It's nice to hear what a legendary actor sounds like in real life!

Bruce seems to have had a very interesting life with all the parts he's played & the people he's met.
He's another person who has nothing but great things to say
    about Michael 😌

Dern was a very good a actor and athlete. I know people who worked with him way back and they all got along well on Bonanza. What he said at the end is something that is very poignant and honest, “There is no respect for what went before.” Dern was referring to the Hollywood business when he worked in it and it was such a great thing to be involved in. The garbage Hollywood is churning out for the last three decades is worthless and nothing like what was accomplished in the Golden Age of television. Have respect for what was made so well and for all ages by the good actors who worked hard to make it such a memorable moment in your life. I’m sure Michael Landon would agree with that. 😊

I briefly met Bruce Dern at then , Southern Utah State College , in 1986. The student union had him as a guest. He was there to do an inspiration speech for the students. From what I remember , he shared his spirit , humor and zest for life. Glad he is still around and saying some great memories , keep going Bruce ! Happy New Year 2023. The only guy who killed John Wayne , then Bruce said ''but they love me at Berkley''.

I seen Bruce sprinting down the street while I was surveying a house near his in 2005. He came over and asked for a distance from his gate to a driveway. He talked with us very nice man. I told him Dennis Weaver was a very good runner and Bruce said he couldn’t touch him. I wanted to talk more but I was with my boss anyway the story goes we used to work out at the YMCA. That’s young punks and there’s a guy there that always said he was an actor. He was really cool guy said he did soap operas Vegas with Robert Urich other shows or movies But the young punks said yeah he does pornos but lo and behold got five years later I’m watching TV and there’s my friend opening up the door for Gary Busey in some movie and I forgot my friends name and I forgot the movie but I wanted to bring it up because actors aren’t given much respect, especially this guy

I love that Jack Nicholson story that he told in a long interview. Nicholson was the director, and in one of the scenes Bruce decided to do a little something extra in a scene to make him more noticeable, and after the scene was over, Nicholson gathers the crew around an says " That, ladies and gentlemen, was a Dernsey. The man snaps his fingers, and the audience pays more attention to his character. We don't do that shit around here."

This is so nice I had no idea that Bruce Dern and Michael Landon had met when they were both doing high school track & field. I've watched a few career-retrospective type interviews with Bruce Dern and even in his middle 80's he is sharp and funny and has the memory of an elephant, recalling the names of crew and supporting cast members from movies that he did going back 60 years!

Wow the fact that they were both high school track and field stars at the same time! I read he wanted to go to the Olympics just like Michael. Then for them to both go into acting and for him to appear in Michael's show. Awesome. Impressed to hear from Bruce about Michael's love for his kids even at such a young age, pre Bonanza. His care for his crew too. That must've been legendary in Hollywood. How wonderful were his words to you at the end about your appreciation for what's gone before? No finer way to do it than in preserving the legacy of Michael Landon.

Michael Landon was a fantastic track and field athlete as a javelin thrower where he earned a scholarship to USC for it. Unfortunately, he hurt himself bad (tore his shoulder ligaments) and lost his scholarship. He was discovered working at a gas station in LA pumping gas and thankfully a talent scout needed gas and Michael helped him that day. The rest is history. Became Micheal Landon -- he changed his name soon after. From seeing it in a phone book. His birthday is soon.. Oct. 31st. A true legend!

He's gotten 2 Oscar nods, but he should've had at least 2 more for "The Cowboys" (1972) and "The Great Gatsby" (1974). "Silent Running" is as close to a perfect film as has ever been made, and Bruce is amazing in it!

I am sorry but I cannot believe that this is Bruce dern until he started talking about the javelin and I knew that's true back in the late 50s that's what he did then he talked about the movie will penny with Charlton Heston and a lot of people don't know this but on the TV screen he was the first and only person the shoot and kill John Wayne in a cowboy movie I think it was called the cowboys or the young cowboys but he's a damn sure good actor he always played the reviews a jerk or a bad guy you don't get out there so I can anymore thank you Bruce dern thank you very much from Southeast Georgia

Very 😎cool. Big fan of the fugitive and mind him in an episode. Wonderful actor, "Hang 'am High" 1968 with Clint, he's superbly slimy in that. Saw him recently in "peanut butter falcon", I forget, he was best thing in the movie. Love hearing anecdotes from classic actors. Last comment spot on...fans very fickle I think nowadays and don't appreciate actors from decades gone. He seemed so amiable. Amazing how you got this. He must be in his 90's like Clint.

I always refer to Bruce Dern as , "boy". Not in a disrespectful way. He just always called everyone, boy, in a mean way. When Clint called him boy , in hang em high, it was so funny. I like to paint and I'm working on a western painting of many of the good guys and bad. I sure would like for Bruce Dern to see it. He sure made them classic westerns, classic. Happy new year Mr.Dern. I ain't gonna call you boy. I just tell others, " hey, boy is in this movie, let's see who he calls boy in this one." He even called Matt Dillon, boy!
