My mom had a Nissan Altima for a long time and I loved that car. Strong 4 cylinder, very roomy and quiet, good steering feel. I saw one of these on the street on Monday and it looks pretty good to me.
Nissan did bring a lot of innovations to main stream, they did push button start and CVT for many years now. SV is my favorite trim fore most models they make simply can't get another model at that type of street price price point. CVT is great, drives fine, you only notice it when you push it to the limit and even then you get the advantage of keeping RPM high.
Man, I wish more midsize and compact sedans offered all wheel drive. I mean, I know Subaru does that, but I really think Honda, Toyota, and Nissan would really blow Subaru out of the water if they offered all wheel drive too.
+John Appleseed It would not be practical of the manufacturers to do so. First, the point of these cars is to have more room (especially more so for compact segment cars) but putting AWD means more mechanicals which not only intrude in interior space, it adds weight as well - thus worsening fuel economy (not good for these segments!!!) Second, the manufacturer does not take custom orders like a high-end exotic manufacturers like Bentley, Rolls-Royce, so they build cars they think they'll sell the most. The factory needs to know how many of what trim cars they need to build, and with AWD in the mix, it's just a choice to too many trims and too many options and they'll waste money on a specific build of a car that not many people will buy. Mainstream dealerships for Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, etc... do not call the factory to custom build any cars. That's why dealers have network and connection with other dealers to call each other to trade vehicles (e.g. "My customer needs Nissan Altima 3.5L, we have 2 Altima's with 2.5L cars, could we trade?") if they need them. Third, it's just not that useful. Trust me, as a Canadian living in Ontario (where it snows like hell), it's not even needed. It pisses me off when people think AWD will get them through winter, but it's such bs. The *winter tires* are what REALLY gets anyone through winter. I owned '15 Mazda6 and & '16 Mazda3 (both FWD, 2.5L), and I've gotten through both winters fine. All you need is a really sturdy, reliable, and dependable set of winters, and you'll be fine. Even on my RAV4, AWD is just rendered useless... FWD does the job fine. AWD wastes fuel most of the time anyways.
Watched the whole video, not for the car(Nissan is what Hyundai was 20 years ago as compared to the rest) but for the orator! Great job Dave. You did a fantastic job!
Love the laughs Dave "you can easily fit your typical Everymandriver in the trunk" please do more trunk comparisons like this again thank you Dave great job keep doing Nissan lol #everymandriver
I got to drive one today it handles really nice! It's styling is a little weird to me and the steering wheel is a little thin other than that I can't complain. Very roomy great job Nissan and great review as always Dave
My last rental was a 2016 Altima with only 1,000 miles on the clock. I usually wouldn't rate a car based on a rental since people trash rental cars but this was new. Adding to ED's review. Trunk is large but 3 26" suitcases were a tight fit. Seats were decent with good comfort and support but my Volvo seats are much better. I found the car noisy on the road compared to other mid-sized cars I drove. The engine struggled with normal acceleration and frankly sounded anemic and bad. Handling was competent, no sports car but good control for spirited drive. Much better than earlier Nissans I drove that had numb handling. Seems like a solid value for a good all-around car but I'd probably get a Mazda 6 over the Altima.
Altimas and Ford Fusions have much higher than average fleet sales, to keep sales numbers competitive. About 30% of them are sold to businesses. Still a good entry, but the sales numbers are inflated.
Hopefully Nissan has addressed the reliability issues with the Altima's. Nice looking from the front. maybe a little bit vanilla from the side and back.
Could you also include your first impression on the materials used on the interior such as Dashboard and door panels? Does it feel cheap? Also your opinion on how everything fits together would be nice.
Nissan will conduct its third Altima recall in three years next month, all of which will have addressed the same issue: faulty hood latches. Worldwide, nearly 930,000 2013 through 2015 Altimas, including 846,000 that were made and sold in the U.S., will be affected by the recall. Nissan dealers will replace the latches, which tend to rust once their protective coats of paint chip off, free of charge.
If there are last gen Altima's available, I'd rather go for that. This new model is pretty much the same on the inside and its really disappointing. We owned the last gen for a while, and the interior is nice but it is just outdated looking now. A bit plain, and the cup holders are poop. The most that fits inside is a medium cup of DD coffee! Try fitting a large soft drink and you'll have trouble with it. Sad to see largely the same cup holders in the new Altima. Other than my minor gripes with the interior, the car was great anyway. Great fuel economy and the car was always smooth! It was a comfortable ride as well. One thing I do wish, as did another commenter below, was that midsize and compact sedans offered AWD. Only Subaru seems to do AWD on their sedans and other manufacturers need to do this! What else do you think about it Dave? Would you ever see yourself daily one of these?
Love your reviews. Any chance there will be a drive, possibly an SR model? Would love to know how the new SRs compare to the older coupes' suspensions. Thanks for the vids!
+Blake Ballard Unfortunately not with the dealership cars... if and when Nissan loans to me again, I'll be able to do a full 'review' - Dave, Everyman Driver
just recently purchased a 2016 Nissan Altima and we had a lot of rain out here in the Southern California why is the driver side car completely flooded with water you don't want the small this puddles water was squirting in very disappointed
I appreciate the familial similarity...Does it have to be so overdone and pointless?? Saw this model yesterday in the flesh and thought the front end had been damaged...the hood and headlights strangely askew...Don't want my new car to be perceived like that ever!
Its just an altima. Nothing to get excited about. You have better seats along with better interior designs in Honda's. Nissan will never be as good as Honda
Got my Altima SL for just over 22k so yeah for that price point Honda isn't even in the same league, plus you can melt in the Nissan leather seats never done that in any Honda I've say in.
Wow, that's not even the bottom trim? You have to pay another $10k to get a trim with a 7" display? NISSAN, you have an interior worse than the Honda Fit!
I just got a 2016 Honda Accord Sport with CVT. I hate the CVT but Honda has done a great job with it. It feels good in city driving. The Sport trim comes with paddle shifters which simulate shifting and works great. You can down shift or upshift when you desire. Not sure if it holds the revs up high or upshifts. But I know it down shifts for you if you don't. Love the LEDs, 19 inch wheels and the black out interior. The sound system could be better. Definitely check it out. They also offer a 6 speed manual which are rare.
By far one of the worst interiors in an Altima. This used to be a really great car now its just horrible. Just my opinion of course, the exterior looks worse than last year as well.
I think the center stack is more attractive. I hated the real shiny plastic that looked so pron to scratches. Also I think the cloth seats look waaay better. The other ones look very boring to me. Just my thoughts.
+dee k just Google "NISSAN ALTIMA TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS" there are hundreds of complaints, if not thousands about people having to replace their transmissions before 60k miles. Many are replacing them several times before 100k miles
+dee k i rented a 2015 altima for 3 weeks and i loved it. excellent handling, excellent mpg. i was looking into buying one until I READ ABOUT ALL THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. .
+dee k absolutely not true, yes there are hundreds of complaints about those brands too, but it's always for different years and different issues, usually very minor issues. with the Altima 2013 and up almost everyone is in sync having the same transmission issues and Nissan won't stands behind their product.
nissan use to be fun cars back in the day! now they are NOT! the car is doing too much nd it just looks like all the same like the max! CVT!?!? UGH BORING!!! that takes the fun away! nissan has faild us once AGAIN! smh #NEXT

John Appleseed You're welcome. I know it's long, but once you get through my comment, you'll understand what I'm saying! :)
I did, I completely understand. Thanks again man :)
Watched the whole video, not for the car(Nissan is what Hyundai was 20 years ago as compared to the rest) but for the orator! Great job Dave. You did a fantastic job!
You can't compare Nissan with Hyundai now way!!!! Nissan is a quality known car manufacturer. You probably never own one.
Not a Nissan fan myself, but love the variety that is coming to this channel!
Nice video Dave! Nice car as well. Definitely look forward to seeing you cover more Nissans.

Just picked up my 2016 Altima SR!
How do/did you like it?
Altima has heated seats with buttons on the seat. Yes. those are optional.
A 7 or 8 inch touch screen display is available if you go for the technology package
Could you also include your first impression on the materials used on the interior such as Dashboard and door panels? Does it feel cheap? Also your opinion on how everything fits together would be nice.

Altima to Camry and Accord: Take that I'LL be on top too BITCHES!
Good video Dave! I enjoy your reviews bro, keep them Coming.

I have that exact rental car right now!
Looks like a plus sized Sentra.
When you get the chance please do the all new Nissan Titan!!!
almost at 100k (cant wait for you to do media car loan emails again) hopefully manufacturers are nice enough and give you press cars
What's more comfortable; Buick Seats, or Nissan Seats?
wow, great leg room in the back!

Congrats on 100k subs man.
+Hiru M Thank YOU!
First and great editing!!!!
And I also agree about AWD.
I want one, but Im scared to get one because of all the stories I hear online about the transmission failing
ClumzyOne dont
I just got the 3.5 SL and its fast and the new CVT is much better than the older unit
I like the body but hate how they use cheap looking plastic on steering wheel
Can u get a Nissan GT-R
Like the maxima better asnit comes in AWD. Even better, the Maxima wagon(murano)
This car looks very nice!
is this available in manual? i hate CVT
Hey Dave, could you please make a first look on the 2016 Subaru Legacy top level? Thanks.
Can you do a review on the 2016 Maxima?
just recently purchased a 2016 Nissan Altima and we had a lot of rain out here in the Southern California why is the driver side car completely flooded with water you don't want the small this puddles water was squirting in very disappointed
You gotta be kidding me, this is Full zise car.
loving this Altima then the past gen, just kills me to hear cvt more often in Nissan Product
Doesn't kill to know they get 39mpg lol.
With this much interior space and the V6 available... why would anyone buy a Maxima?
Maxima has a panoramic sunroof on top trims, heated and cooled seats and 300hp on the 3.5 V6. It's an all-around more luxurious car than the Altima.
30 Grand! No way I'll buy an Accord for way less.
Only the LX and Sport versions of the Honda would cost less.
I appreciate the familial similarity...Does it have to be so overdone and pointless?? Saw this model yesterday in the flesh and thought the front end had been damaged...the hood and headlights strangely askew...Don't want my new car to be perceived like that ever!
Why so many trim levels?
+Victor C. I think he is also counting the 3.5 variants as trims too, like 2.5 SL and 3.5 SL as separate

DO THE 2016 CIVIC EXT OR ACCORD SPORT

lol. I axed you delivered.. thanks.
Interior is dated. They go to the wrong direction. They need to change interior not outside
please, stop saying 'booya', it's cringeworthy
Lol when he said erect
Very good car.
By far one of the worst interiors in an Altima. This used to be a really great car now its just horrible. Just my opinion of course, the exterior looks worse than last year as well.
+Acuravigor47 Agreed
They look much better in the higher trims.

Acuravigor47 my 2014 alti looks better than this facelift. 2016 -17.
Why do nissan design their cars this way..... sorta looks toyish
they have transmission problems, going back at least to 2013, and Nissan won't take responsibility. . Google it

dude you have to check out the 16 Mazda 6. Too gorgeous
HORRIBLE car!!! The old version (2013-2015) and version (2008-2012) is more beautiful.
