, but the fight scene where the random guys talk to them asking to fight as well, the line "hey can i get some of that? Always bugged me because they must have seen him beating the crap out of himself and said oh well let's see if he minds if we beat him up instead.

No. Instead, every one of them answered the phone by quoting the number address of the building... while not including the name of the street it was on. What company lets their dingbat employees answer the phone this way???
