I had the extreme good fortune of meeting Andy at the Joe Satriani G4 Experience guitar camp in Jan 2023. He hosted a nightly jam session where we could all trade licks. Needless to say he smoked us all, but he was very friendly, generous and a great hang. He melted our faces with his shredding. I really enjoyed getting to know him.
Outstanding! Excellent thematic development as well as chops. Andy James never once sacrifices speed for clarity, and I love how even the fastest lines pop out as clear as crystal. A lesson for aspring shredders... Of course I love Yngwie for the way he pushes and pulls against the tempo with his lines - gives it the feeling that he's walking on a tightrope - but its never beyond the point where he loses it! Off down an Andy James rabbit hole then..
Thank you Levi. I still dont play by tab, but its nice to see and read to try n get a feel for it with such an interesting and inspiring song. Kepp it up brother. Much love.
Thank you for all of your contributions to the guitar community from you Lick Library courses to your precise transcriptions. It’s all been very helpful
First time ever commenting on anything , ever. Levi , ty for your service. You’re the man for this job - CRYING IN THE RAIN , Whitesnake 1987 studio version.. If anyone can do it justice, it’s you. And then maybe the live in Rio version if I’m being greedy. I know you know the one 😉
He's in a level of his own. In bar 28 the tab says 24-0-etc on the B string, but it looks like Andy is playing the line a few frets lower on the high E...?
there are a couple of points where his video doesn't match the audio. Knowing Andy like I do, he'll have recorded this, and then 6+ months later had to make the playthrough video where he has to relearn it, but mistakes happen! I *know* (like I'm pretending I know it better than Andy haha) he played it on the B string because all the pull-offs are to an open B! But I did spot it while I was doing it!
No, he did his time. He's made 9 albums so far and has been broke his ENTIRE career of shredding. He deserves to be a millionaire and play for people in stadiums, in one of the largest bands in the world. The fact that he is still putting melodic shred music out for us is above and beyond
He deserves to be in a successful band.. He put in the work. I dont’ care for 5FDP music at all just like I don’t like Arch Enemy but it’s the same with Jeff Loomis. Are his talents being utilized fully in the band? No but who cares, he still has an outlet to put out solo shred music. The bands these guys play in are a decent paycheck and a way to make a living so it doesn’t matter if you think the bands they play in suck ass.
@@nicholassupernant6807 Well he could spice it up with more technical guitar riffs and shred solos but then it wouldn’t be the same band and likely wouldn’t be as successful. I hate Arch Enemy’s music (not the people in the band, the music). Look at the fans of Arch Enemy. They are a more commercially successful band than Nevermore was. Nevermore would never have had the success of Arch Enemy not because the music is not good because your average and vast majority of the listeners and fans are NOT musicians. They don’t give a shit nor even notice if the guitar player is playing a wicked sweep or difficult technical prog metal riff. They are all about the easy to follow predictable song structures and melodies. You can’t be successful unless you are Dream Theater playing that kind of shit. It’s cool, I’d rather listen to AJ or JL solo albums or Nevermore any day of the week over 5FDP or AE but the guys gotta make a living and some people calling them sellouts are full of shit. And don’t worry, I’m not accusing you of saying that, I get where you are coming from.
Hey Levi have you heard of Roy Marchbank-has to be the fastest player on the planet. Interesting style. Many say his vids are sped up but how do you fake a live band performance?
Rusty Cooley 😂 different ballparks. If you find him more interesting musically than Andy give your head a wobble. There's no telling where Rusty's warm up routine stops and his songs start.
Can't you just enjoy stuff without comparing anyone? Hearing different artists' styles, intentions and expressions is more interesting than technical skill and virtuosity. I think you're missing the purpose and endeavor of music.

Thank goodness Andy is keeping melody alive in his brand of super shredding.
yeah it's tasty as anything

Some wicked alternate picking practice in there!!
You can keep on with the Andy James tabs. I, certainly, won't be upset.
How many techniques do you need to master for this solo?
ALL OF THEM!
I'm not sure if I love or hate that headstock but the axe sure sounds great

@@LeviClay thanks for clarifying, it just caught my attention and I thought I'd ask.
I wonder if he was listening to cry for you by Andy Timmons when he wrote that opening line 🤷🏼♂️👏
Where can we buy those tabs?
All on my Patreon

Perfect! Can you transcibe The Falcon God?

I can't even play twice as good as that
What's he using for amps these days?
Killer as usual.
He is SO wasted in 5FDP :(
????

@pizzaisgood4877 Fair point. On the Loomis side of things, how much better would he make Arch Enemy with some thrashy, Nevermore goodness?

absolute hack
Levi Clay, can you do the NIB solo by Ugly kid Joe?
Круто, чувак! Спасибо!
Even trying to figure out bar 40 slowed down is hell.. seems like he slides positions down more than the tab indicates.
He’s miming to the audio, sometimes he makes mistakes ;)
Its like the guitar is singing
Levy please, George bellas guitar feats
sounds like a five finger death punch track/solo
How odd… five finger death punch guitarist sounds like five finger death punch 🤷
John Frusciante final jam Chorzow plz
falcon god- andy james can you?
top
No it wont
His technique is very precise without being cold or emotionless, but musically I find Rusty Cooley warming up more interesting than this.

Rusty Cooley is like an ice pick to the ears -- which explains your opinion.
Butthurt galore.
I wasn't saying Andy James sucks, just said this bit wasn't to my liking.
