ORIGINAL UPLOAD DATE: May 9, 2011 Half in the Bag Episode 7? What's so super about Super? And real life super hero (R.L.S.H) The Watchman stops by to chat with Jay and Mike.
I’m fairly new to RLM, and am so glad to go back to the beginning of the Half in the Bag playlist and see the guys review one of my all time faves, Super!
Of the two directors who directed normal people as superhero movies and got hired to adapt a Marvel property within a year of each other, James Gunn was certainly the one who made a better Fantastic Four movie.
Mike: "Obviously it's his delusional dream that the finger of God touches his brain. Kind of a disturbing scene where they take his brain off--" Jay with a toothy, face-splitting smile: " Oh, it's a wonderful scene." In five years, nothing has changed.
Just watched "Super" based on your hackfraud recommendations. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed watching Rainn Wilson bash skulls in over the paltriest of crimes. At a certain point however, my glee turned to shock, and disgust and shame. After the movie ended, I felt dirty. I felt guilty, like I was the one who killed all those people. What a great movie for evoking such emotion.
You can tell they were transitioning to better cameras here, given the picture quality difference between the Rich/Jay shot and the Mike/Jay shot a little later
snatchadams69 I think it just had the bad luck to be released around the same time. They're both a weird superhero variation. But in a very different way. Super isn't really a straight up parody, I suppose it's actually the most realistic superhero movie out there, so they're pretty much psychopaths.
I think Rich Evans is part of a very large family of very similar looking brothers. But they were all put up for adoption but somehow stayed in the same place.
2:31 Mike looks like he was supposed to receive eighty thousand dollars in severance pay from his company but then they just decided to fly him down to a resort in Mexico for a week instead.
Super was fucking amazing, I watched it a couple of days ago and laughed my ass off while also just being emotionally destroyed and completely horrified. Great experience, 8/10 leaning toward 9/10
“By the way, I already called the police about that dead body.” LMAO! Tastefully done comedy after tricking the audience he couldn’t notice the murder.
Starting off this series and I am desperate to find the illustrious rich evans. But all I get is other Mike. What the hell is wrong with these hack frauds
Holy crap, legit this is basically youtube necro posting here but damn glad i saw yalls review on Super, i never heard of it before now and instantly one of my fav cheese movies now, just watched, much win XD
I just finished Super and it's certainly got something going for it but it's not a movie I'd say I enjoyed. It makes you think and that's good and it doesn't just make you think "oh that was badass" it makes you search yourself and make connections. If you like being really uncomfortable while watching something this is quintessential viewing.
Funny connection to make, Super and Observe and Report, given that both have super uncomfortable rape/quasi-rape scenes that sort of come out of nowhere.
Yeah it might be from some kind of Garageband music library. This predates Tropico 5. I guess that just goes to show how all Kalypso's ambitions of originality were dropped after Tropico 4 🤷
I think what it happened was he wrote a slightly more mature script (like, slightly hard pg-13) that was a bit more of a deconstruction of scooby doo. More jokes about the premise, and stuff like Velma and Dafney being gay. There is still a few remnants of that script in the movie, like shaggy's love interest being "Mary Jane." However, Gunn's script was ultimately changed massively, and became the movie that it is
Jay calls himself "The other guy"
Classic
That inbred looking guy attempting a Bauman beard
Pete Wade You mean Susan?
Classic Susan right here.
Back when Jay knew his place
Man, Half in the Bag has really went downhill since episode 6.
Yeah, they really Jumped the Shark when Jay killed Other Mike.
KD Lang has let himself go
Really how ???
Lol
It won't last.
The cut to Mike on his island vacation is one funniest things ever filmed. Then again, I could say that about a ton of stuff these guys do.
the other guy and another other guy is possibly the greatest line ever written
Ah, the glory days of Mennonite Jay.
I legitimately thought this was another phrase for incel or something. Like damn you're right but don't say it out loud 😭 the more you know 🌈 ⭐
The evolution of Jay's beautiful beard
It should be studied by scholars.
The 8th Wonder of the World

Watchmen is not at all like I remembered it.
Being from Milwaukee, I can confirm that all fake names end in -ski.
I appreciate The Watchman's accent so much more now after Surviving Edged Weapons.
Mike's face as he judges Jay's comments about Ellen Paige from 9:40 onwards is hilarious.
Siding with Mike on this one. Her tone was off for this movie.
Nesrocks Gaming Videos disagree, thought she was the funniest by far. She played a true psychopath.
She's a dude now I guess so them struggling with her name is now funnier

I just watched Super and had to go back 5 years to watch this review.
Actually its 10 years back. They reuploaded in 2015 because they used to upload on blip.tv

“People that like Dane Cook will be horribly confused.” HAHA!
Wow, James Gunn seems like a really neat director. He should be given more stuff to do in the genre.
Thumbs up for squibs. I miss squibs in action movies.

the bit about elliot page's name seems just a lil bit funnier now

This video is so old that Jay's phone has a keyboard.
holyfuck its a blacberry
After watching Super on Netflix, it's safe to say I still have a few emotions lying around somewhere.
I'm glad to hear Mike enjoyed Observe and Report, that movie is pretty underrated.
You can tell they were transitioning to better cameras here, given the picture quality difference between the Rich/Jay shot and the Mike/Jay shot a little later
Who's Rich? There were two Mikes and the other guy.
I still don't think people should keep comparing Super to Kick-Ass.

It mostly comes down to the costumes and hammy comic book clip-art that's occasionally used during action scenes.
If Mike could have stopped drinking NOW, he might have been able to save his heart valves.
The Watchman seems like a really nice guy :)
What's he up to now?
@@odigity he died of a crack overdose in 2014
Is this Mike related to Rich Evans by chance?
Mike Spedusky is not related to Rich Evans. Rip Mike
I think Rich Evans is part of a very large family of very similar looking brothers. But they were all put up for adoption but somehow stayed in the same place.
Shane Busse Mike Spedusky is actually mr. Plinkett's great-grandson.
If you liked Kick-Ass and especially Super, you'll like Defendor.
I can't believe I still haven't seen Super. I'll have to rectify this.
2:31 Mike looks like he was supposed to receive eighty thousand dollars in severance pay from his company but then they just decided to fly him down to a resort in Mexico for a week instead.
I keep hearing Tropico music in these videos.
Jay's got the best dumbfounded look to ever grace my internet screen
Holy shit, that's ACTUALLY The Watchman.
It’s been 100 yrs but I still love the other guy
Don't know if it's just my headphones, but that glass bottle clink in the title card destroys my earholes every single time. I don't mind.
A crazier version of Dwight as a Super hero and Dirted and Written by James's Gunn....Absolute classic
After years of trying to remember who Jay reminds me of, I finally figured it out! Hans Klopek from “The Burbs” starring Tom Hanks!! LMAO!!! 😂
Right on
Courtney Gaines will always be Hans to me, or the douche at the end of back to the future who cuts in
The Watchman isn't too shabby of an actor
I'd gladly watch Dwight from the Office pretend to be a super hero.
Wow wonder what The Watchman is up to these days....
I can totally see Ellen Page working in a comic book store. If they cast Tricia Helfer in that role I'd say that's bad casting
I can totally see her raping a dude...
Watched Super last night after seing this review and I loved it! Thank you!
I'm so confused by the lore already and I'm only 7 episodes in
Bibleman is awesome. As an adult I realize a lot of it was parodying the schlocky Batman of the time
Did you also notice Willie Aames' alcoholism?
@@MultiBeerme wait what?
I liked the part where Jay shot rich evans. It looked pretty good
jay looks like a lumberjack
I think he's Amish.
Dalek Swartz i thought he had a little native american in him
The kids call him a lumbersexual
Super was fucking amazing, I watched it a couple of days ago and laughed my ass off while also just being emotionally destroyed and completely horrified. Great experience, 8/10 leaning toward 9/10
“By the way, I already called the police about that dead body.”

Oh my god, they've already jumped the shark! Half in the Bag has been going downhill ever since Episode 6!
The hard cut to vacation Mike lol spittake moment
My favorite film oat, didn't know these guys reviewed it, glad they did
The ending is soo funny!
Observe & Report is basically Taxi Driver meets Paul Blart.
This one is underrated, one of my favorites or RLM!
Can the gang do a re-review of Super?
It better RE:VIEW for slither
The police: We're always looking for extra pair of eyes....it saves us getting shot and/or stabbed.
Rewatching Mike's slow crawl into the beer bottle of obesity. *eats popcorn*
"Well you're wrong"
Mike looks like Mr Bean when they cut to him taking a vacation lol
10/10 that ending!
That ending is fucking hilarious.
I like to think that Jay carries a gun at all times in case someone makes dumb arguments about movies he likes
I love that I just watched someone get shot on TH-cam. Lol
one of the best episodes
That watchmen guy had good timing
2:10 just might be my favorite moment in RLM history.
Starting off this series and I am desperate to find the illustrious rich evans. But all I get is other Mike. What the hell is wrong with these hack frauds
17:48 His sidekick is straight up just dressed as Captain Hammer.
Just saw it. Couldn't have said it better myself
Mike Stoklasa's ring tone is SO BOSS I WANT IT.
Eric Silva Can't find it anywhere :/ You sure you got the title right?
Tobias Weiss lol
Genuinely just a good episode!!!
I am here because of a Disney Consultation Service Ad
LOL, MY MAN ALREADY CALLED THE POLICE ABOUT THAT DEAD BODY!!! LAUGHING MY ASS OFF!!!

Bring back Amish Jay!
Why didn't you guys talk about the scene where Ellen rapes Rainn? That was a fucking disturbing scene. I am floored that you didn't even mention it!
But it's not offensive when a guy gets raped.
All those attempts and you still didn't come up with the name Elliot Page.
Back when your best video quality was 480p
How many times have they killed Rich on this show?
Up until this point none, the person killed was Other Mike, are you blind?
I can hear a song from Tropico 5 in the background. I figured it was an original song, but maybe not.
Yeah it might be from some kind of Garageband music library. This predates Tropico 5. I guess that just goes to show how all Kalypso's ambitions of originality were dropped after Tropico 4 🤷
And Kevin Bacon
wow !! they got Rich Evans from the Ellen Show for this episode!! they really gettin traction
I want Jay to review his chin strap beard. What is that 🤷♂️🤦♂️
RIP Ellen Paige
This makes Raine Wilson gay now.
Most underrated line “(Jay) This whole movie feels like a comic book movie in the way Rocky feels like a boxing movie.”
Well, I laughed anyway.
Watching that other guy shoot the other other guy was very fulfilling.
i was trying to remember the name of little monsters yesterday! thanks! It's really similar to monsters Inc
it's a paradox, Mike
this might be the best HitB ep.
OMG BIBLEMAN I used to watch bibleman all the time when I was younger, no way I thought I was the only one that's hard of bibleman.
This is Susan when she was in her prime!
Oh, I thought they meant Watchmen
I agree. Super was an amazing movie that did not get enough attention. At least James Gunn went on to do more stuff. That's a good part.
He is drinking a soda on half in the bag wtf
10 fucking years
I kind of wish this would happen every time Rich is on.
I can't believe this guy wrote the live action scooby doo movies. Super was amazing and those were shit. My brain can't process how.
Yes he did. He wrote the god awful live action films from the early 2000s.
Same guy who directed Guardians of the Galaxy by the way.
***** Had to get those paychecks.
