Becca I'm coming up on 55 years of growing indoor plants and there will always be plants that fail but you learn something about the plant world, yourself ...or both each and every time. ❤
I have a tip regarding anthurium seeds/seedlings! I keep mine in Tupperware boxes, and I’ll upgrade the size of the container as they grow. It’s easier to keep them all together, and for the most part you don’t need to worry about watering them. ☺️
Thanks for this. Instead of thinking I am a failure plant Mom. I like to think that I am learning from every plant that I have or at least experience. I don't feel bad about chopping & propping for a fresh start as well which means that they didn't actually die.
Becca! Some your tiny anthurium seedlings if you don’t already until they have a decently established root system and leaves are sized up to about 2-3 inches then start opening the dome more and more day by day. It might take a bit but it’s a sure fire way for them to survive and grow well for you once they are out of to e dome.
When I think of the year end plant loss I hear the opening music to The Young and the Restless in my head. We are having a very mild winter here in Chicago this year and my sister stopped by after work while I was in the shower and brought me a Philodendron Golden Crocodile from a Walmart they were just unpacking. She says she saw it and thought "That looks like a little weird guy D. would want" lol. I'm like how did you get him here??? Was he wearing a little coat and hat? I've never gotten a plant into my house in January so I think it's a lucky sign of 2025 being off to a great start.
I love these videos! So great to normalize that we all have plants that don't make it. You could make these multiple times a year and I'd watch all of them lol
These always make me feel SEEN. The only plant that was really sentimental to me was my big Lacey monstera deliciosa (first comment). I got her from grocery store early in my plant journey. She was very small and grew so fast and SO big. After we moved a year ago she has slowly declined. Leaves turning brown and just looking bad. I chopped the new growth and have that restarting, so not a TOTAL loss, but still breaks my heart that her full glory is gone. I have all her wet sticks in a prop box so maybe one day……..
Anthurium seeds need high humidity, consistent warmth, gentle light and basically zero airflow. Next time try to put them in a tote or a seedling tray with a cover (highly recommend bc it keeps the roots separate) and I bet you’ll have better success. I know in the past you’ve said you don’t like moss but I find moss to be very successful at germinating seeds and growing out seedling. Hope you try again!
Concerning your seedlings, did you feed them? They need quite a bit of plant food and light after the first leaf. Clairanerviam do take longer to grow but I've found food and a lot of light to be the key for me.
Lost a few because they were struggling, causing me stress and easier to find now. Not worth the stress. Sometimes it is easier to start with a happy and healthy plant.
So many good ones didnt make it for me too. Had a major move and th biggest losses were my Anthuriam Luxurians and my Monstera Aurea. They were beautiful and thriving but hated change. RIP big guys
I look forward to this every year lol
Same!
lol!! Hope you enjoyed ❤️

Moving, motherhood and life in general are all hard! Glad you’ve learned to give yourself a break. On the plus side - you didn’t kill and fittonia!
Yes, plant purges are well and alive lol, that's where most of my collection has been from.
Don't give up on that Regale! It might surprise you.
Just before you commented on your hair being flat, I was thinking it looks fantastic!
love your funeral makeup this year! 😊
I don't celebrate the holidays so I stop watching TH-cam videos in December. But thankfully the holidays are about over so back to TH-cam I go😊
I dont even watch plant content anymore but i saw this and immediately clicked because i love your plant funerals 😅

At the start of this video I was thinking I didn’t kill anything this year. At the 2 minute mark I’m thinking oh wait yes there were some deaths.
Can you share the big rolling pot? I feel like I may need something similar soon 🙈
Yes we still do purges! I sell and buy. 🙃🥰
You’ve inspired me… I’m laying to rest my moss-rose purslane. She’s ugly now and it’s time😅 rip plant babies
I really should keep a list of plants that became unalived. I feel like 2024 had a lot for me, too.
"Who tf am I" took me out, cuz same🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Oh nooo the mama monstera 😭😭
All the plants I tossed(composted) this year I also propagated so they live on ➰
