    Hi, used for the first time yesterday! Loved it! Used 8/98 at the basin to cancel out warmth in balayage pieces - worked like a dream! I observed it and only left on for 5 mins (I didn’t want it to darken any further) will wait to hear back from client regarding the longevity. It’s felt so soft afterwards - great shine.

    I love using the 9/81 with 9/07 shine finity with a bit of 8/98 perfect blonde colour and toner seems to last longer and not fade gold

    I’ve been using SF for a couple of months and I’ll sum it up the way Beth Minardi would. Alkaline demis like Color Touch have a finish that is very opaque like coffee w cream in it. They are great for lowlights bc they last forever and can cover grey 100% mixed in her method, and correcting harder to neutralize underlying pigment like copper. But they tend to rough the hair up a little more bc they are alkaline and can bump the base. SF starts out slightly alkaline and comes down to acidic towards the end, and has a finish more sheer like a glass of ice tea, u can see through it. It’s great for refreshing mid lengths while u have the regrowth formula on bc it’s so gentle. It’s great for blonds w/o worrying ur over toning and it going dark. They are also great for root shadows bc they lift out much easier than a CT RS would. I recently toned a warm balayage that had contributing 8,9, and 10 reflects with equal parts 9/61 and 7/81 for the full 20 min and it gave it a very pretty multitonal neutral to controlled warm finish - so it didn’t totally matten it in the same way a similar CT formula would. Also the full 20 min is needed to process for the advertised longevity and to match the swatch intensity imho.

      Marvellous insight, great that you’ve been enjoying it. Shinefinity was developed to fit into the gloss/glaze category, something Wella was missing in their portfolio…hence why I’ve made the comparison to SEQG.

      TYSM for your comment!! I recently bleached my dark brown hair and I'm trying to go to strawberry blonde. It's my first time bleaching so everything is very overwhelming even though I'm not a stranger to dying my hair. I've been at a standstill trying to figure out the toning part. I want to remove brassiness but strawberry blonde is obviously very warm so I'm confused how to go about it. I want it to be multi-tonal with lowlights and highlights. Since I bleached with Wella Blondor I thought I'd keep it in the same brand & use CT for the toner. But there is so much fuss about shades EQ. Which is overwhelming and confusing. I also want to do a shadow root & I'm about 1/3 gray. I'm taking a screenshot of your comment and I will keep it in mind. Very hard to find any info on color touch vs shades EQ.

    Disclaimer: Not a stylist I just work at a place that sells color etc. and I have access to professional products through a sister corporate pro store. To learn more than the company provides I have been watching literally hundreds of videos now and trying things on my own hair. To get some purple out of my hair I did a bleach bath - my hair apparently loves bleach because my natural level 3 hair got to about a 7 coppery with the bleach bath. I used the SF 05/98 and loved it! I am about 2.5 weeks out and do not follow prime care (very warm showers and wash 3-4 times a week) my hair is still shiny and the color has of course faded a bit, love it at the moment the /98 was able to cancel out the brassiness I had from the BB. I am going to continue to play with the SF for the next few months focusing on the 05/whatever to 07/something or other to see what I can get out of the hair. In my shop we do sell the made for consumer use Wella products and it is fun to compare the 2.

Just turned my hair pink recently into a salon, but I definitely hate to go too often and am looking for a product that I could use at home to make some touch ups between 2 appointments (I'm not afraid to educate myself though)

    Hi, Craig! I’ve been using REDKEN shades eq mauve rose but it’s getting harder and harder to get it here in Germany so I thought about changing products. I don’t want just a pastel pink… I want this dusty rose that I had with the REDKEN. Is it the Wella Shifinity glaze pink a good option? Also, I still have the REDKEN developer that I used to mix with the shades eq. Could I use it with the shifinity? Thank you xoxo!

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Ursula, thanks for watching. I would probably suggest you stay with SEQG to be honest, SF is a different type of demi-permanent and you might not get a similar result. You can probably replicate the shade you’re using by mixing other shades….I’m afraid I can’t suggest a new formula without seeing you in person - the pastel with something else could be an option??? I would strongly advise that you only ever mix designated developers with colour lines, you could get very unpredictable results otherwise

      Hi Deborah. Shinefinity doesn’t have enough “energy” to lift the hair - its a “zero lift” demi permanent. The same can be said of Shades EQ….where you mixing it with the designated Processing Solution…?

    • @sl1090

      I have been using EQ Shades gloss for over a year now and it always turns brassy (defies the purpose of toning). Sometimes almost immediately. I suspect that the products I ordered from Amazon might have been fake or maybe kept in unsuitable conditions. I can't explain it otherwise. I use their processing solution (gel version) and it almost never turns as the images and videos online.
      I mostly use combinations of 06T Iron and 06N Moroccan Sand to get ash brown tone close to my natural colour for my root tap. Sometimes it adds a little tone that washes out after like 3 washes or sometimes it just lifts my natural hair into a warmer version without adding and darkness or ashiness. I have even had like a red undertone or something and after washing out it reflected copper type of colour underneath or through the toned parts of the hair.
      My natural hair is about level 6 ashy brown and I have bleached them for over 10 years. I just want a cool tone for my root tap, that's all. Need alternative.

      @theworldofcraig  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @sl1090 Hi there, thanks for watching.
      Sorry you’re not getting the result you’re after - perhaps they weren’t genuine?!
      Shades EQ does contain semi permanent and demi permanent pigment - so what you’re seeing washing out could be the semi permanent…? Really hard for me to say without seeing your hair.
      You could perhaps try the NA instead of the N - but the T is pretty powerful as is.
      I’ve never (in 25 years of using the line) experienced any lifting of base with Shades EQ, there simply isn’t enough “energy” (at room temp) for it to do so.

    Hi I bleach my hair more now and have gone blond to avoid having to continuously cover my grays... However I'm also really pale and I feel like this blond washes me out completely and so I really love the shadow root against the blond but I hadn't been doing it because it was so rough on the hair every time my hairdresser needed to add highlights again at the crown. So my question is , would this be a better option for a shadow root and could I keep that up myself?

      @theworldofcraig  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, thanks for watching. Shinefinity is a great line for a shadow root - whether you could apply it yourself is really up to you…

    So I used to have light brown roots and blonde mids and ends my hair dresser put shinefinity on and it turned dark brown… now I wonder if it will come out all the way or if I can do something to make it come out?

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, thanks for watching. It’s hard to be exact without seeing you hair (so many variables!) Shinefinity is a demi permanent, so it will (the porosity of the hair plays a part) fade with shampooing. The biggest and safest tip I could give you would be to use the warmest water you can bear (please don’t burn yourself!) and a clarifying shampoo.

      You certainly can. There isn’t enough “energy” in the product to do your hair any damage. Always follow the manufacturers guidelines.

      @@theworldofcraig My experience is that both EQ and Shinefinity do cover about 70% of my gray - I'm brunette with a bit of natural red tone as it grows out and about 50% gray currently - I love the shine and the slightly transparent color I get with both. Shinefinity seems to cover better than EQ (been using it for a year, used EQ for around 6 years). Other than needing heat with EQ (but not Shinefinity) both work well in my experience.

      @paulieproffett Hi there, thanks for watching, I’m so glad you get the result you’re after, that’s great! I personally wouldn’t recommend applying heat to Shades EQ Gloss as it changes the deposit, which could give a regrowth - the U.K. directive from Redken (I don’t work for the brand, I’m just a SEQG STAN) is to process at room temp….in the US lots of folks use heat. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight.

    Hello Craig, I am recovering my hair from having a chemical bleach burnt and a "bleach cut" with a reckless hairstylist. Now, My hair is not colored anymore (virgin hair) and I am legit scared to get a lift... I just want a clear gloss, so do you think I could use the shinefinity 2% developer with the 00/00 to get a shine boost? Should i get a patch test before or I should be fine?
    Thank you so much! I have been binge watching your videos and they are very informative 👌
