I’m claiming the swim straight as my idea. I purchased the originals in 2022 after my first open water Olympic distance triathlon which was a complete disaster. I loved the security of knowing how far I had gone, that was a game changer for me and eased my anxiety in open water. I sent them a review and recommended basically this feature because my swim “technique” added too many yards to the swim. They replied that was a great suggestion. I don’t care if they were already working on that feature, I’m taking all the credit. 😂😂. This looks awesome. I wasn’t looking to upgrade, but this might make me.
This is a great idea that you gave them. I wonder what happens when you swim and have to change directions and if it calibrates towards your on-the-go sighting as opposed to an original marker. I’m really curious as to how this works.
@@victoryu7820the sighting feature provides only a compass, not a fixed directional guide you set up for a specific bearing, so you’ll just need to know basic compass reading to be able to use it as per your new direction you want to maintain
Great review! Been using FORM for 3 years and have seen the feature set grow to include workouts, w/ TrainingPeaks imports, and HEADCOACH. They've made pool workouts a breeze. However, the visibility has never been great so I've never ended up using them for open water. Might have to give these another try with the swim straight feature.
Thanks for the informative video but I must admit that the subscription cost to use any of the workouts (even to program your own), as well as to get the compass heading is a business model that I won’t support. I hate having to pay for a product and then having to pay each month to use it! That’s a big no for me.
They are CURRENTLY allowed mostly because the regulations have not been specifically written regarding a compass in the goggles. When the rules do catch up to the technology, who knows if they will be allowed in the future. I think a lot will be dependent on how much of an advantage the compass actually provides for sighting vs. the traditional method. If it is a big advantage, I suspect it will become illegal in the future. Until then, FORM has made very worthy improvements.
Hola, me gustan mucho estas gafas estaba por comprarlas, pero tengo una duda, sufro de Presbicia, osea no veo bien de cerca, tu crees que eso afecte la visibilidad de los datos de las gafas ????
They are amazing. The only downside I had and everyone I know that’s got a pair is they simply don’t sync with your Garmin watch for open water swimming. If they fix that issue it’ll be amazing.
Hey Travis, THX for the review! You got my heads up! I have the FORM 1. HR and COMPAS are seriously cool!! Do you still need to connect the FORM 2 to a GARMIN watch (or else) when you do open water swims to catch your distance? Apart: sounds good. Saludos from Hamburg, Foli
question - will people who are middle aged and need readers like me to see things that are close, be able to even use these? I normally have to hold things at least an arms length away from my field of vision to be able to actually see, otherwise it's all blurry.
Great review Travis! I'd love to win a pair of the FORM goggles (maybe, I"m not tech savvy but you have me convinced that they're dummy-proof, no slight intended lol!), but not enough to get onto Instagram. I have more than enough social media in my life already, but appreciate these giveaways! Hopefully the next sticks to TH-cam, hint, hint. God bless, Megan
Hey Megan! I will definitely add your name to the giveaway drawing! - I should have thought about that possibility. Good for you - I am not a fan of Instagram!
@@thedailytri Oh thanks so much Travis, that's very kind! 🤩 I'm really interested in the swim straight feature too as I swim "blind"--just use regular goggles and I have one far sighted eye and one near sighted eye and astigmatism in both so really wonky vision, hehe. I always just pray the buoys are REALLY big/bright! 😁
I would suggest skipping these and getting underwater headphones. They are a game changer for breaking up the boredom of lap swimming. For me, more swimming gets me better at swimming, not training plans or swimming to heart rate. Headphones get me in the pool more often and make the sessions longer.
1. This sighting feature feels like cheating but also, I want it ahahahaha 2. I hope these really are anti-fog. My current pair is about a year old and they fog up within 30 mins even though I rinse them with freshwater after every swim 🥺
As an ordinary swimming enthusiast, I choose Holoswim, which has no subscription fees and offers good functions.

Love it! I think the swim straight feature is going to help so many people with their confidence in the water.

Cool video for an equally cool product. I wish the lenses were mirrored but they still look like a solid buy
Thanks Chris! They actually are mirrored!
Amazing goggles!! Brilliant video as usual 😊
exciting!

Cool tech but Form requiring a paid subscription for all the best features is a no-go.
Heater of a video! Form makes some good stuff, I would love to have a pair for my first open-water swims coming up in the next few months
You're in!
Great video, thanks. Do you know how the compass works? Does it change alignment when you make turns towards a new target, like in a race?
Yes it does! It works with a magnetometer just like in aircraft
You're in Bellingham? I'm in Camas Washington. Looking forward to filming something with you some day Travis!
Yes I am! I really look forward to it - although I worry about my skills vs. yours ;)

Hey Foli - I will double check on that.. I had mine connected to my Garmin, so Im not sure. Let me get back to you!
@@thedailytri THX mate ! Just saw your post in INSTAGRAM too! Good stuff!
Great video. I will be incorporating these into my open water triathlon. These would have helped tremendously at clash Miami.
Glad it was helpful! I cant wait to try them at a race too, was Miami super bright or hard to navigate?
@@thedailytri everyone got bunched up at the 2nd buoy. I couldn’t see to get around the slowing competitors.

Any issues with them leaking and fogging?
Absolutely none!
No excuse to be swimming in zigzags now!! 😂
🤣 I think we will still find a way...
Can be used for IMs?
I will double check on this for you!
thank you!@@thedailytri
Fantastic video! Very clear and informative Travis great job.
Let’s see if I when🫣
